Is He Really A Neko Though?Well this was whole heaps of adorable! I love the whole meta aspect of the boys discussing BL tropes and who was a top or a bottom。 The secondary characters were interesting too and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them。 This is basically about a boy in his own BL storyline but not realising it。 My baby Sasaki I’m rooting for you!

The narrative structure is a little choppy; I wonder how much of that is due to the fact that it was originally posted online, probably without an intent to formally publish it。 There are a lot of cute scenes, but the order is broken apart, so it's difficult to tell the chronological order at various points。 At times, it wasn't clear which speech bubbles belonged to which characters; I had to stare for a while and puzzle out who would make the most sense。 (There's a reason speech bubbles traditi The narrative structure is a little choppy; I wonder how much of that is due to the fact that it was originally posted online, probably without an intent to formally publish it。 There are a lot of cute scenes, but the order is broken apart, so it's difficult to tell the chronological order at various points。 At times, it wasn't clear which speech bubbles belonged to which characters; I had to stare for a while and puzzle out who would make the most sense。 (There's a reason speech bubbles traditionally have tails!)Still, though, this was very cute and sweet, particularly as it got closer to the end and Sasaki's pining kicked in hard。 That makes me hopeful for the next volume。 I'm assuming this will wind up as a happy ending, considering the genre, but it looks like it's going to take some Effort to get there, since Miyano is still oblivious about Sasaki's true feelings for him。I like the gentleness of their relationship, though, and the fact that Sasaki is doing his best to really get to know everything about Miyano - and is respecting the boundaries Miyano keeps slamming into place。 I hope the rest of the manga is like this, with, of course, the slow unveiling of mutual feelings。Looking forward to the anime adaptation, too, which should fix the pacing issues I had with the manga thus far。 It should be a really soft, adorable one。 。。。more

This is a sweet short volume set in an all-boys’ school about Miyano, a high school freshman who’s into BL stories, and Sasaki, his senpai who can’t help but feel drawn to him。 tThis volume is shorter than most tankōbon volumes (so much so that I hesitated when I saw it priced at the regular 13 dollars)。 Despite this, the space was utilized so effectively。 I feel like I know these characters pretty well。 tThe story was split between the greater plotline of Miyano’s and Sasaki’s friendship and so This is a sweet short volume set in an all-boys’ school about Miyano, a high school freshman who’s into BL stories, and Sasaki, his senpai who can’t help but feel drawn to him。 tThis volume is shorter than most tankōbon volumes (so much so that I hesitated when I saw it priced at the regular 13 dollars)。 Despite this, the space was utilized so effectively。 I feel like I know these characters pretty well。 tThe story was split between the greater plotline of Miyano’s and Sasaki’s friendship and some 4-panel shorts。 The shorts aren’t isolated—we learn little tidbits about the characters, like Sasaki’s love of sweet foods, Miyano’s preference for less-sweet foods, their discussions on BL manga, and more。 For the most part, this is a sweet, fluffy, slice-of-life manga。 tThere are, of course, the typical BL/yaoi tropes。 Sasaki is the tall, handsome, delinquent senpai。 Miyano is the small, cute, awkward freshman。 Miyano reads BL stories, but doesn’t explicitly call himself “gay,” “bi,” or “queer。” From reading the BL manga Miyano gives him, Sasaki seems to receive some sort of validation that same-sex relationships are possible, which I thought was sweet, seeing this young man reading stories about characters that he sees himself in。 Of course, Sasaki only seems to have eyes for Miyano。 But, still, it’s nice that their classmates don’t blink twice at Sasaki’s obvious crush on Miyano。 tIf I remember correctly, an anime adaptation is in the works (which is what got me to cave in and shell out the 13 dollars to buy this, lol, you’re welcome)。 Even though this doesn’t break the mold in terms of BL stories, the characters really grew on me。 It’s amusing to see Miyano flustered at all the situations he finds himself in with Sasaki, comparing them to all the BL stories he reads。 Plus, the art style is one of my favorite kinds—soft, detailed, sketchy-like, and with lots of handsome boys and cute moments。 If this sounds like your jam, then I say go for it! (Or wait for the anime, whatever you prefer, lol) 。。。more

This volume is a bit too quick! So much time passes during the first 5 chapters, I felt like this volume was aiming to be a stand alone。 I felt extra disappointed when I remembered I would not be getting any kind of resolution yet。

This is kind of a review of the whole series that I've read up to this point (1-7), but I have to say I just read it all and was surprised。It's a bit meta but not fully deconstructive, which I think really works。 I like how it switches between panel styles; there's the comedic four panel sort of format for when they're making jokes about how BLs work etc, but then when it gets to more serious, emotional moments it switches to a multiple panel style。 I thought overall the series walked a good lin This is kind of a review of the whole series that I've read up to this point (1-7), but I have to say I just read it all and was surprised。It's a bit meta but not fully deconstructive, which I think really works。 I like how it switches between panel styles; there's the comedic four panel sort of format for when they're making jokes about how BLs work etc, but then when it gets to more serious, emotional moments it switches to a multiple panel style。 I thought overall the series walked a good line of both kind of pointing out how BL tropes don't hold up in real life/would even be a bit problematic in real life, while also showing how enjoyable such romance stories can be and how they can connect people together and open their minds to possibilities of non-heteronormative relationships。 Plus the couple is just really cute? You really feel like they love each other。 Sometimes Sasaki does a bit of trope-y possessiveness, but I liked that it didn't go unaddressed and they talked about it。 Miyano also takes a lot of time to decide how he feels, but I liked how both he and Sasaki were very deliberate。 The series is mostly fluffy but does briefly touch on some obstacles for mlm couples, which I also appreciated。 I actually think the biggest joy for me about this series though is that the characters all felt like very real teenagers to me and that every single one of the main cast was likeable。 Hirano was a particular favorite of mine (and he gets his own nice spin off which I'm looking forward to reading more of), but they're all good。 Even the disciplinary council president--I thought I wouldn't like him when he was introduced, but actually he was quite fun! They all feel like real friends and they have these backstories which like hint at their depth。 By the end, I had some strange nostalgia for high school--very unusual for me, but I felt like this series actually depicted what it was like to be in that time of life。 All in all, super enjoyable, definitely recommend, I'll definitely keep reading, and I hope they keep publishing this series in English! 。。。more

Miyano loves BL manga, but it's just a little hobby of his。 Sasaki, an upperclassman in the same all-boys school, is intrigued enough to borrow some books。 Gradually, he comes around to the realization that he's falling for Miyano, who's oblivious, despite being an expert in BL。 Sort of a mix of 4-panel comics and longer chapters。 Plays up the humorous aspects of a gradual and reluctant (and for now, unrequited) attraction。 Miyano loves BL manga, but it's just a little hobby of his。 Sasaki, an upperclassman in the same all-boys school, is intrigued enough to borrow some books。 Gradually, he comes around to the realization that he's falling for Miyano, who's oblivious, despite being an expert in BL。 Sort of a mix of 4-panel comics and longer chapters。 Plays up the humorous aspects of a gradual and reluctant (and for now, unrequited) attraction。 。。。more

Totally adorable manga about a Boy’s Love fanboy being pursued by an upperclassman, and who doesn't realize that he’s actually in a BL story。 Excellent art - strong page design, expressive figures drawn with a solid sense of anatomy。 I'm looking to see if there is more by this artist。 Totally adorable manga about a Boy’s Love fanboy being pursued by an upperclassman, and who doesn't realize that he’s actually in a BL story。 Excellent art - strong page design, expressive figures drawn with a solid sense of anatomy。 I'm looking to see if there is more by this artist。 。。。more

Very cute, but the continuity threw me off a little, because sometimes I would think it was a flashback or something, but it was actually the present。 I like these four panel comics the more I read them。 They're a really fast read I can't wait to read the next few volumes and seeing how their relationship develops。 Very cute, but the continuity threw me off a little, because sometimes I would think it was a flashback or something, but it was actually the present。 I like these four panel comics the more I read them。 They're a really fast read I can't wait to read the next few volumes and seeing how their relationship develops。 。。。more

This was cute but a little hard to follow at a few times。 I think it kept jumping between flashbacks and the current narrative but I was never sure。 Sasaki is a love sick fool and I love that for him。

I did not expect this to be so heartfelt。 In fact, I was a bit leery of it, afraid that it was going to be essentially "tee hee, they're gay。" Happily that's not what it is - it's more about how Sasaki is discovering his sexual orientation through his crush on Miyano, who isn't sure what's going on but isn't likely to be off-put when it eventually comes clear。 There is a humor element, but it isn't a humor book, and I'm interested to see where it will go。 I did not expect this to be so heartfelt。 In fact, I was a bit leery of it, afraid that it was going to be essentially "tee hee, they're gay。" Happily that's not what it is - it's more about how Sasaki is discovering his sexual orientation through his crush on Miyano, who isn't sure what's going on but isn't likely to be off-put when it eventually comes clear。 There is a humor element, but it isn't a humor book, and I'm interested to see where it will go。 。。。more

Actual Rating: 4。25 starsThis was such a cute manga! I went into it blind expecting something totally different, but it really was a great first volume。 This one had a definite build-up, and nothing was tied up at the end, which just makes me want to continue reading more。 The characters were well-developed, and the art was really beautiful。 One I would definitely recommend!

Glad we're getting pixiv originating manga now, still, does feel a bit on the my first manga at times since the organization of the story is a bit disjointed at once and the writer doesn't really clearly establish when we're doing a flashback and when we're not。 It did get a little clearer as we got more acquainted with the characters so it wasn't that much of a problem。I thought it was a cute start。 Sasaki going through the is a guy really making my heart thump to I clearly have a crush on him Glad we're getting pixiv originating manga now, still, does feel a bit on the my first manga at times since the organization of the story is a bit disjointed at once and the writer doesn't really clearly establish when we're doing a flashback and when we're not。 It did get a little clearer as we got more acquainted with the characters so it wasn't that much of a problem。I thought it was a cute start。 Sasaki going through the is a guy really making my heart thump to I clearly have a crush on him and how to make him aware of my feelings and how he is leading me on is really cute。 Similarly, BL fanboy Miyano being a little dense about Sasaki and casting off all he does as mere joking is lol。 The bonding over BL is cute and then whole teasing all the time is fun too。 Also faces for Sasaki when Miyano explains something from BL is one of my favorite things too。 Really just like this a lot。 Cheering Sasaki on。 (Pocky scene and the aftermath was my favorite moment)。 。。。more

Did a reread of this manga because I heard of the anime adaptation coming out soon! I'm actually kind of thrilled about it considering the voice actors and also because this story really is a diamond in the rough in terms of manga regarding MLM relationships! The characters are very lovable and the art is adorable as well。 I usually don't read romance, but I found myself drawn to Sasaki and Miyano's relationship on multiple occasions。 Can't wait to see how the adaptation covers this story。I loved Did a reread of this manga because I heard of the anime adaptation coming out soon!
