Summary

Forget baby purées and spoon-feeding—there’s an easier, more natural way to introduce your little one to solid foods。 By about six months, when babies can sit up unassisted, grab things, and munch on them, they are ready to join the family at the kitchen table and discover real, solid food for themselves。

Baby-led weaning sets the stage for healthy eating habits in the years ahead by helping babies learn to feed themselves, to gauge appetite, and to love a variety of nutritious foods。 Now, with The Baby-Led Weaning Cookbook, cooking family meals that your little one can share will be a cinch。 Gill Rapley and Tracey Murkett—coauthors of Baby-Led Weaning, the book that started the movement—collect 130 recipes perfectly suited for baby-led weaning, as well as:

• Straightforward advice on which foods to start with
• Essential at-a-glance information on nutrition and food safety
• Healthy ideas for quick snacks, delicious desserts, and meals for the whole family
• Anecdotes and quotes from parents who follow baby-led weaning

Much more than just a recipe book。 Loads of great tips and explanations of everything。 About half the book is information and half is recipes。

When i was preparing my baby for BLW, i read this book after the original BLW book。 I think this books sums up about the BLW method in the previous book, and gives a more practical and visual example of the BLW menu, which is very good! This is a nice cookbook with recipes that the whole family will enjoy。 The recipes are healthy, simple to make, and feature flavors/dishes from around the world。 I liked the thorough explanations of how to cut & serve food to baby。

Lots of wonderful recipes providing balanced meals。 Somevery fast some a bit moreintensive。 Some my daughter didn't like at all, some she loves。 Would have appreciated more dairy free options。 And more desert recipes without sugar。 Lots of wonderful recipes providing balanced meals。 Somevery fast some a bit moreintensive。 Some my daughter didn't like at all, some she loves。 Would have appreciated more dairy free options。 And more desert recipes without sugar。 。。。more

Best recipes for my son who has figured out how to push the spoon away。 He hates smooth textured food and i was out of ideas and this book and the accompanying concept of baby led weaning is good。

A thoroughly inspiring and practical guide for parents wishing to embark on baby-led weaning。 Great also for professionals to advise and support baby-led weaning。

I really enjoyed the Baby-Led Weaning book, so I thought the cookbook would be just as good。 Sadly, I was unimpressed and didn’t find it useful at all。

Many of these little recipes are common ones; you will have come across them before or they could already be staples in your household。 Nonetheless, this book is a useful companion to baby-led weaning, especially for anyone new to the idea!

I'm not a great cook, I don't have a lot of confidence in the kitchen and we had obtained a lot of bad eating habits but obviously I wanted to try give my baby the best start with food! I had done some research and it was appearing to be quite a 'foody' thing to do, or for people who generally cook all their meals from scratch and not those who come home after a 50 hour work week and pull something out the freezer。 I for one don't just have courgettes and crab meat lying around as leftovers, but I can definitely pull out a bag of porridge oats and I have a cupboard full of spices used once。 This book gives an introduction for people who have done little research and then some great simple recipes for all the family! Simple things you would never have come up with yourself using minimal amounts of ingredients and my baby seems to love them all so far! Definitely worth buying rather than all the online blogs etc I came across doing my research! 。。。more

This was an okay cookbook。 The recipes were pretty simple。 I only tried a few - some of which I didn't really like and some of which were just okay。 There really was nothing original in this book。 This was an okay cookbook。 The recipes were pretty simple。 I only tried a few - some of which I didn't really like and some of which were just okay。 There really was nothing original in this book。 。。。more

This book has a good review of the concepts of the BLW book (good for review or other caregivers to do a quick overview), however the recipes didn't help me that much。 Basically it's sodium and sugar-free versions of classics and British food (with most recipes containing eggs and dairy)。 So if you're a novice in the kitchen, it gives you some ideas to start with。 If you cook regularly, you might just consider getting the original Baby-Led Weaning book instead and eliminate sugar/salt from your This book has a good review of the concepts of the BLW book (good for review or other caregivers to do a quick overview), however the recipes didn't help me that much。 Basically it's sodium and sugar-free versions of classics and British food (with most recipes containing eggs and dairy)。 So if you're a novice in the kitchen, it gives you some ideas to start with。 If you cook regularly, you might just consider getting the original Baby-Led Weaning book instead and eliminate sugar/salt from your basic recipes。 This book did give me confidence to start BLW, as I was able to see examples of how to more easily prepare some veggies。 And I wouldn't have thought to make Yorkshire Pudding! 。。。more

Very informative and well written。 Will be following what was written to introduce solids。

I tried baby led weaning for 3 months。 I love in theory how babies feed themselves and get used to so many different textures。 But every baby is different and my baby just still isn't into chunky foods。 After 3 months of his mostly swishing stuff around in his mouth and constantly gagging, I switched to purées and he's been a lot happier。 I give him a pre-loaded spoon so he's still "feeding himself," which he prefers。 Hoping I can try this more in the future if I have another baby。 I tried baby led weaning for 3 months。 I love in theory how babies feed themselves and get used to so many different textures。 But every baby is different and my baby just still isn't into chunky foods。 After 3 months of his mostly swishing stuff around in his mouth and constantly gagging, I switched to purées and he's been a lot happier。 I give him a pre-loaded spoon so he's still "feeding himself," which he prefers。 Hoping I can try this more in the future if I have another baby。 。。。more

I think this is better for babies who are maybe 9 months or more。 I wish it had more recipes that didn't contain dairy or grains, because I'm waiting until my son is 1 to introduce those。 I think this is better for babies who are maybe 9 months or more。 I wish it had more recipes that didn't contain dairy or grains, because I'm waiting until my son is 1 to introduce those。 。。。more

Seriously, who knew you don't have to spoon feed! Yes, recommend to everyone! Cave babies gotta eat them mastodon drumsticks。 NOTE: grandmas do not feel ok about baby-led weaning and will suggest teething biscuits or bat the baby's arms out of the way and feed him applesauce while you go out to dinner, but that's ok, he'll get plenty of other opportunities to totally destroy a sandwich and get hummus in his hair。 Yes, recommend to everyone! I really liked the idea behind this book。 It makes sense to allow you baby to explore the food that you are eating instead of feeding them separate food。 While it will take a lot more planning on my part, I think I'll try this and hope my daughter becomes a better eater than I was。 I really liked the idea behind this book。 It makes sense to allow you baby to explore the food that you are eating instead of feeding them separate food。 While it will take a lot more planning on my part, I think I'll try this and hope my daughter becomes a better eater than I was。 。。。more
