Summary

In this fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling series from Edgar Award winner James Ponti, the young group of spies go codebreaking in Cairo in another international adventure perfect for fans of Spy School and Mrs。 Smith’s Spy School for Girls 。

Codename Kathmandu, better known as Kat, loves logic and order, has a favorite eight-digit number, and can spot a pattern from a mile away。 So when a series of cyberattacks hits key locations in London while the spies are testing security for the British Museum, it’s clear that Kat’s skill for finding reason in what seems like randomness makes her the perfect candidate to lead the job。

And while the team follows the deciphered messages to Egypt and the ancient City of the Dead to discover who is behind the attacks and why, Kat soon realizes that there’s another layer to the mystery。

With more players, more clues, and involving higher levels of British Intelligence than ever before, this mission is one of the most complex that the group has faced to date。 And it’s also going to bring about a change to the City Spies…

I absolutely ADORE this series! It is so smart and clever。 The kids act like kids, not like overly precocious little adults。 The adults are nurturing but fallible。 The books sneak education in without being overly clunky or data dumps。 I liked learning more about Egypt! The mystery is secondary to seeing the team work。 Ponti slips in a new character, and I'm really hoping their betrayal has an explanation, because ouch! Can't wait to read book 5! This book once again reminds me why I should be reading more middle-grade books。 The thrill and suspense of these are like no other。 I love this little-found family with all my heart and I will do anything to protect them。 I find pieces of myself in each of these characters and that’s what makes me love it even more。 Paris and his older sibling self, Brooklyn and her love for tech, Sydney with her spontaneity, Kat and her love for math, and Rio and his love for food。 These are all parts of me th This book once again reminds me why I should be reading more middle-grade books。 The thrill and suspense of these are like no other。 I love this little-found family with all my heart and I will do anything to protect them。 I find pieces of myself in each of these characters and that’s what makes me love it even more。 Paris and his older sibling self, Brooklyn and her love for tech, Sydney with her spontaneity, Kat and her love for math, and Rio and his love for food。 These are all parts of me that I find in this beautiful family。 Then there’s Monty, with her love language is making food for the rest of them。 And last but not least Mother and his motherisms。 They are truly iconic。 Ok now enough about the characters。 This time, our City Spies have a very complex mission (as usual)。 Them casually traveling through the British Museum like it’s not a heavy security building? Flex! And they are all 11-15-year-olds! The trip to Berlin and the four different clocks possibly related to the Kryptos sculpture? That was epic。 Especially how Sydney swooped in to save it at the last minute。 Egypt was pure chaos, and while I’m someone who thrives there, Kat isn’t。 And that small bonding between Kat and Monty? Tell me they’re the most perfect family。 Even if they are the most unconventional ones out there。 Just read it。 You will absolutely love it。 。。。more

This series continues to be a lot of fun。 The info-dumps in this one were a little heavy-handed, and some of the POV switching within the narration felt clunky。 But overall, this is a great installment in the series and adds some great new developments。

Another great addition to the City Spies series。 As always, the book is filled with excitement, intrigue, and 6 amazing kids using their individual talents to solve a mystery the adults can’t quite figure out。 More answers were given,, but, yet again, Mr。 Ponti leaves you wanting more。 When is the next book coming out?!?!

I was looking forward to reading the fourth installment of the City Spies series and was definitely not disappointed! This one was just as good as the first three。 Following the group of young spies from the British Museum to the ruins of ancient Egypt while they work to stop a cyberattack, this book was filled with twists and turns from start to finish。 With her love of logic and her amazing analytic skills, I enjoyed watching the character of Kat shine as she led the team。 While these books ar I was looking forward to reading the fourth installment of the City Spies series and was definitely not disappointed! As someone who loves “kid books,” I am really enjoying this series。 Clean, fun, sibling focused。 And there is always fun historical information embedded in the stories。 I would definitely recommend this series to elementary/middle grade readers (or other adults who enjoy a good kids spy novel 🤷‍♀️😄)。

Another page-turner! Wonderful storytelling! Great fun!I love these characters。Great armchair travel in this book and in this series。 One thing I was disappointed about in this book is that the relationship dynamics seemed too close to the same as they were in the first three books。 What I saw seemed to be primarily working relationships。 Given that the kids were adopted I was hoping for a cozier family feel。 There is a bit of that but way too little for my taste。 There is a character who is new Another page-turner! WE LOVE City Spies! My 10yo twin boys and I still read together every night and City Spies is our Favorite! This one did not disappoint! Although - the plot twist has us a little bit devastated at the moment - equally because of the twist and because we have to wait for the next in the series to keep reading!

Just keeps getting better!Every City Spies book is somehow even better than the ones before it。 This one is no exception。 Ponti is a master at keeping readers on their toes and turning those pages。 There’s so much world culture built into these books and this one does the same。 The characters are well-developed and the plot is not easily predictable。 This one ends on a big cliff hanger。 I can’t wait to see what will happen in book 5!

As an AI language model, I do not have personal opinions but I can provide you with information about the book "City of the Dead" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child。 "City of the Dead" is a thriller novel published in 2003 and is the third book in the series featuring FBI agent Aloysius Pendergast。 The plot revolves around the mystery that unfolds when Pendergast discovers that his wife, Helen, whom he has long believed to be dead, is in fact alive and being held captive in New Orleans。 Pendergast travels to the city to find her, but soon becomes embroiled in a series of murders that seem to be connected to an ancient Egyptian cult known as the Order of the Sphinx。 The book has received positive reviews for its plot, memorable characters, and atmospheric setting。 It is a fast-paced and suspenseful read, and fans of the Pendergast series will likely enjoy it。 However, some critics have also noted that the plot can be convoluted at times, and that the characters may come across as overly eccentric。 Despite these minor criticisms, "City of the Dead" remains a popular entry in the Pendergast series and a thrilling read for fans of the genre。
