This was another interesting story about a scientifically based attempt by powerful people to control the world and NUMA is called to put a stop to it。 The ending was kind of abrupt。

I can tell Clive didn't write this book in it's entirety。Still, I am happy for a Cussler adventure with Remi and Sam。 I can tell Clive didn't write this book in it's entirety。Still, I am happy for a Cussler adventure with Remi and Sam。 。。。more

NUMA to the rescue, this time the world, and most of the fun takes place in Antarctica。 No car chases, but snowmobile races make up for the lack。 Classic action-adventure from the late Clive Cussler。

I'm not sure how much involvement Clive Cussler had in this novel, since he died in February 2020, but I'm pleased that Graham Brown has kept the spirit of the NUMA files in "Fast Ice。" Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala find themselves on a heck of a wild adventure in the cold harshness of the Antarctic ice as they race to figure out what a megalomaniac has planned for the world -- and then race to stop him。This book has all the elements of a great Cussler novel - historical connections, LOTS (and I me I'm not sure how much involvement Clive Cussler had in this novel, since he died in February 2020, but I'm pleased that Graham Brown has kept the spirit of the NUMA files in "Fast Ice。" Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala find themselves on a heck of a wild adventure in the cold harshness of the Antarctic ice as they race to figure out what a megalomaniac has planned for the world -- and then race to stop him。This book has all the elements of a great Cussler novel - historical connections, LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of action, fun banter, and likeable characters。 The only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars is that what Kurt and Joe discover to be the nefarious plot in play is so incredibly far-fetched that it was a little hard for me to swallow。 And I have no problems suspending my disbelief for Cussler books because that's what makes them so fun。 This one was just stretching it a tad too far。 But it didn't stop me from enjoying the book, and I am looking forward to #19。 。。。more

Fast Ice was another typical but fun Kurt Austin adventure/thriller from the posthumous Clive Cussler and this time Graham Brown。 It’s like all his other novels, I get what I expected to get and like AC/DC, I don’t expect him/them to fix something that isn’t broken。 I got exactly what I paid for and had a great time。For this adventure, Kurt and crew go to the Antarctic and spend some freeze time where mayhem ensues。 It was a thrill a minute and I was never disappointed。The quality is still there Fast Ice was another typical but fun Kurt Austin adventure/thriller from the posthumous Clive Cussler and this time Graham Brown。 It’s like all his other novels, I get what I expected to get and like AC/DC, I don’t expect him/them to fix something that isn’t broken。 I got exactly what I paid for and had a great time。For this adventure, Kurt and crew go to the Antarctic and spend some freeze time where mayhem ensues。 It was a thrill a minute and I was never disappointed。The quality is still there, I never get bored, and still look forward to the next one。 I hope there’s still a stock of stories built up in the Cussler vault。 I’m hopeful。 Highly recommended! 。。。more

#18 in the Kurt Austin, NUMA series。 This is #10 co-written by the late Clive Cussler with Graham Brown after #8 cowritten with Paul Kemprecos。 The motivations by super-villain Rylan Lloyd (both the supposed true one as well as the one expressed to his backers) do not stand up to close scrutiny。 But with the breakneck pace of the action in this thriller, who has time to apply close scrutiny。Climate expert Cora Emmerson, while doing research in Berlin, comes across references to a 1939 German exp #18 in the Kurt Austin, NUMA series。 This is #10 co-written by the late Clive Cussler with Graham Brown after #8 cowritten with Paul Kemprecos。 The motivations by super-villain Rylan Lloyd (both the supposed true one as well as the one expressed to his backers) do not stand up to close scrutiny。 But with the breakneck pace of the action in this thriller, who has time to apply close scrutiny。Climate expert Cora Emmerson, while doing research in Berlin, comes across references to a 1939 German expedition to Antarctica that discovered a lake heated by geothermal energy containing a strange green algae that seemed to cause water to rapidly freeze。 Cora goes to Antarctica, where she collects ice core samples containing the algae。 She alerts the National Underwater and Marine Agency, for which she once worked, that she has made a find that has the power to "remake the world。" Weeks later, as Cora heads home, a vessel disguised as an iceberg crashes into her ship。 Unknown attackers kill the crew and steal Cora's samples。 Cora survives long enough to rig a device to keep the ship afloat。 The subsequent investigation by NUMA's Kurt Austin and sidekick Joe Zavela leads them to Ryland Lloyd, who claims to be an environmentalist who believes climate change actually benefits the planet in the long run。 。。。more

Kurt and Joe, the younger versions of Dirk and Al。 These stories are action filled, but the pace is not always consistent。 Some of the books are better than others。This book got bogged down at times with some of the "Science"。 I came close to giving up, and gave it one last chance - the boys and their sidekicks Paul and Gamay save the day once again。 Kurt and Joe, the younger versions of Dirk and Al。 These stories are action filled, but the pace is not always consistent。 Some of the books are better than others。This book got bogged down at times with some of the "Science"。 I came close to giving up, and gave it one last chance - the boys and their sidekicks Paul and Gamay save the day once again。 。。。more

3。5 ⭐Fast Ice ties in Nazi exploration of the South Pole。 In present day, Kurt and Joe headed to Antarctica to find a missing former NUMA colleague and her team。 Clues led to a climate fanatic mad scientist who wants to start the next ice age。 As much as I was excited about Antarctica, the middle part felt long before a thrilling ending。

Have always loved Clive and he will be sadly missed。 Excellent read as usual。 The action adventure attracts me even if a bit far fetched and the story and friendships keep me reading。 I find I’m partial to the stories with Kurt and joe and the family as opposed to the series he does with a more historical setting but that’s just me。 The attacks on the environment always astound me and while hopefully are technically still an impossibility it gives the mental picture of the horrors that can becom Have always loved Clive and he will be sadly missed。 Excellent read as usual。 The action adventure attracts me even if a bit far fetched and the story and friendships keep me reading。 I find I’m partial to the stories with Kurt and joe and the family as opposed to the series he does with a more historical setting but that’s just me。 The attacks on the environment always astound me and while hopefully are technically still an impossibility it gives the mental picture of the horrors that can become the future if we do not heed the warnings。 With any luck I hope his coauthor on several books is well versed in the characters and writing style so Cusslers literary family can continue on into the future entertaining his fans。 。。。more

Not the same as when Clive Cussler was writing but a good read。 I do miss the pop-up appearance of Mr。 Cussler in each book。 It would be nice if he was written back into the books。

A Fast Paced, Well Researched Thriller -- Highly recommended for anyone who follows the Clive Cussler series。 Fast Ice brings a fascinating mix of environmentalism, antarctic and ocean adventure together for an exciting read。 It's exciting to see the franchise continuing despite the unfortunate loss of Clive Cussler last year。 Thank you for keeping the adventure alive!Fast IceFast Ice A Fast Paced, Well Researched Thriller -- Highly recommended for anyone who follows the Clive Cussler series。 Fast Ice brings a fascinating mix of environmentalism, antarctic and ocean adventure together for an exciting read。 It's exciting to see the franchise continuing despite the unfortunate loss of Clive Cussler last year。 Thank you for keeping the adventure alive!Fast IceFast Ice 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Review of FAST ICEA typical Clive Cussler novel。 This novel is not the same as Clive Cussler's earlier novels。 In this instance Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala must stop a brother and sister megalomaniac from destroying the world with a massive ICE AGE。 Then when it is over the world will be more concerned with preserving what is left and not being interested in the rest of humanity。 Although there are two megalomaniacs, the novel focuses on the brother, Ryland Lloyd, and does not go in depth on the Review of FAST ICEA typical Clive Cussler novel。 This novel is not the same as Clive Cussler's earlier novels。 In this instance Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala must stop a brother and sister megalomaniac from destroying the world with a massive ICE AGE。 Then when it is over the world will be more concerned with preserving what is left and not being interested in the rest of humanity。 Although there are two megalomaniacs, the novel focuses on the brother, Ryland Lloyd, and does not go in depth on the sister, Yvonne Lloyd。 Ryland Lloyd is interesting because his public persona is that of an overzealous industrialist。 Yet he like his sister are radical environmentalists, who wish to destroy the present world。 And exist in a world that is more concerned with preserving the NEW WORLD and ignoring the rest of humanity。 This is an interesting aspect of the novel because most of the megalomaniacs in Cussler's novels are more interested in themselves rather than a NEW WORLD ORDER。 A regular reader of Clive Cussler novels will be able to distinguish between Clive Cussler's writing style and Graham Brown's writing style。 However a relatively new reader will not be able to distinguish between the writing styles。 Cussler's writing is that of constant, non-stop action while Brown's writing is not。 An enjoyable read。 A typical 'escape read' which the reader will not be able to put down。 。。。more

This is an excellent story, as usual, for the late Clive Cussler。 I am sad and I hope the co-authors continue to write great stories iithe style of Mr。 Cussler。

Same snappy dialog and formula。 It was a nice distraction from life, but not that great of a story。

To me this edition read entirely like Graham Brown’s writing。 Little Cussler magic is found。 The story was noteworthy and adventurous。 Hoping to find improvement in the styles of the other co-writers。 RIP Clive。

One of the best NUMA Files storiesI’ve read them all, and this was one of my favorite of the NUMA Files books by Cussler。 Not sure if he participated in the writing before he passed, but I am a die hard fan and will read this series until his company stops putting them out。

The thing I have noticed about Clive Cussler books is that there is enough fact to sometimes overcome the deus ex machina events (an unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel。) that seemingly happen all the time when characters like Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala are involved。 I am just glad that Kurt and Joe helped save us from an ice age when we have enough to worry about with global warming and rising seas being the n The thing I have noticed about Clive Cussler books is that there is enough fact to sometimes overcome the deus ex machina events (an unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel。) that seemingly happen all the time when characters like Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala are involved。 I am just glad that Kurt and Joe helped save us from an ice age when we have enough to worry about with global warming and rising seas being the next great threat。 。。。more

I love this series and have real all these books so much adventure and fun to read。 I will have to wait another year for the next one out I am sad!!!

Fast IceReally a good read。 Cuddler never disappoints。 It is action from the first page to the last。 I have read all his books so far。

Characters were fine but all in all, a pretty lame story line。 Lack of adventure and intrigue led to just a routine story。 Can you tell I wasn’t paid or received comps for this review。 Ignore the 5 star ratings, that’s absurd for this story。

Bacteria that can cause ice to form and thus freeze the oceans, not to mention our world, are hiding under Antarctic glaciers and a nefarious evil mastermind (what other kind are there?) is busy mining them from beneath frozen glacial lakes, using geothermal power from even further below the South Pole。 His aim - to freeze all but the equatorial regions, getting rid of the excess baggage the earth currently endures in the process - that means (almost) all of us and most of the world's flora and fauna as well - all the while hoping things do not go too far and deep-freeze our earth permanently。Sound scary? Kind of - but wait - Dirk and Joe are onto things with help from the usual NUMA suspects, so of course we can relax but still enjoy the fast-paced ride。 Not to say it is not enjoyable, perhaps even nostalgic, reading, but we all know how things always turn out, right? At least most of the bad guys (and gals) get deep frozen for their trouble。 And I do mean deep!Enjoy it while we can - I think maybe only one more in the Cussler pipeline before it trickles dry。 。。。more
