With almost 7。8 billion people sharing the earth, it can be a little hard to picture what the human race looks like all together。 But if we could shrink the world down to just 100 people, what could we learn about the human race? What would we look like? Where and how would we all be living? This book answers all these questions and more!

Reliably sourced and deftly illustrated, If the World Were 100 People is the perfect starting point to understanding our world and becoming a global citizen。 If we focus on just 100 people, it's easier to see what we have in common and what makes us unique。 Then we can begin to appreciate each other and also ask what things we want to change in our world。

Brilliant。 This visual guide breaks down our global humanity statistics in a tangible way that fosters connection and empathy while also inspiring change。 There is so much here to consider and it makes big questions accessible to little minds。 Bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I've always wondered once in a while how the world would look on a smaller scale because it's so hard to imagine that we share this rock with (almost) 8 BILLION people! This book illustrates our society perfectly, weighing how many people in our global village have access to food, clean water, housing, education, electricity, the internet, and more。 I've always wondered once in a while how the world would look on a smaller scale because it's so hard to imagine that we share this rock with (almost) 8 BILLION people! I love the concept of this book-kids need to see visual representations of how we are alike and different。 I was amazed and astounded by many of the statistics in the book and was over the moon that they included their resources

I love this picture book that screams to be analyzed and picked apart through discussion with students。

Finally! A book dealing with population statistics with real life applications that make sense to young children。 Nothing scary, very realistic, inclusive illustrations。 Highly recommended! I pre read this for a 6 year old and suggest other caregivers do the same。

The problem with any book like this is that those five stars are for it right now。 In a few years the book will be out of date and in need of a new edition。 But for right now this is one of the best versions of this premise I've seen precisely because of its visual representation。 It shows a hundred people on each page and groups them into young and old, hair and eye color, continent of origin, language, etc。 The page where it shows ten people with 85% of the wealth and 90 people standing around The problem with any book like this is that those five stars are for it right now。 In a few years the book will be out of date and in need of a new edition。 But for right now this is one of the best versions of this premise I've seen precisely because of its visual representation。 It shows a hundred people on each page and groups them into young and old, hair and eye color, continent of origin, language, etc。 The page where it shows ten people with 85% of the wealth and 90 people standing around the remaining 15% is oof, and I like the discussion questions on the last page that directly talks about the likely reaction that students will have to learning about statistics on things like lack of food, lack of internet access, and other inequities。 Surprisingly this one doesn't discuss religious groups, which I feel is the only thing maybe missing if you're going to do a big survey of human diversity, but perhaps they were worried about how to show that visually without resorting to stereotypes, I don't know。 Overall, though, a highly recommended children's book。 。。。more

A fun infographic picture book about worldly statistics。 My child found the stats fascinating and surprising。

this is a really smart way to give young readers an insight on global population, honestly it’s a great book to give insight to people like me - adults who have no conception of how many people actually exist。 It breaks down injustices that exist in our world through simple numbers, and states them as fact - ie。 10% of the global population possesses 85% of the global wealth and this is stated by saying that 10 people in this global village would have that, whereas the other 90 people get what’s this is a really smart way to give young readers an insight on global population, honestly it’s a great book to give insight to people like me - adults who have no conception of how many people actually exist。 It breaks down injustices that exist in our world through simple numbers, and states them as fact - ie。 10% of the global population possesses 85% of the global wealth and this is stated by saying that 10 people in this global village would have that, whereas the other 90 people get what’s left。 (that’s a simple example but you get it)。Would recommend! 。。。more

What would the world look like if represented by 100 people? What color hair and eyes would they have, what language or religion? Who would have access to food, or the internet?A terrific book to launch global studies。 Interesting facts, great fodder for discussion with kids。

Best for ages 6+ because little ones can't really grasp most of the concepts from this book。 I found it very educational。 It talks about what percentage of the world has black hair or doesn't have electricity etc。 It's got bright bold pictures and the info is broken down into easy to read little sections。 Best for ages 6+ because little ones can't really grasp most of the concepts from this book。 I found it very educational。 It talks about what percentage of the world has black hair or doesn't have electricity etc。 It's got bright bold pictures and the info is broken down into easy to read little sections。 。。。more

On every page, they do show the people split up in different ways, but some of the pages are so busy that it's hard to get an impression of how many people fit any category。And I'm not sure why they felt that they had to change the orientation of the pages (must turn book sideways) for the education spread of all things!

Packed a lot of information in this little book, yet reading was a breeze! With all the fun layers of illustration and unique paragraph placement, it was a joy。Only critique is that the 100 people in the village didn't always seem to be the same set for each page spread。 It would have been nice to follow the same group of characters around each topic。Loved how the book tackled economic and physical characteristics。 Overall a great introduction to learning about our "world village!"
