This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Fluffy， with a few good spots。 I read the first half on the Kindle， and the 2nd half on audiobook。 The audiobook was somewhat overacted， but tolerable。 30-something woman has a marital crisis。 Slightly implausible， but it kept me from fretting in the middle of the night。

This book started out with me laughing out loud。 I generally love Sophie’s books。 This one was fun not one of my favorites。 It’s a good easy beach read。 It does have a great ending and some great insights on marriage and relationships。

I started this book waiting for a Chick Lit and out of a sudden it was not anymore。 And I guess that is what made me enjoy this book as much as I did。I am not a big fan of "funny books with blend characters"， but I was needing a break and looking for something more on the sweet side。 And man was I surprised。 Sylvie and Dan have everything to be the perfect rom-com couple。 The plot line does as well。 Little surprises every day that are going to change the direction of their marriage as they face I started this book waiting for a Chick Lit and out of a sudden it was not anymore。 And I guess that is what made me enjoy this book as much as I did。I am not a big fan of "funny books with blend characters"， but I was needing a break and looking for something more on the sweet side。 And man was I surprised。 Sylvie and Dan have everything to be the perfect rom-com couple。 The plot line does as well。 Little surprises every day that are going to change the direction of their marriage as they face a time/life crisis， and it is going to make them fall in love madly again。 For the first 50%， it was fun and light。 Until the book became really interesting。It is funny how we assume we know everything about our partners。 How we get accustomed to our routine， to our jobs。 It is also intriguing to see the sanctification of the image of someone when they pass away - all the bad is removed and only the good memories remain。 But everything gets questioned on Surprise Me。Sophie Kinsella builds up a fascinating narrative and interesting side characters。 Overall， a fantastic book。 I would highly recommend it。 。。。more

Although this was a very different kind of book in its own special way， I settled on only three stars。 It was very realistic in the sense that a lot of people have thought the same way Sylvie and Dan had。 I think you can either love this book or dislike it。 It’s not the most suspenseful or eventful story out there， but it was very touching and gave a very special message。

Sylvie wants to spice up her love life so she decides her and her husband， Dan， should plan little surprises for each other。 Most of these surprises fall apart but they do reveal a scandal that could shatter their marriage。 The plot was well written with many different side plots。 I wasn't sure where Kinsella was going with all the side plots so when they were all woven together for the shocking conclusion I was surprised， I never thought that scandal would have been that！ The romance between Sy Sylvie wants to spice up her love life so she decides her and her husband， Dan， should plan little surprises for each other。 Most of these surprises fall apart but they do reveal a scandal that could shatter their marriage。 The plot was well written with many different side plots。 I wasn't sure where Kinsella was going with all the side plots so when they were all woven together for the shocking conclusion I was surprised， I never thought that scandal would have been that！ The romance between Sylvie and Dan was a bit too mushy gushy， I hated the fact that they could finish each others sentences。 The surprises Dan and Sylvie planned each other were sweet but I found the aftermath even better。 I got a few good chuckles as surprises fell apart or had disastrous consequences。 Overall this was a funny and enjoyable novel。 I loved the ending and the path Sylvie decides to choose and to whom she showed her loyalty for。 I really liked how Sylvie showed sympathy and understanding to someone who could cause havoc for her future。 I would suggest this novel to everyone who enjoys humorous romantic/contemporary novel。 Thanks to Dial Press and Netgalley for this ARC。 。。。more

At first light and funny， a perfect antidote to all the depressing dystopian and disturbing horror genre I happen to be reading lately。 Anyone who is married （and has kids） will be able to relate to the humorous situations and daily idiosyncrasies that go along with them。 Then takes a more serious turn， reminding us that things are not always as they seem。 Finishing with a tidy HEA that hits the spot。

The main character Sylvie was sooo annoying and she made me angry throughout。 To the point I couldn’t really enjoy the book。 She was self absorbed， blind to reality and actually very ungrateful。 I usually really enjoy Sophie Kinella’s novels but this was not for me！

I’ve read several Kinsella books and typically find them enjoyable- even the shopaholic books aren’t my favorite but they’re still and easy， fun read。 This book was just boring。 I almost didn’t finish it but for some reason I just kept pushing through。 I should have just quit because it didn’t get any better。。。。I don’t recommend。
