This book is so imaginative and such a good read。 When I first read it I had a whole world set in my mind that looked just like it。 It is so enchanting to read along with a teacher or someone and be able to imagine。

My 8-year-old grandson loaned me this heartbreaking book when I ran out of reading materials while visiting him。 I regret not finding time to read Bridge to Terabithia when my children were talking about it decades ago because then I could have cried with them instead of all by myself。

Yes very sad and the movie is great… but the book has so many fatphobic and sexist parts。 Basically the only attempt at humor is to make fun of how big people are。 The amount of jokes about fat camps or double chins is absurd。 Or the creepy part watching his sister change。 I get that it’s a bit older but still… yuck。 Just stick to watching the movie

This middle-grade book is also entertaining for adults to relive a little of their youth。 The struggles with siblings, kids at school, and eventually finding a friend that gets you as a person。 While many may say that the end of the book was too harsh, I think it shows how tragedy can build people into stronger humans, even at a young age。

boring /: the movie is much better and far more detailed。 i really wanted to like the book but i just didn’t

I just finished this book and loved it! I only gave it a four because it was sad at the end。 I loved it, but I am not into super-low books。 The author is fantastic though!!!! I finished this book in one day, but most people would not。

My only complaint about this book was that it wasn't long enough。 Of course, this book was written for a much younger audience, but I have a big imagination and would have loved to see even more of Terabithia。I loved how this book addressed so many topics; being different at school, having a strained relationship with your parents, bullies, changing and growing, conquering fears, religion and God, and, of course, grief, especially at such a tender age。I love that the chapter where Leslie dies is My only complaint about this book was that it wasn't long enough。 Of course, this book was written for a much younger audience, but I have a big imagination and would have loved to see even more of Terabithia。I loved how this book addressed so many topics; being different at school, having a strained relationship with your parents, bullies, changing and growing, conquering fears, religion and God, and, of course, grief, especially at such a tender age。I love that the chapter where Leslie dies is titled "NO!" Isn't that how we all feel when someone we love dies? An immediate denial and fervent wish and prayer that it isn't true, that somehow just saying that they aren't dead must make it so。 Some of my favorite quotes from the book:"It never occurred to Jess that parents were meant to be understood any more than the safe at the Millsburg First National was sitting around begging him to crack it。 Parents were what they were; it wasn't up to you to try to puzzle them out。""She was more at home with magic than religion。""It wasn't so much that he minded telling Leslie that he was afraid to go; it was that he minded being afraid。 。。。 Lord, it would be better to be born without an arm than to go through life with no guts。""It was Leslie who had taken him from the cow pasture into Terabithia and turned him into a king。 He had thought that was it。 Wasn't king the best you could be? Now it occurred to him that perhaps Terabithia was like a castle where you came to be knighted。 After you stayed for a while and grew strong you had to move on。 For hadn't Leslie, even in Terabithia, tried to push back the walls of his mind and make him see beyond to the shining world - huge and terrible and beautiful and very fragile? (Handle with care - everything - even the predators。)"Now it was time for him to move out。 She wasn't there, so he must go for both of them。 It was up to him to pay back to the world in beauty and caring what Leslie had loaned him in vision and strength。" 。。。more

Like being able to breathe freely when one's calling calls it, gliding into a Terabithia is supposed to be everyone's prerogative。It is the bridges that must be willed into shaping access, entitlement, and expressiveness。Jesse and Leslie are like those characters who have never not met; their rendezvous are reassuring for the earnest reader beyond requisites or expectations。Here's to a tiny hidden branch, a modest creek of a stream, an unassuming arch over which to instate even a mere pedestal, Like being able to breathe freely when one's calling calls it, gliding into a Terabithia is supposed to be everyone's prerogative。It is the bridges that must be willed into shaping access, entitlement, and expressiveness。Jesse and Leslie are like those characters who have never not met; their rendezvous are reassuring for the earnest reader beyond requisites or expectations。Here's to a tiny hidden branch, a modest creek of a stream, an unassuming arch over which to instate even a mere pedestal, for that is reasonably enough。 。。。more

"It ain't the same for dogs。 It's like the smarter you are, the more things can scare you。"Honest, poignant and existential, 'Bridge to Terabithia' meanders subtly amidst the little children's world。 In so doing the projections reach much deeper into universal aspects of human existence。 The way it seeks to tug at the chords of companionship, loss, courage, empathy as well as mere pleasures of little discoveries, both good and bad, amidst the undulations of growing up is wholesome and heartfelt。 "It ain't the same for dogs。 It's like the smarter you are, the more things can scare you。"Honest, poignant and existential, 'Bridge to Terabithia' meanders subtly amidst the little children's world。 In so doing the projections reach much deeper into universal aspects of human existence。 The way it seeks to tug at the chords of companionship, loss, courage, empathy as well as mere pleasures of little discoveries, both good and bad, amidst the undulations of growing up is wholesome and heartfelt。 。。。more

What a great book。 I've seen the movie as a child。 It surprised me how little crazy things and how little imagination we got to see of Leslie and Jess。 The movie was filled with all there creativity and fantastical creatures。 While the book did not have this I still found it very interesting。 I find it hard not to compare the book to the movie。 The movie having so much strong imagery that has stuck with me to this day。 The book did not give this to me but the things that happened in the lives of What a great book。 I've seen the movie as a child。 It surprised me how little crazy things and how little imagination we got to see of Leslie and Jess。 The movie was filled with all there creativity and fantastical creatures。 While the book did not have this I still found it very interesting。 I find it hard not to compare the book to the movie。 The movie having so much strong imagery that has stuck with me to this day。 The book did not give this to me but the things that happened in the lives of these 2 children was very interesting。 。。。more
