Summary

Never trust an assassin。

Celaena's story continues in this second book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J。 Maas。

Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King's Champion。 But she is far from loyal to the crown。 Though she goes to great lengths to hide her secret, her deadly charade becomes more difficult when she realises she is not the only one seeking justice。 Her search for answers ensnares those closest to her, and no one is safe from suspicion - not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a princess with a rebel heart。

Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy。 As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie 。。。 and what she is willing to fight for。

The second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series returns readers to a land destroyed by liars, where one woman's truth is the only thing that can save them all。

I know I have many more books any this series and parts of this I really liked and parts not so much。 No spoilers just vague statement from me :) Why did they have to kill her? Why couldn't they stay together? I am already on to book 3 can't wait to see what happens next。 I know I have many more books any this series and parts of this I really liked and parts not so much。 No spoilers just vague statement from me :) Why did they have to kill her? Lo he disfrutado más en esta relectura al tener más cariño a los personajes。 Había muchas cosas de las que no me acordaba, así que genial。Queda superinteresante para el siguiente libro

Amanda

A little slow in the beginning, but finally around 70%, the pace picks up and pieces start coming together。

I think this was my favorite book in the series when I first read through it。 Still very good, even though a lot of things were obvious and quite frustrating。 One thing that always remains the same, Celaena stays being a bad bitch。 Love her and her crazy。 Demons and all。 She should really stop spelunking creepy places though。

Alright I’m hooked。 Throne of Glass was moderately good but this one blew it out of the water (sensing a pattern here SJM)。 Can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

Loved the end of the book most

A lot easier to get into than the first book, like most sequels。 we could get straight into chatacter development and interaction instead of introducing them。 The plot was way stronger in this one because as fun as I guess it was the tournament thing wasn't actually that engaging。 We finally got some rly cool worlbuilding (wyrdkeys, witches, magic)。 idk why but i fucking loved the idea of iron-toothed witches。 mort was a weird addition but okay。 I'm super happy she got with chaol instead of dori A lot easier to get into than the first book, like most sequels。 we could get straight into chatacter development and interaction instead of introducing them。 The plot was way stronger in this one because as fun as I guess it was the tournament thing wasn't actually that engaging。 We finally got some rly cool worlbuilding (wyrdkeys, witches, magic)。 idk why but i fucking loved the idea of iron-toothed witches。 mort was a weird addition but okay。 I'm super happy she got with chaol instead of dorian cuz ive been saying since the first book that he was a WAY better match for her than him。 I hope she gets back with him eventually but based on the fanart (sus and not sus) that ive seen I dont think that happens (crying emoji)。 They were so cute tho that whole birthday thing made me wanna cry and throw up。 get fucked dorian lmao。 The big aelin reveal got spoiled for me but I think she foreshadowed it well。 (I think archer's betrayel was rly badly foreshadowed tho)。 I didn't like that the big ending thing was just another big monster fight, but seeing celaena and dorian use magic was cool。 I'm excited to see what happens on a whole nother continent, tho i hope we still get POVs from ppl back in Erilea(?)。 I think taylor said this was her least favorite but i still liked it a good deal more than the first。Notes (sun moon emojis I dont remember how to put emojis in here and im not looking it up)-I finally get why the king is such a big threat because last book I was just like "Hes just some GUY like just stab him right???" but no hes got ancient power and a secret army of monsters and NOW im rly excited to see what he does as a villain cuz I eat that evil immortal god-emperor stuff up (belos, leto II, lord ruler mistborn)-I hope the king turns himself into a monster-roland was kinda dropped but i wanna know why he has a ring and what perrington's gonna do to katlain。 I feel awful for her-theres so many dropped plot points to cover in future books-I feel like maas stopped focusing on eyes so much in this one-taylor and madison both said they hated archer (they were right) so I expected him to betray her but damn was it worse than I expected。-the series doesnt seem super grimdark but goddamn does maas go all out when describing murder scenes like everyone's always disembowled and shit -mort sorta just feels like a way to give celaena info when she needs it but hey thats writing-i still cant believe she killed nehemia like that。 Like i rly didnt think she'd stay dead till we saw her ghost in the portal-literally I read the whole section where chaol and celaena were just happy in love together and i was like "hm maybe I should download a dating app" I didnt obv but still like GODDAMN-like it was so cute and sweet and that scene where she made him a little garden birthday dinner holy fucking shit-"She’d meant the dinner to be a nice surprise—a way to tell him how much she appreciated him—but his reaction 。。。 How long had it been since he felt cherished?" 2nd time a book made me physically recoil and both of them were a recommendation from taylor - madison gave me shit for writing sex scenes with a fade to black but thats what Maas did here。 kissing and some starting stuff then BAM next scene and they talk a bit abt what happened later-I love that celaena isnt one of those characters who forgives and forgets she just kills u horrifically and it rocks-girlbossing-awful that she still cant trust chaol but i mean I get it。 He did kinda choose king over her and nehemia-dorian finally gets something to do besides feel bad about celaena because he has magic!-i totally called that the wyrdkey was in the queens crown as soon as I read the poem celaena kinda stupid for that-i was told that the third book fucks so im rly excited for it-cant believe im turning into a sarah j maas girlie after all this time smh ill probably never bother with acotar but crescent city interests me 。。。more

I don’t know why it took me 8 months to finish this book, but the promise I got from friends that the story picks up after this book was the only thing that kept me plugging away at it。I always overrate books in general, but I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 because the ending was satisfying enough and it had me wanting to know what happens next。This was my least favorite book by SJM yet, but I still bought the next book 😆

3。5 starsI liked this book slightly more than the first one and I am giving some room to (hopefully) rank some of the rest of the series more。 I'll be honest, I read the first book long ago and completely forgot I even read it。 Rereading the first book again made me understand why I felt it was so forgettable。 The book was slightly better and started to really hook me at the end。 If this series didn't get the hype it gets I probably wouldn't continue。 I also am a big ACOTAR fan so I am just hopi 3。5 starsI liked this book slightly more than the first one and I am giving some room to (hopefully) rank some of the rest of the series more。 I'll be honest, I read the first book long ago and completely forgot I even read it。 Rereading the first book again made me understand why I felt it was so forgettable。 The book was slightly better and started to really hook me at the end。 If this series didn't get the hype it gets I probably wouldn't continue。 I also am a big ACOTAR fan so I am just hoping it goes the same way where the first book (in this case first two) is mostly building up to the real story。Celaena is way more likable in this book, I am happy we got to finally see her in badass assassin mode。 Because the last book did not make me believe she was the best assassin。 I hope we get more bad ass Celaena (。。。。) In the next book。Unfortunately, I accidentally spoiled the twist ending to this book for me, but I am glad it is finally revealed。 However, I am looking forward to (what I suspect based on a spoiler) a different romantic interest because I am not a big fan for Dorian or Chaol (I do like Dorian better tho)。 。。。more

SJM will write a 400 page book and at page 350 I’m wondering how she’s going to wrap this up in time。 Waste no pages must be her motto。 And it works for me, the ultimate hater of an elongated ending。 Book two was better than book one。 The story was more fun and twisty。 And I love a book with a riddle。 HOWEVER, can a girl get some phonetic spellings of these made up words and names? Seriously, how hard it is to add to the front or back of the book? This book would have been so much better without that boring love triangle that makes no sense at all, less Chaol (I think he's lame, sorry not sorry), and more Dorian。 More Nehemia, too。2。8/5 This book would have been so much better without that boring love triangle that makes no sense at all, less Chaol (I think he's lame, sorry not sorry), and more Dorian。 More Nehemia, too。2。8/5 。。。more
