This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Loved the premise; unexpected vampires were tastefully done; the characters are well written。 But the MC was annoyingly dense and in denial for too long。 BUT THE BATHTUB SCENE

I really wanted to get back into fantasy because it feels like I took a break from it。 I haven't felt too enthused to start one lately but this one reminded me of my love of fantasy。This felt like it gave me a different feeling as a fantasy world。 It was one of those worlds that made me feel like I was reintroduced to fantasy, something I haven't experienced in a while。 It was a good feeling since the main character Romeria, realizes there's world beyond her own, which I found out is called port I really wanted to get back into fantasy because it feels like I took a break from it。 I haven't felt too enthused to start one lately but this one reminded me of my love of fantasy。This felt like it gave me a different feeling as a fantasy world。 It was one of those worlds that made me feel like I was reintroduced to fantasy, something I haven't experienced in a while。 It was a good feeling since the main character Romeria, realizes there's world beyond her own, which I found out is called portal fantasy。 It was probably because it was through her POV that it gave me this feeling of reinvigoration of discovering a new world。 Through Romeria's perspective, she discovers things about her new surroundings which gave me, as the reader, the same experience。 Which, I must say, felt refreshing, since I feel like I have mostly read fantasies where characters live in or are already aware of a magical world。 It proved my expectations wrong with this idea。 I actually initially thought this would be a high fantasy where the world is already a conscious thing to the characters。 However, by way of a forced entry into a world beyond Romeria's own, she finds out about this new place。 The more interesting part of Romeria's beliefs of this world, is that she is a skeptic。 I personally, found this to enhance her POV。 She was firmly set against the idea of magic because she thinks her parents are delusional in raving about things unseen。 So it's only through force that Romy goes through the character arc of discovery that drew me in as well。 As the world is slowly revealed to her, I had that nose to the book intrigue that had me hooked。 Not only is there many revelations about the world itself but in typical fantasy, there is also some romance。 I could tell from the synopsis this would be a hate to love type of romance。 Romeria's love interest, Zander hates her because of something that she did, but it was not really her that he hates。 In a non spoiler explanation I was thrilled to see how the hate to love trope was twisted up a bit in putting Romeria in a world unknown to her。 As with her discovery of this world, relationships and power dynamics are new to her。 In discovering the power dynamics, the magic system, and relationships, Romy navigates court life in this new world。 Which, i think in some cases makes this not the type of fantasy for people who love a lot of action。 I personally, usually prefer action to keep up excitement, but the whole secrets and lies dynamic was enough to keep me immersed。 Things are revealed that also helped the reader see the world building and in general, the system that is established in this world。 It was through some of these secrets that 'intrigue' part of court came into play。 And, there definitely was al of intrigue in that there was one big plot twist that turned things around for me。 I think I gasped out loud because it was a big reveal but it surprised me nonetheless。 I think the only reason why I deducted a star, was because I did think that at times it did lag a bit。 Otherwise, this world re-immersed me into the entrancing world of fantasy again。 It mesmerized me with the mysteries of the court life and the way in which Romy is introduced into this world。 As a fan of fantasy, this was a unique experience in rediscovering a magic filled world。 。。。more

I picked this up without knowing very much about it, and really enjoyed it。 It has the same trope that a lot of fantasies do—woman is a very powerful being and doesn’t know it—but also has the added element of this woman being a human from NY that gets dropped into a magical realm。 There was a lot of info-dumping, which slowed the plot down sometimes, but I did really enjoy all of the character building。This was enemies-to-lovers and there was a lot of angst, but I honestly wish there was more。 I picked this up without knowing very much about it, and really enjoyed it。 It has the same trope that a lot of fantasies do—woman is a very powerful being and doesn’t know it—but also has the added element of this woman being a human from NY that gets dropped into a magical realm。 There was a lot of info-dumping, which slowed the plot down sometimes, but I did really enjoy all of the character building。This was enemies-to-lovers and there was a lot of angst, but I honestly wish there was more。 I do like their dynamic, though, and I’m excited to see where it goes。 。。。more

This book was nothing like I expected it to be! Unique, captivating, and interesting, Romeria’s story had me from the beginning。 There were a few moments throughout the story were the pace slowed down, but it didn’t bother me as much due to the plot that was active。 The romance is subtle and the tension is thick, but the chemistry between Romeria and Zander is TOP TIER。 And when the spice finally does hit? THIS REVIEW IS FOR AUDIO LISTENERSOkay, so I hate leaving a negative review。 I loved this book, I devoured it。 I tried to listen to it first, and I couldn't。 The narrator sounded like a news caster reading from a teleprompter。 So I read it bedside and devoured it and instantly searched for book 2, which is only out on audio。 So, me with my memory of a goldfish, I got the second book in audio and triiiiiiied, but I couldn't。 Why can I not find the BOOK?! Took me forever to get through。 Really info dumpy at parts and honestly confusing when she first gets to the world。 I don’t understand how something can both be too info dumpy and also confusing but this book did it。 Wasn’t terrible。 Parts were fun and I liked a few of the characters but I don’t think enough to keep reading the series。

Interesting predicament and little plot twist。

Got sucked in and finished this in two days。 The world building was kind of confusing (I’m still not sure I understand it completely), but the romance kept me reading chapter after chapter。

4 strong stars! I'm very much enjoying this paranormal historic fantasy series by K。A。 Tucker and agree with the reviews that bucketed it into the same kind of genre as the Blood & Ash series by JLA。 So anyone who's enjoying Poppy's story will also love this one。 I'm already on book two and am very excited for the final installment to be released in September。 4 strong stars! wow! such a fun & exhilarating read to say the least。 An enemies to lovers plot with a twist that has to be one of the most unique takes yet for this trope。 Tucker builds such a unique world, combing a multitude of fantasy elements that make for a beautiful mental visual。 highly recommend as I’m hooked, second book here we come!

Very enjoyable。 It starts out like a contemporary fantasy but transition to a fantasy world。 Romy is a thief。 A great one。 When a strange woman takes interest in her, she finds she is in a bigger mess than where she was before。 An agreement lands a stab to the heart and waking up to chaos in a different world。 A fantasy world where she is accused of killing the Queen and King。 Trapped and confused she has to use her wits to survive and come to terms with the doppelgänger Princess she now is。 And Very enjoyable。 It starts out like a contemporary fantasy but transition to a fantasy world。 Romy is a thief。 A great one。 When a strange woman takes interest in her, she finds she is in a bigger mess than where she was before。 An agreement lands a stab to the heart and waking up to chaos in a different world。 A fantasy world where she is accused of killing the Queen and King。 Trapped and confused she has to use her wits to survive and come to terms with the doppelgänger Princess she now is。 And find out who she truly is。 I really like this story。 At first I thought the main character was someone else。 But now know she’s just a side that set this story in motion。I like Romy personality。 She’s snarky, smart, and clever。 She is also very compassionate。 Saving slaves and giving money away。The story ends with the Spare, Prince and Commanader of the Kings army having a coup and her having to run away with the exile King。Where will their journal continue?Fated Romance thru prophecy Magic ElvesConspiracy Meddling fated godsCalm spicy 🌶️ 。。。more

The back and forth enemies to lovers in this story is addicting。 I kept waiting for more bombs to drop ! And drop they did! I just kept wanting to yell at the characters! FMC and MMC both are going through equally hard battles and the drama of it all!!! So so good!

This confused me at some point, but overall I really enjoyed this。 You can't really go wrong with enemies to lovers。 The romance is a slow burn and it takes most of the book for things to get heated, but it's worth the wait。 I enjoyed the characters, the world, the secrets, the magic, and reincarnation。 Books like this can easily feel like other books, but this was really unique。 It was a fun and easy read, can't wait to get my hands on the next book。 This confused me at some point, but overall I really enjoyed this。 You can't really go wrong with enemies to lovers。 The romance is a slow burn and it takes most of the book for things to get heated, but it's worth the wait。 I enjoyed the characters, the world, the secrets, the magic, and reincarnation。 Books like this can easily feel like other books, but this was really unique。 It was a fun and easy read, can't wait to get my hands on the next book。 。。。more

This story started and ended with a bang but the middle was haaaard to get through。 I found it super slow going, political and unfortunately I’m feeling no real connection or infatuation with the whole “enemies to lovers” love interest。 I have no faith or belief in Zander and Romy’s relationship, find there’s no connection and just can’t even see how these two even love each other, feels very unrealistic and forced。 I don’t know why, but the characters just aren’t grasping and holding my attenti This story started and ended with a bang but the middle was haaaard to get through。 I found it super slow going, political and unfortunately I’m feeling no real connection or infatuation with the whole “enemies to lovers” love interest。 I have no faith or belief in Zander and Romy’s relationship, find there’s no connection and just can’t even see how these two even love each other, feels very unrealistic and forced。 I don’t know why, but the characters just aren’t grasping and holding my attention。 Romeria is really the only interesting character but she just continuously gets stomped on by the other characters and Zander, who I just don’t like at all。 This book took me a month to get through cause I never felt motivated to pick it up, bleh。 The last 15-20% of the book is what is making me consider continuing on with the series。 Hopefully I got past all the info dump and politics and can now enjoy the rest , fingers crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻 。。。more

Found this in my search for a new spicy fantasy romance series。 Not as much spice as I was looking for but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it。 So far one of the few fantasy romance series where the first book doesn’t make me eye roll into the sun half the time。 And it’s not an obvious (to me anyway) copycat of other popular worlds and plot lines in said genre。

Too many fantasy book titles follow the "A __ Of __ And ___" structure。 I struggle to associate the storyline with the book!!I really enjoyed A Fate of Wrath & Flame。 Like a lot of people, I thought some sections were laden with politics BUT the world itself was very cool。 I'm surprised there is not more hype surrounding A Fate of Wrath & Flame。 Too many fantasy book titles follow the "A __ Of __ And ___" structure。 I struggle to associate the storyline with the book!!I really enjoyed A Fate of Wrath & Flame。 Like a lot of people, I thought some sections were laden with politics BUT the world itself was very cool。 I'm surprised there is not more hype surrounding A Fate of Wrath & Flame。 。。。more

I'll start off by saying I read a lot of the reviews for this book before giving it a whirl。 I'm a slave to audiobooks so that was my go to while I was trying to find something new, and found that I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrator HOWEVER when I messed around with the speed of the audio it didn't trigger my timbers quite so much。Technology aside, the pace of this book was quite slow but I did enjoy the dense worldbuilding。 I know some people HATE info dumping, but I'm secretly here for it I'll start off by saying I read a lot of the reviews for this book before giving it a whirl。 I'm a slave to audiobooks so that was my go to while I was trying to find something new, and found that I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrator HOWEVER when I messed around with the speed of the audio it didn't trigger my timbers quite so much。Technology aside, the pace of this book was quite slow but I did enjoy the dense worldbuilding。 I know some people HATE info dumping, but I'm secretly here for it all day every day because I love luscious and rich high fantasy and I will literally jam up your phone with theories and that requires lots of info for me to spring board off in the first place。Now, ya gal is NOT a fan of low, urban fantasy。 I don't know why, I just can't get on board with magic in 20th century Earth。 I can't explain it, it just drives me crazy。 Maybe it's because if there was magic we wouldn't be in half the pickles we're in now but that's a whole different kettle of putrid fish (I know I know it's FANTASY but still, one can wish)。 So you can imagine my elation when I realised that technically, this book IS NOT low urban fantasy。The main character was slightly problematic to me, her sense of self preservation considering she is supposedly an established thief was pretty shocking however I enjoyed her attitude to the situation she finds herself in - her adaptability as a thief made a lot of sense in that regard。 But I liked her sass and the dialogue that she was involved in, and I think the writer did a great job of establishing that her colloquialisms as different to that of the place she finds herself。 Whilst this isn't my favourite book I've ever read, the prose was really fluid and enjoyable and I found myself listening to it as often as I could, so that tells me something in regards to the drip feeding of info igniting my 'BUT I MUST KNOW MORE' compulsions。 Again I found the worldbuilding to be dense but really interesting, but if you're not into like a serious amount of info dumping this might not be the book for you。All in all I felt like this was a pretty solid start to a dense new universe and I'll definitely be giving the rest of the series a read, and I hope that the author is looking to do some spin off books in this universe cos I really enjoyed learning about the histories and how the universes intertwined。 。。。more

3。25⭐️This book was okay, I just wish it had… more? Romeria gets dumped in a foreign world and is taken prisoner by the king after being accused of murder。 Due to this, she spends most of the book locked in a tower, therefore blocked from exploring。 As a result, she learns so much about this world through question and answer。 The sheer amount of info dump as a result was off putting。 I found myself skimming these sections because I just wanted to get back to the interesting parts。 When I read fa 3。25⭐️This book was okay, I just wish it had… more? Probably, since with how book 1 ended it gives promise of some action, or at least I hope it does。 。。。more

I am writing a review of the first book because I just finished the second book and this series is worth it。This stayed a 3-star read after my second reading, which I consider a good- but not memorable- read。 That said, I strongly recommend sticking with this series。 I enjoyed the second book a deal more than the first one。 Mainly due to what- IMO- Tucker did right: she did not over-hype the plot of the series in the first book。 I actually thought the first book was fairly forgettable in terms o I am writing a review of the first book because I just finished the second book and this series is worth it。This stayed a 3-star read after my second reading, which I consider a good- but not memorable- read。 That said, I strongly recommend sticking with this series。 I enjoyed the second book a deal more than the first one。 Mainly due to what- IMO- Tucker did right: she did not over-hype the plot of the series in the first book。 I actually thought the first book was fairly forgettable in terms of the plot。 Not much happened to keep me interested。 This is why I think the foreshadowing in the first book fooled me spectacularly and why, so far, there are no wasted plotlines。 The pacing stays the same, which really shines when doing a continuous reading from book 1 to book 2, and the character's development is satisfying to read。 。。。more
