Summary

The highly anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestselling thriller everyone is talking about, One of Us Is Lying! There's a new mystery to solve at Bayview High, and there's a whole new set of rules。

Come on, Bayview, you know you've missed this。

A ton of copycat gossip apps have popped up since Simon died, but in the year since the Bayview four were cleared of his shocking death, no one's been able to fill the gossip void quite like he could。 The problem is no one has the facts。

Until now。

This time it's not an app, though—it's a game。

Truth or Dare。

Phoebe's the first target。 If you choose not to play, it's a truth。 And hers is dark。

Then comes Maeve and she should know better—always choose the dare。

But by the time Knox is about to be tagged, things have gotten dangerous。 The dares have become deadly, and if Maeve learned anything from Bronwyn last year, it's that they can't count on the police for help。 Or protection。

Simon's gone, but someone's determined to keep his legacy at Bayview High alive。 And this time, there's a whole new set of rules。

One of Us is Lying was a fantastic poolside whodunnit - I read it on holiday in Menorca in one sitting。 This one was kind of meh, I think because it was a bit samey and was more of a side story continuation。 The thing I think is really good in these books are the characters。 They’re weirdly likeable。 I love Maeve (as ever), Knox, Phoebe and Luis in particular - they just feel so real and I love their interactions。 Buuuuut the whole thing was wildly far fetched。 It was a good interim read but oth One of Us is Lying was a fantastic poolside whodunnit - I read it on holiday in Menorca in one sitting。 This one was kind of meh, I think because it was a bit samey and was more of a side story continuation。 The thing I think is really good in these books are the characters。 They’re weirdly likeable。 I love Maeve (as ever), Knox, Phoebe and Luis in particular - they just feel so real and I love their interactions。 Buuuuut the whole thing was wildly far fetched。 It was a good interim read but other than seeing the character relationships develop from the first one, it didn’t wow me。 If you want something light and easy then go for it, but don’t expect as many twists and turns and turmoil as the first plot。 。。。more

I really enjoyed reading this one。 I couldn’t remember much of the plot or characters from One of Us Is Lying, but it didn’t take long before I remembered why I loved the first book so much and Karen M。 McManus’ writing! It’s a great YA thriller with an intriguing and suspenseful plot and characters who got so much depth。 We get to know all of the characters, but it’s done in a way so I didn’t get overwhelmed。

Not very often do I come by a mystery where there are dots that can be connected by the readers。 Dots that are Chekhov's guns。 Dots that aren't extremely vague and basically non existent。 One of us is next keeps us guessing, isn't a the dog did it! or the butler did it! Aside from being a wonderful story, it stands up besides the first book, a hard act to follow。 Not very often do I come by a mystery where there are dots that can be connected by the readers。 Dots that are Chekhov's guns。 Dots that aren't extremely vague and basically non existent。 One of us is next keeps us guessing, isn't a the dog did it! or the butler did it! Fun to revisit previous characters and make acquaintance with new。 McManus juggles the impossible task of keeping the voices as dissimilar as possible so as not to confuse her elderly audience。 Me。I thought the plot a lot more contrived and heavy handed but, truth to the truth, it didn’t matter since all the people are interesting and the narration is such, as I said, fun。 (Can’t wait for a third visit to the world’s most unenviable school, I really can’t - let’s see what Owen gets up to when he Fun to revisit previous characters and make acquaintance with new。 McManus juggles the impossible task of keeping the voices as dissimilar as possible so as not to confuse her elderly audience。 Me。I thought the plot a lot more contrived and heavy handed but, truth to the truth, it didn’t matter since all the people are interesting and the narration is such, as I said, fun。 (Can’t wait for a third visit to the world’s most unenviable school, I really can’t - let’s see what Owen gets up to when he joins the proper weirdos and discovers sex - apparently he’s 9 so he’ll have to wait only a year or so。。。。。。。。。) 。。。more

I was expecting it to be based off the characters from the first book one of us is lying, but the characters are either friends or siblings of the original Bayview 4。 its a good story this author does a great job of never letting you know what's about to happen next。 I was expecting it to be based off the characters from the first book one of us is lying, but the characters are either friends or siblings of the original Bayview 4。 its a good story this author does a great job of never letting you know what's about to happen next。 。。。more

So I was really looking forward to reading the sequel to one of us is lying and wanted to do it before the end of February。 This is a good sequel to the first book however I did not quite enjoy it as much。 The book was intriguing and captivating trying to work out who was behind this deadly game and the pace once again was good。 However it took a while for me to get to grips with all the new characters。 With this being a sequel I obviously knew some but there were a lot of new characters to try So I was really looking forward to reading the sequel to one of us is lying and wanted to do it before the end of February。 This is a good sequel to the first book however I did not quite enjoy it as much。 The book was intriguing and captivating trying to work out who was behind this deadly game and the pace once again was good。 However it took a while for me to get to grips with all the new characters。 With this being a sequel I obviously knew some but there were a lot of new characters to try to remember and consider。 I loved the continuing writing style with different narrative voices。 I did not see the big twist coming but by the time that came a lot of the plot was very far fetched and did not feel I could invest fully in it。 I still enjoyed the book and was taken back at all the twists but there were elements that just took the plot a bit too far。 。。。more

Imagine, not even two years after a tragic death in your school, which resulted in a murder mystery case, another death occurs, and the cycle of the murder mystery repeats itself once again。 One of Us Is Next, by Karen M。 McManus, is the sequel to an award-winning murder mystery novel, One of Us Is Lying。 In this addition, Brandon Weber, one of the school's star baseball players, is found dead。 After all Bayview has went through in the past 18 months with the recovery of the overwhelming death o Imagine, not even two years after a tragic death in your school, which resulted in a murder mystery case, another death occurs, and the cycle of the murder mystery repeats itself once again。 One of Us Is Next, by Karen M。 McManus, is the sequel to an award-winning murder mystery novel, One of Us Is Lying。 In this addition, Brandon Weber, one of the school's star baseball players, is found dead。 After all Bayview has went through in the past 18 months with the recovery of the overwhelming death of Simon Keller, who hindered his own death and placed the blame on four other Bayview students, another incident is a great deal to take in。 Now, the question returns, what was the cause of his death? Was it carelessness? A harmless thing gone wrong? Or was Brandon Weber targeted and murdered? Throughout all of this, a game is passing throughout the school。 A texting Truth or Dare, which causes drama and incidents。 Could this game lead back to Brandon's death? Even so, who or who all is behind this game?In One of Us Is Next, a common theme that appears is that gossip can consume you and cause unwanted outcomes。 Bayview students take the lure of gossip too far when they torment and make fun of other students due to rumors, which may not even be true。 Even the students who are aware and know of the danger that gossip can cause, they find themselves eager for what is coming next, especially when they believe the subject of the gossip has nothing to hide。 In the book, two students, Phoebe and Knox attempt to stay above the rumors and gossip, but still tend to find themselves falling into the trap of the talk within the school。 When not completing the task of the truth or dare texting game, a mass text is sent out to the school of a secret or rumor the person may not want others to know。 This causes more gossip and talk within the school, which can affect many people in the end。After a year and a half since Simon's death, Bayview has already endured so much。 With this new app and murder mystery, this book has a fast-paced events and constant twist and turns。 Causing the reader to become so involved within the book。 I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy murder mystery novels and to people who have read One of Us Is Lying。 If you want to know what the cause of Brandon Weber's death was and what the motifs behind it were, read One of Us Is Lying。 。。。more

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book because of the writing and good suspenseful fun。 I didn't think there was a way to have a sequel but McManus does a great job not necessarily focusing on the Bayview Four, rather on those who were on the outskirts of the first novel。 McManus does a great job with pacing and makes reading fun。 There were some plot holes but who cares when you are flying through this novel trying to figure out the end。 I thoroughly enjoyed the first book because of the writing and good suspenseful fun。 I didn't think there was a way to have a sequel but McManus does a great job not necessarily focusing on the Bayview Four, rather on those who were on the outskirts of the first novel。 McManus does a great job with pacing and makes reading fun。 There were some plot holes but who cares when you are flying through this novel trying to figure out the end。 。。。more

Quite entertaining and fun! I might have enjoyed it more if I was actually a teenager in high school rather than a fully grown adult though。 I liked it but because I had to suspend my disbelief so much I felt that it was middle of the road。

Jolly good follow up for One of us is Lying。 I liked the ending and I really like it that the author didn't drag it on and spend time explaining etc。 Just went to here's who done it, no further, which many a author sadly do。 A book don't have to end on a silver plate, I enjoy when you can go - I wonder who/what/when/where after you had read The End。 Jolly good follow up for One of us is Lying。 I liked the ending and I really like it that the author didn't drag it on and spend time explaining etc。 Just went to here's who done it, no further, which many a author sadly do。 A book don't have to end on a silver plate, I enjoy when you can go - I wonder who/what/when/where after you had read The End。 。。。more
