Summary

Darley, the eldest daughter in the well-connected, carefully-guarded Stockton family, has never had to worry about money。 Darley followed her heart, trading her job and her inheritance for motherhood, sacrificing more of herself than she ever intended。 Sasha, Darley's new sister-in-law, has come from more humble origins, and her hesitancy about signing a pre-nup has everyone worried about her intentions。 And Georgiana, the baby of the family, has fallen in love with someone she can't (and really shouldn't) have, and must confront the kind of person she wants to be。

Rife with the indulgent pleasures of life among New York's one per centers - glittering parties, weekend homes and hungover brunches - Pineapple Street is a scintillating, escapist novel that sparkles with wit and wry humour。 Full of recognisable, loveable if fallible characters (and a few appalling ones!), it's about the peculiar unknowability of someone else's family, the miles between the haves and have-nots and everything in between。

Firstly thanks you to NetGalley, Jenny Jackson and the publishers, Random House UK for the opportunity to read this ARC in return for an honest review。 I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Jenny Jackson has a brilliant writing style which just allows the sentences to flow and the ages to fly by。 HOWEVER, and it’s probably a fairly big however…I’m not quite sure what the point of the book was。 The story is nice enough, the characters all playing their part, especially Sasha, Georgiana and Darley, but Firstly thanks you to NetGalley, Jenny Jackson and the publishers, Random House UK for the opportunity to read this ARC in return for an honest review。 I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Jenny Jackson has a brilliant writing style which just allows the sentences to flow and the ages to fly by。 HOWEVER, and it’s probably a fairly big however…I’m not quite sure what the point of the book was。 The story is nice enough, the characters all playing their part, especially Sasha, Georgiana and Darley, but I’m just struggling to understand the point。 It barely went anywhere and just seemed like a look at the life and times of the Stocktons without much else。 Oh well…a nice easy read and definitely worth a look。 。。。more

3。5⭐️。 Quick easy read。 Enjoyable but not a lot of depth for characters or plot。

Very readable novel。 Entertaining and somewhat witty。 But, overall, I found that it didn’t live up to the hype。 I felt that the characters were very one dimensional 1 percenters and while some would say that all of the characters had a moment of truth with respect to money and class issues, I didn’t really see much in the way of real change。

I loved this book! A quick, easy read - I loved watching these characters grow and evolve over the course of the story。 I definitely started out disliking the Stockton family。 A family with a long line of inherited wealth - they come of as snobbish and uncaring。 However as the story continues and each character faces unique challenges, we see that we are able to change。 I loved having alternating perspectives giving me different views as the story progressed。 A wonderful debut novel - hoping the I loved this book! This book was okay。 It's a somewhat boring account of a wealthy old-money NY family, the Stocktons, their trust funds and their 1% "problems"。 The characters are shallow and vapid, and there is very little plot or character development。 I'm giving it three stars instead of two because it is well written and entertaining, in the way that a beach read is entertaining。 The ending wraps up loose ends unconvincingly。 Jackson, the author, is a top-notch editor and executive at Knopf。 She inhabits the This book was okay。 It's a somewhat boring account of a wealthy old-money NY family, the Stocktons, their trust funds and their 1% "problems"。 The characters are shallow and vapid, and there is very little plot or character development。 I'm giving it three stars instead of two because it is well written and entertaining, in the way that a beach read is entertaining。 The ending wraps up loose ends unconvincingly。 Jackson, the author, is a top-notch editor and executive at Knopf。 She inhabits the world she writes about。 Until recently, she live with her husband on Pineapple Street in Brooklyn (where much of the novel takes place), and recently purchased a condo with a wraparound terrace in Brooklyn Heights for $4。2 million。 The novel feels uninspired -- as though Jackson made a list of themes she thought could sell as popular fiction and as a Netflix tv series, and wrote that novel。 If you are looking for a mindless, fluffy book with characters who have no substance, then this would fit the bill。 。。。more

DisappointedThe story is unoriginal。 The characters and dialogue are predictable。 There was much here to explore of the one percent of Americans but never revealed anything other than what might be seen on a tv sitcom of the very rich。

An enjoyable read with a few unlikeable characters。 A tale about how the 1% lives and their sometimes, oblivion to how the rest of the world live。 It took one of the Stockton children, Cord, to marry out of money to bring awareness to the story by bringing in Sasha to bring attention to reality。 The Stocktons come from old money and mother Tilda is both oblivious to those who aren't as rich as much as she's oblivious to the what's really going on with her adult children - Cord, Darley and Georgi An enjoyable read with a few unlikeable characters。 A tale about how the 1% lives and their sometimes, oblivion to how the rest of the world live。 It took one of the Stockton children, Cord, to marry out of money to bring awareness to the story by bringing in Sasha to bring attention to reality。 The Stocktons come from old money and mother Tilda is both oblivious to those who aren't as rich as much as she's oblivious to the what's really going on with her adult children - Cord, Darley and Georgianna。 Darley gives up her career for her husband Malcolm to raise two children and harbors a sore spot for her brother Cord who marries the middle class, artist, Sasha who were given Cord's parents' house on Pineapple Street to live in。 Sasha finds it a bit like an old fashioned gaudy mansion of days of past and is scrutinized for her decisions, wanting more simplicity, by her upper class sister-in-laws and mother-in-law。 Sasha tries to be friends with everyone, but her bougie sister-in-laws call her a gold digger behind her back - when clearly, she is not。 In fact, her acceptance of signing a prenup (at her mother in-law's insistence) with lame defense from Cord who fluffs it off as though it was for his own protection, would have been enough to send me packing - especially when his defense was 'his family comes first', before his wife to be。Darley's husband loses his important job and is afraid to let her parents know。 Georgianna is a spoiled young woman who has no understanding about money。 She falls in love with a married guy, believing he'll leave his (pregant) wife for her some day, until tragedy strikes and Georgianna falls into a crazed depression, but her family are too self-centered to even notice until she loses it at Sasha's baby reveal, and all the ugly truths start coming out。At the end, the characters begin to recognize their flaws, apologies are made, and poor Sasha finally gets her wish for a brand new home - away from Pineapple Street。I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley。 。。。more

Plotless book。 The overall message on wealth disparity and racism felt forced & inorganic。 Likely because it was written by a rich white woman。

I think the author did a great job of writing an entertaining book with interesting characters…however, Pakistan is NOT part of the Middle East。

I enjoyed this escapist, character driven book about an uber-rich New York family, some of whom become a smidge more self-aware during the telling。 Easy to read, good vacation book。

This is a nice tale about a wealthy Brooklyn family。 It is light and amusing and a humorous reflection about different views of the privileged life and its impact on younger generations。 It was more character driven and less plot driven。 I would even say there wasn’t really much plot, but I loved all the characters and found many to be very entertaining。 So if you want to read something not too intense, this is one for you。

If you're in a slump or just want some escapism then this IS the book you need to read ! New York setting, family drama , characters you love to hate , it's like real housewives in print form。 It's easy reading without being over the top , but if you do not like reading about privileged New Yorkers then stay away! 。 It's a character drivel novel rather than plot and is essentially a good family drama about wealth, class and privilege 。 I've heard a TV adaptation is in the works and I cannot wait If you're in a slump or just want some escapism then this IS the book you need to read ! Fun, easy read that honestly kept me entertained the whole time。 There were moments that had me cringing, holding my head in embarrassment, and times when I just wanted to shake the characters and tell them how insane they're being。*Note。。。don't sleep with married men。 Especially after you know they're married。 It never ends well lol* Fun, easy read that honestly kept me entertained the whole time。 There were moments that had me cringing, holding my head in embarrassment, and times when I just wanted to shake the characters and tell them how insane they're being。*Note。。。don't sleep with married men。 Especially after you know they're married。 It never ends well lol* 。。。more

A nice quick read。 I normally dislike books where the story jumps around from different characters viewpoints because it makes it hard to follow the story, but in general it worked well here。 It was like watching a sitcom for a season。 You get to know the characters, how they relate to one another, and how they respond to the ups and downs of life。 And the finale brings everyone together and makes you smile。

Okay, with all the hype surrounding this book I was super hesitant and did not purchase a copy。 Borrowed it from the library thinking it would be a DNF。 Here I am, hours later, finishing it in one sitting。Extremely well developed, author gets family dynamics and handles them superbly。 I felt myself cringing for Sasha and Georgiana。 Serious but it doesn’t take itself too seriously。Loved every page except the one that had a typo。 Recommend!

How can Sasha get rid of all of the crap the house her in-laws are letting her and Cord live in? Should Darley feel bad that she doesn’t use her education and stays home to raise her children? Though each woman has some moments of clarity and objectivity throughout the novel, they don’t really change much。 The men are mostly amiable but boring。 Not much happens in this character-driven story set in a very rarefied world。I am not sad that I read Pineapple Street, but there are a lot of other books out there that are undoubtedly more worthwhile and have more to say about our complex and troubling world。 。。。more
