At it's core there's a cute wholesome story about a boy and his slimes helping people。 However this story was "otakufied" and it kills vibe that this story had at all。First the world is a game。 There are stats listed out to the people, skills and what level they are。THere's the fact that Ryoma is just super good at everything even archery。 His history is of course martial arts or whatever is needed to make him OP for the occasion。 (self-insert super OP power fantasy)Long waxing info dumps about At it's core there's a cute wholesome story about a boy and his slimes helping people。 However this story was "otakufied" and it kills vibe that this story had at all。First the world is a game。 There are stats listed out to the people, skills and what level they are。THere's the fact that Ryoma is just super good at everything even archery。 His history is of course martial arts or whatever is needed to make him OP for the occasion。 (self-insert super OP power fantasy)Long waxing info dumps about spells as if they were written in a gaming manual。Next we have a group of kemonomimi beast girls for no other reason that wank appeal。 While they aren't too sexualized in the words, the art has their clothing sliding down to reveal cleavage and the fact that the only male beastkin is a bipedal dragon man。 They really aren't adding to the story at all other than being wall decoration。Next we have the love interest that's another kid, but remember Ryoma is 39 in a kid's body, that wants a cleaner slime because girl。 Most of the words in the book are info dumps of slime skill, spell lists, random descriptions and other things that don't advance the plot in anyways。 The only thing that happens is that Ryoma saves the Reinbachs/harts? Goes to town, gets tested (passes 100% of course), joins the guild, cleans up Miya's (she's a cat) place, cleans the sewers。 That's it。 While it would have been a nice adventure without the otaku gaming stuff, it's kind of an annoying slog having to stop and info dump skills and other things all the time。There's also a part where Ryoma (as a 10 year old kid) works 3 days straight of overtime and nobody really says anything other than "don't overdo it"。 It's treated as some kind of achievement。 Gross。Overall a cute story buried if otaku gamer crap。 。。。more

A good read with a cute story

I had to watch this after seeing the Japanese anime series。 It tells the tale of Ryoma, who gets reincarnated as a little boy after dying from being overworked (He was a 42-year-old man originally)。 He takes up studying slimes and gets up to fantastic adventures。 If you love fantasy and love slimes, this is a perfect read。

I do not remember when I read it so the date is a stand in but I love this series。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is really interesting and gives more depth to the story than the anime could ever give。 It's really interesting having to see not just from Ryoma's perspective but also of the others。 Add to that the flashbacks from his previous life too。 It was really interesting。 I cannot wait to read more of this! Alright。I'd give it 3。5 stars。 The supporting cast is honestly a bit lacking, at least in this novel。 And the choice of names are too generic and having multiple family members with essentially carbon copy names makes it difficult to keep track of events。 I'm personally convinced even the author (or translator) might have muddled them up on at least one occassion, if accurate then what hope does the reader have? Finally。。。 Nothing really happens。 I know slice of life is an approach to writing, bu Alright。I'd give it 3。5 stars。 The supporting cast is honestly a bit lacking, at least in this novel。 And the choice of names are too generic and having multiple family members with essentially carbon copy names makes it difficult to keep track of events。 I'm personally convinced even the author (or translator) might have muddled them up on at least one occassion, if accurate then what hope does the reader have? Finally。。。 Nothing really happens。 I know slice of life is an approach to writing, but this seems beyond that to me。 Dissappointing。 。。。more

NiceThis is a very chill novel。 Very relaxing to read thought the last chapter seems like a waste to add but some might enjoy a little back story。

Tranquil and CalmingI really enjoyed this book。 It's a slow story about the main character that slowly progresses in very satisfying ways。 I found feeling myself better as the day went by and imagining having a cute little familiar。 Definitely a book for readers that can appreciate the calm and family。 Tranquil and CalmingI really enjoyed this book。 It's a slow story about the main character that slowly progresses in very satisfying ways。 I found feeling myself better as the day went by and imagining having a cute little familiar。 Definitely a book for readers that can appreciate the calm and family。 。。。more

4。5 out of 5 starsThis is a wonderfully relaxing isekai that still has the familiar feel you'd expect from one, but sets itself a part from the rest。 It's not focused on combat, getting stronger, or some big mission or quest。 It's the story of a man who's had a hard life, and got reborn into a magical world and is living his first life with happiness in it。 This book was a pallet cleanser for me。 The relaxed story line, high quality art, and overall feel of the story was dang near perfect。 I onl 4。5 out of 5 starsThis is a wonderfully relaxing isekai that still has the familiar feel you'd expect from one, but sets itself a part from the rest。 It's not focused on combat, getting stronger, or some big mission or quest。 It's the story of a man who's had a hard life, and got reborn into a magical world and is living his first life with happiness in it。 This book was a pallet cleanser for me。 The relaxed story line, high quality art, and overall feel of the story was dang near perfect。 I only took a half a star off because since I read so quickly, part of my requirement for a perfect review is that I can picture myself in the world far after I've finished the story。 And this one, while I could technically, I didn't feel any attraction to the idea。 It's your basic, classic medieval-but-slightly-not fantasy world。 That and the characters, while consist ant, didn't feel fleshed out enough aside from MC。 But don't get me wrong, it all fit very nicely within the story itself。 。。。more

Simple, enjoyable isekai fluff。 The protag is OP, as per usual, but not as obnoxiously so as in most other isekai, and basically just wants to live quietly。 Nice slice of life stuff when you need to relax。

Wholesome isekai, with good character development and storyline

Looking forward to the next volumeA light novel with a slight change to the Greene。 The concept of being blessed by the gods is a nice twist。 It provides another look at being reborn in another world。 The story is truly enjoyable to read and progresses at a pleasant pace。

I'm loving the slimesI love this story。 The background of how he died was especially funny。 In a genre overrun by truck kun。。。 It's nice to see something different。I'm digging the misunderstandings that result from his innocent comments about his past life。 I will definitely be getting the rest of the series。 I'm loving the slimesI love this story。 The background of how he died was especially funny。 In a genre overrun by truck kun。。。 It's nice to see something different。I'm digging the misunderstandings that result from his innocent comments about his past life。 I will definitely be getting the rest of the series。 。。。more

It's a good bookThis is a good book but it is not for me。 I do not enjoy books from one person points of view。 It is ok to have a main character but like to read about the world and what is happening in it。 It's a good bookThis is a good book but it is not for me。 I do not enjoy books from one person points of view。 It is ok to have a main character but like to read about the world and what is happening in it。 。。。more

This is just what I needed - light, fluffy, while away an afternoon whilst the weather is terrible reading。 It's a typical OP Isekai novel; but here I never begrudge Ryoma is powers。 He just seems to be floating through life just happening to have the right skill at the right time, bringing good fortune to the "good guys" (kind of like Ishmael in Quarter Share)Don't read if you expecting a deep and detailed plot to make you think。 Great for de-stressing :) This is just what I needed - light, fluffy, while away an afternoon whilst the weather is terrible reading。 It's a typical OP Isekai novel; but here I never begrudge Ryoma is powers。 He just seems to be floating through life just happening to have the right skill at the right time, bringing good fortune to the "good guys" (kind of like Ishmael in Quarter Share)Don't read if you expecting a deep and detailed plot to make you think。 Great for de-stressing :) 。。。more

An outstanding bookThis book was exactly what a lite novel should be。 It had a great mix of charictor development, skill and world building, an amazing story line, and many funny/heartwarming moments。 I cannot wait for the next and have already preordered it。

One of my Favorite web novelsThis originally started out as a web novel when ended too soon。 Eventually that web novel got a reboot, then this light novel adaption came to be。 I am so happy I am finally able to start collecting the Light novel and soon the manga as well。 No matter how many times I read this story, in its various formats, By the Grace of the Gods never fails to make me smile。 I hope one day it gets a proper anime adaption that isn't a gimmick to sell more novels。 It deserves many One of my Favorite web novelsThis originally started out as a web novel when ended too soon。 Eventually that web novel got a reboot, then this light novel adaption came to be。 I am so happy I am finally able to start collecting the Light novel and soon the manga as well。 No matter how many times I read this story, in its various formats, By the Grace of the Gods never fails to make me smile。 I hope one day it gets a proper anime adaption that isn't a gimmick to sell more novels。 It deserves many seasons。 I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes a soft, light hearted Isekai that's more world building and slice of life than anything else。 。。。more
