Summary

A twisty, spellbinding adventure about a girl and her dog who want to save the world, Danger and Other Unknown Risks is the highly anticipated YA graphic novel debut from Eisner Award-winning and New York Times bestselling creators Ryan North and Erica Henderson。

I'm gonna tell you a story, and I'm gonna ask that you let me finish before you say anything。

Here’s the deal—on midnight of January 1st, 2000, the world ended。 But it wasn’t technology that killed it: It was magic。 Now, years later, the Earth has transformed。 Magic works (sort of)。 People are happy (sort of)。 But this new world isn’t stable, and unless Marguerite de Pruitt and her canine pal, Daisy, do something about it, it’ll tilt into deadly chaos。 Good thing they’ve been training their whole lives for this and are destined to succeed。 Or so they think。

Ryan North and Erica Henderson, the bestselling masterminds behind The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, serve up a graphic novel that is equally laugh-out-loud adventure and emotional gut punch。 A story about the search for truth, chosen family, and rebirth, the journey of Marguerite and Daisy seeks to ask one vital question: How far are you willing to go to save the world?

another well crafted story I tell myself I get these sort of books for my kids。 But I always read them first, often third as well and make sure to talk about the tales with my kids。 They see details I don’t, I share references they don’t get。 So much here to enjoy。

I laughed out loud multiple times while reading it。 Between Daisy the dog’s dry wit and the use of “historical references” from the 1990s, my family became captivated in what I was reading。And the illustration work is 🤌🏼。 The use of color is truly outstanding。 I loved how different sections were just different tones and shades of one color。 Admiring the drawings is one of my favorite parts of reading graphic novels!Once I hit the last 50 pages, I couldn’t put it down。 I braved reading in the car on our way to dinner while my husband drove the curviest road in Cincinnati, through the hilliest, pot-hole laden streets to finish it。 That is the highest compliment I can give a book。I kept reading sections of it to my 12 year old, who immediately snatched it from my hands when I read the last page。I think this one is appropriate for as young as 10 and entertaining for adults of any age! 。。。more

This was…a book。 But it was definitely not one for me。 It was far too weird。 Honestly, it was just cringey to read。 I think there are people who will enjoy it, so I don’t want to say too much negative about it, because I don’t think it was objectively bad, I just really don’t think it was for me。 For some reason, I kept thinking of Captain Underpants? I have never been SO sucked into a story and so quickly。 I picked this up at 10pm just to have a quick look at it and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting。 This was fun, adventurous, twisty and so funny。 You'll have this idea of how the story will play out and still be surprised by the ending because there's layers to the twists。I adored Marguerite and her optimistic and spunky attitude。 This story is full of great characters because I also really loved Daisy and a certain other charac I have never been SO sucked into a story and so quickly。 I picked this up at 10pm just to have a quick look at it and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting。 This was fun, adventurous, twisty and so funny。 You'll have this idea of how the story will play out and still be surprised by the ending because there's layers to the twists。I adored Marguerite and her optimistic and spunky attitude。 This story is full of great characters because I also really loved Daisy and a certain other character that joins them。 I love a good ragtag, chosen, found family trope so this book was perfect for me。If you like books with ragtag crews embarking on epic quests, hilarious dialogue, loveable characters, and stories that make you think and feel something, read this book!*Penguin Teen provided me with a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review* 。。。more

A gorgeous fantasy land illustrated by beautiful art and filled with characters I was dying to know more about。 I read this in one sitting。 The plot twist was unexpected but it fit perfectly into the story and worked so well。 The comedy was also amazing, I’m obsessed with that toad。

Hi I'm Ryan, and I made this book with Erica Henderson! So I am extremely biased when I say "WOW FIVE STARS", but it IS a book I'm really proud of, and Erica did some incredible work here。 We began with the idea of wanting to explore the idea of "chosen one" narratives and our frustration with them, and it all spun out from there。 It's a book we're both super enthusiastic about, and as our first reunion since The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, I think you'll find a lot of similarities with that serie Hi I'm Ryan, and I made this book with Erica Henderson! A magical adventure featuring a plucky heroine, an intriguing magic system, and the humor and heart one expects from Ryan North and Erica Henderson。 My only complaint is that I wish it were longer。Thank you to Penguin Teen for the digital ARC of this book。

Danger and Other Unknown Risks by Ryan North and Erica Henderson was a hilarious read。 This story had me laughing out loud the entire time。 Marguerite and Daisy make an exceptional team at saving the world。 I thought the scene where the kid runs away saying this is something my DM would say was hilarious。 So true。 Sounds like something I would be saying or thinking in that given situation。 I felt when Jacin came in the story became even funnier。 I felt like there could have been more to the endi Danger and Other Unknown Risks by Ryan North and Erica Henderson was a hilarious read。 This story had me laughing out loud the entire time。 Marguerite and Daisy make an exceptional team at saving the world。 I thought the scene where the kid runs away saying this is something my DM would say was hilarious。 So true。 Sounds like something I would be saying or thinking in that given situation。 I felt when Jacin came in the story became even funnier。 I felt like there could have been more to the ending, as it felt it wrapped up rather quickly, and I wanted to know a little more。The graphics were nicely done。 I found the font hard to read at times, mostly because it felt too small。 I received an eARC from Penguin Teen through NetGalley。 All opinions are 100% my own。 。。。more
