With their services no longer needed, the friends head for home, but on the way, they run into an old enemy who has picked up some bizarre new powers and an obsession with destroying them。 Now Tokio and Azuma only have one chance to make it out alive—by becoming the superpowered creatures known as choujin!

I am not quite sure about this one, so I am going to rate it on the "it was ok"。Sui Ishida style in this one seemed to me more confusing and less clear than TG。 Same with the presentation and some of the characters。 They seemed quite disconnected and the information was being revealed in big chunks with less relevant parts in between that did not quite connect smoothly。 The humour was also lost in me。 I was expecting dark humour and found something more akin to teens being teens。 Which again, no I am not quite sure about this one, so I am going to rate it on the "it was ok"。Sui Ishida style in this one seemed to me more confusing and less clear than TG。 Same with the presentation and some of the characters。 They seemed quite disconnected and the information was being revealed in big chunks with less relevant parts in between that did not quite connect smoothly。 The humour was also lost in me。 I was expecting dark humour and found something more akin to teens being teens。 Which again, not what I currently enjoy the most。 I am very intrigued by the main idea, not quite interested in the characters as not a lot was shown, but i will definitely keep an eye on it because I think it has all the potential。 。。。more

Sui Ishida is back in the manga world!!Choujin are people with monstrous abilities that has destroyed most of the world, Including the prefecture where best friends Tokio and Asuna live。 Asuna is the town's hero, while Tokio is considered the useless sidekick of the duo, until one day when a bully, a choujin himself, takes things a step too far and the boys inject themselves with a mysterious substance。 Now Tokio has to learn how to control his new choujin powers to become the hero。 Meanwhile, A Sui Ishida is back in the manga world!!Choujin are people with monstrous abilities that has destroyed most of the world, Including the prefecture where best friends Tokio and Asuna live。 Asuna is the town's hero, while Tokio is considered the useless sidekick of the duo, until one day when a bully, a choujin himself, takes things a step too far and the boys inject themselves with a mysterious substance。 Now Tokio has to learn how to control his new choujin powers to become the hero。 Meanwhile, Atly, a kind tomato farmer girl, is currently being chased down by a psycho smoke dude for copying his choujin abilities。 I really like how the story and chapters are told from the dual perspectives of Tokio and Atly, it makes each other's stories a bit more dynamic when being told, especially when they finally run into each other。 There is a lot of mystery and intrigue which is fun, the characters themselves feel unique, and there's also a lot of humor in this which is a pleasant surprise。I absolutely love the art! It is sketchy, unrefined, and beautiful。 Also there are numerous two-page spreads throughout the book and they are all gorgeous! There's a very chill vibe to the series even though there's a lot of action (similar to Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Vol。 1,) that along with Tokio's personality, this reminds me of Call of the Night, Vol。 1。 There's also a (hero) character that looks strikingly similar to Allmight from My Hero Academia, Vol。 1, though his personality is still unknown。 There is a lot of mysteries surrounding choujin, and I can't wait to dig in deeper into further volumes!Check out my bookstagram! @Witchy。Otaku 。。。more

I'm a fan of Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul, so whwen I'd seen that there was a new series, also monster-based, I knew I had to read it! In this universe, we meet Tokio and Azuma, best friends who volunteer to clean up a plane crash wreckage caused by what they think is a Choujin, a humanesque monster who can transform and use untold of powers--usually for malevolent purposes。 When investigating, they come face to face with a Choujin and Tokio must inject himself with Choujin blood。。。or die。 Always the ru I'm a fan of Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul, so whwen I'd seen that there was a new series, also monster-based, I knew I had to read it! I really loved Tokyo Ghoul so I was excited to be able to keep up with Ishida’s new manga series 😎 This definitely feels a little younger(??) than his previous work, but I still enjoy the story so far。 He’s such a talented illustrator, the art was super cool! I’m looking forward to seeing where this story is going to go and following along with it!

The high point of this piece is the dynamic between the two main male characters, which verges on the homoerotic without really pretending to be sub textual。 Sadly, everything else a out it is bog-standard shonen fare。

I'm confused, I either really liked it, or really thought it was stupid, and I can't decide which it is。 This was the follow up series from mangaka Sui Ishida, whose prior series Tokyo Ghoul is one of my ALL TIME favorites。 This book starts out very similar to Tokyo Ghoul, which is maybe the part that I hate about it。 Being a new, unrelated series, you would think it would have fresh, NEW ideas。 Not so much the case。 This reminded me of 3 different other stories/shows/manga/anime (Chainsaw man, I'm confused, I either really liked it, or really thought it was stupid, and I can't decide which it is。 This was the follow up series from mangaka Sui Ishida, whose prior series Tokyo Ghoul is one of my ALL TIME favorites。 This book starts out very similar to Tokyo Ghoul, which is maybe the part that I hate about it。 Being a new, unrelated series, you would think it would have fresh, NEW ideas。 Not so much the case。 This reminded me of 3 different other stories/shows/manga/anime (Chainsaw man, One Piece, Mob Psycho) that are not even from this author。 There were times the chapters went all over the place and made absolutely no sense with why what was happening was happening。 The part I did like however, was how far the author illustrated really dark events。 After reading an article online (after wondering what the hell I actually just read) someone said, that in his prior series Tokyo Ghoul, the dark dark horror elements weren't present, like when Keneki breaks an arm or what not, that it wasn't "dark" enough。 Here the author took the chance at it, but it gets lost for me with the other weird quirky things that happened after。 For instance one dark element was a the plane fire near the beginning (not really spoiling anything), but then a few pages later, there's a dude with a neck like a pool noodle attacking someone。 It went from dark to whimsical comical in a matter of seconds。 The story jumps around a lot too, and I felt like it was all interconnected, then 2 minutes later going, wait is it? Then by the end I went "ok this is what he was setting up" but still it was losing my interest。 I'll maybe read #2 when it comes out here in the states (if my library gets it, since that's where I picked it up)。 But I'm not really holding my breath。 Sorry Sui, Tokyo Ghoul was better, just wish you added some of the dark elements of this in it instead of using it here。 。。。more

Choujin are people who have the ability to subconsciously manipulate the atoms at the core of their being, granting them strange powers。 There are a few ways a person becomes a Choujin, and our main character Tokio ends up turning into a Bird Choujin after circumstances force him to inject some Choujin-making drug。There's also a parallel plot going on about a farm girl who was attack by a Choujin on a plane and became a Choujin through infection。 These two plots collide somewhere in chapter 5。So Choujin are people who have the ability to subconsciously manipulate the atoms at the core of their being, granting them strange powers。 There are a few ways a person becomes a Choujin, and our main character Tokio ends up turning into a Bird Choujin after circumstances force him to inject some Choujin-making drug。There's also a parallel plot going on about a farm girl who was attack by a Choujin on a plane and became a Choujin through infection。 These two plots collide somewhere in chapter 5。So far, this plot is highly similar to Sui Ishida's other work Tokyo Ghoul。 Protagonist-kun is a wallflower who gets turned into a monster, has to figure out how to hide the fact that he's a monster, almost gets killed by a monster girl, and then gets rescued by a different monster girl。 The order of the events are bit mixed up, but still。 Also, the art style of the cover is not the same quality as the actual manga。 Parts of the manga have so many lines that I can't tell what is happening, or even which way is up or down。 Overall, not bad。 I did enjoy reading it and I am looking forward to the next volumes so。。。 we'll see。 。。。more

When I heard that Ishida was writing a new series, and that a lot of people thought it was too similar to Tokyo Ghoul I was so nervous。 Tokyo Ghoul was one of the first manga series that I really fell in love with and still adore to this day, so heading into the mangaka's new works I tried my best not to play the comparison game and take it as what it is - an entirely new work with its own narrative focus and characters。 Unfortunately to me this read a lot like a mix of Tokyo Ghoul and My Hero A When I heard that Ishida was writing a new series, and that a lot of people thought it was too similar to Tokyo Ghoul I was so nervous。 Tokyo Ghoul was one of the first manga series that I really fell in love with and still adore to this day, so heading into the mangaka's new works I tried my best not to play the comparison game and take it as what it is - an entirely new work with its own narrative focus and characters。 Unfortunately to me this read a lot like a mix of Tokyo Ghoul and My Hero Academia, and I don't particularly enjoy the latter。 I do think this has the potential to get better and develop further, particularly as Tokio learns to handle his abilities more and we learn more about the set-up of the world, but I didn't feel any initial draw to the characters, and the attempts at humour really didn't work for me。 。。。more

Who drew that? Why? 😭

Tokyo Ghoul was the manga that got me into reading manga, and is one of my favourites。 So it's apparent that I'd read Sui Ishida's second series Choujin X / 超人 X。 Like Tokyo Ghoul, it's getting released in Weekly Young Jump and in Japan there are currently five volumes published。 You can read the chapters for free legally on the Manga Plus App by Shūeisha。A plane crashes and is unharmed along with the 200 passengers。 An accident that causes a stir even in a world populated by people with superna Tokyo Ghoul was the manga that got me into reading manga, and is one of my favourites。 So it's apparent that I'd read Sui Ishida's second series Choujin X / 超人 X。 Like Tokyo Ghoul, it's getting released in Weekly Young Jump and in Japan there are currently five volumes published。 You can read the chapters for free legally on the Manga Plus App by Shūeisha。A plane crashes and is unharmed along with the 200 passengers。 An accident that causes a stir even in a world populated by people with supernatural abilities。 High school student Tokyo and his best friend Azuma volunteer to help clean up the crash site as aspiring heroes should。 The two soon find out firsthand that normal mortals prefer not to get involved in the affairs of superhumans。。。A decent start in the series。 That seems promising though there are some similarities with Tokyo Ghoul and has aspects just like any other generic Shonen series。 Nonetheless I hope Ishida's new series will be unique and successful。 。。。more
