Summary

Fantastic book series for helping children understand and deal with complex emotions like situations like depression and social anxiety。

This book was so fun! I loved the message it teaches young students, that it is okay to feel grumpy! Students need to hear that and not be afraid to feel these feelings。 This would be a great book when you are trying to teach emotional intelligence in the classroom!

The book “Grumpy Monkey” is an excellent book if you have English Language Learners in your classroom。 This book has a lot of rhyming in the story and this can assist English language learners in getting used to new words in another language as well as tying in the emotional side to this book。 The story talks about a grumpy monkey and how it is bad to hold in your emotions。 This would be a good book to read to younger students who are still discovering their different emotions and how to handle The book “Grumpy Monkey” is an excellent book if you have English Language Learners in your classroom。 This book has a lot of rhyming in the story and this can assist English language learners in getting used to new words in another language as well as tying in the emotional side to this book。 The story talks about a grumpy monkey and how it is bad to hold in your emotions。 This would be a good book to read to younger students who are still discovering their different emotions and how to handle them。 。。。more

I really enjoyed reading this book。 I think children would find this story interesting because it's about a grumpy monkey。 I also think children would like the illustrations because they’re attention grabbing and help tell the story。 I would recommend this book to teachers。 I really enjoyed reading this book。 I think children would find this story interesting because it's about a grumpy monkey。 I also think children would like the illustrations because they’re attention grabbing and help tell the story。 I would recommend this book to teachers。 。。。more

I think this book is definitely relatable to how we all get sometimes! We all have "one of those days" where everyone comments on our appearance or on our mannerisms for the day。 I definitely sympathize with Jim in this one! Good for explaining that sometimes we have different emotions other than happy and that sometimes we just need space or someone to sit with us, and to be able to have that emotion and experience it for a while, not to have people try to change the emotion。

Genre: modern fantasy Grade Level: Pre-2ndGreat book for talking about feelings。 Processing emotions is hard for children and even many adults! This book validates that feeling grumpy is okay and it also provides great ways that may help students to boost their mood (great reminders for parents, teacher, and the students for self regulation)。 But in the end it’s okay to spend some time being grumpy and it feels great to help our friends work through their emotions as well。

How relatable is this book?? I like that there are many characters in this book, it would be a great read-aloud since you could change your voice tone and even make the animal's sounds。 I like that it validates feelings that may be unhappy。 Kids change moods a lot and I always want my future students to know that it is okay to feel grumpy or sad sometimes! I love the illustrations in this book and enjoyed reading it to my little dude。 I think this is a great book to teach kids about feelings / validating their own feelings。 Sometimes it’s OK to be grumpy, heck I’m grump 90% of the time and I don’t know why either。 I would definitely recommend this book。

Captivating illustrations and a comically relatable story。 This book was about a monkey named Jim who lived in the jungle and was grumpy。 Jim did not know why if he was even grumpy at the beginning of the story。 His friend Norman came around and tried to figure out why Jim was grumpy but, neither of them knew why Jim was grumpy。 Norman and Jim went around the jungle, everyone tried to cheer up Jim but nothing worked。 Jim and Norman come to the conclusion at the end that it is okay to just be gru Captivating illustrations and a comically relatable story。 This book was about a monkey named Jim who lived in the jungle and was grumpy。 Jim did not know why if he was even grumpy at the beginning of the story。 His friend Norman came around and tried to figure out why Jim was grumpy but, neither of them knew why Jim was grumpy。 Norman and Jim went around the jungle, everyone tried to cheer up Jim but nothing worked。 Jim and Norman come to the conclusion at the end that it is okay to just be grumpy。 I think this book would be great for conversation starters about emotions with children。 It can be confusing to have certain feelings and not know how to handle them。 So having this conversation can be beneficial for both the children and adults because children will know what their emotions are and communicate it to the adult。 My favorite part was when Jim screamed “I’M NOT GRUMPY!” because sometimes that is how you truly feel when your day is just going downhill。 I really like this book in the sense that everyone was trying to help Jim but nothing was helping him。 He just needed to understand that it is okay to be grumpy and eventually everything will get better。 This book is great for ages 3-7, it is a fictional picture book that can be read to children or have them read on their own。 It is only 32 pages long but the text is appropriate and geared towards children, so they could read it on their own if they wished to。 Also, this book is a part of a four book series, so you can follow in Jim’s adventures and follow him and his jungle friends。I give this book 5 stars because it is important for children to learn about emotion and understand their feelings。 。。。more

This is a great book for an early childhood classroom! I enjoyed that the book talked about being grumpy and not knowing why。 Everyone wakes up one day and does not know why they are grumpy and this a great book to teach children the emotion of being grumpy。 I also like that it teaches the lesson of what makes other people feel better doesn't necessarily make us feel better。 It is up to each person to find what makes them happy and feel better。 I think this is a great book about getting in tune This is a great book for an early childhood classroom! I'm not a huge fan of monkeys, but I'm a fan of books that explore emotions so I ventured to read Grumpy Monkey when it came across my desk。 I really like it。 It reads aloud well and has opportunities to use different voices, group repetition: "I'm not grumpy!" and for interactive activity (roll, stroll and stomp your feet!)。 Jim Panzee (LOVE IT!) is having a not-so-good day。 His friends try to give him tips on how to cheer up, but he doesn't feel any better。 Sometimes when you are feeling grump I'm not a huge fan of monkeys, but I'm a fan of books that explore emotions so I ventured to read Grumpy Monkey when it came across my desk。 I really like it。 It reads aloud well and has opportunities to use different voices, group repetition: "I'm not grumpy!" and for interactive activity (roll, stroll and stomp your feet!)。 Jim Panzee (LOVE IT!) is having a not-so-good day。 His friends try to give him tips on how to cheer up, but he doesn't feel any better。 Sometimes when you are feeling grumpy, you need to just feel it and not try to run or hide from your emotions。 This book might be a good way to share that concept with kids, and probably some adults, too。 。。。more
