Farm der Tiere hat mich wirklich begeistert。 Allgemein ist George Orwell ja für seine gesellschaftskritischen Plots bekannt。 Während mir bei 1984 der Schreibstil gar nicht zugesagt hatte， fand ich ihn hier toll。Besonders das Lesen der zweisprachigen Ausgabe hat mir gut gefallen， weil ich so immer mal wieder Wörter nachschauen konnte， die ich nicht verstanden habe。Obwohl das Buch 1945 veröffentlicht wurde， finden sich viele aktuelle Denkanstöße darin。Gerade für Leute， die wie ich Sozialwissenscha Farm der Tiere hat mich wirklich begeistert。 Allgemein ist George Orwell ja für seine gesellschaftskritischen Plots bekannt。 Während mir bei 1984 der Schreibstil gar nicht zugesagt hatte， fand ich ihn hier toll。Besonders das Lesen der zweisprachigen Ausgabe hat mir gut gefallen， weil ich so immer mal wieder Wörter nachschauen konnte， die ich nicht verstanden habe。Obwohl das Buch 1945 veröffentlicht wurde， finden sich viele aktuelle Denkanstöße darin。Gerade für Leute， die wie ich Sozialwissenschaften studieren， ist dieses Buch ein Muss。 Es gibt so viele Parallelen zum Marxismus und Sozialismus， die jedoch auch ohne großes Vorwissen zu verstehen sind。 Eine von vorne bis hinten total gut erzählte Geschichte， die mich in den Bann gezogen hat， sber trotzdem sehr kurzweilig war。 （Ab hier Spoiler） Besonders die Geschichte von Boxer， der sich am Ende fast totgearbeitet und dann einfach ersetzt wurde， hat mir zu denken gegeben。 。。。more

Having read 1984 last year。 I knew i would have to read Animal Farm at some point。 Its just a famous book i simply had too read。 To my suprises a rather short tale。 Im not going to explain the plot。 Its infamous enough google it if you want too。 I enjoyed the story telling of it from a third person perspective。 Orwel doesnt patronise his readers by giving them the persepctives of the horses or the sheep or the pigs。 He wants you to see the silliness that is the Russian Communism of Stalin。 And i Having read 1984 last year。 I knew i would have to read Animal Farm at some point。 Its just a famous book i simply had too read。 To my suprises a rather short tale。 Im not going to explain the plot。 Its infamous enough google it if you want too。 I enjoyed the story telling of it from a third person perspective。 Orwel doesnt patronise his readers by giving them the persepctives of the horses or the sheep or the pigs。 He wants you to see the silliness that is the Russian Communism of Stalin。 And i understand it is satire。 But at some points i kept thinking。 Is this too silly？ I understand that im probably missing the point by saying this。 But some of the imagary toward the end of the book is silly。 I feel like if this book was written in a modern day， it would not be taken as seriously。 And maybe thats what this book has stood the test of time， as a widow into communism in the mid 19th century。 I defintly enjoyed the book。 But i took more pleasure in the images of pigs giving speeches and chickens confessing their crimes and horses building windmills than i did the politics of the piece。 I mean lets face it at the end of the day it doesnt matter what i write here it is still one of George Orwels most infamous books and i can say ive read it now。 。。。more

This book is still so relevant to today's world honestly。 The messages it has in it I think are something everyone needs to remind themselves of again in the world of today's politics。 You can draw so many modern parallels to a variety of topics which I found pretty interesting to say the least。 While a grim truthful ending I'm glad that I finally have read a classic that I find still holds meaning in this world today and probably will for decades to come。 （Yes I did read this in high school but This book is still so relevant to today's world honestly。 The messages it has in it I think are something everyone needs to remind themselves of again in the world of today's politics。 You can draw so many modern parallels to a variety of topics which I found pretty interesting to say the least。 While a grim truthful ending I'm glad that I finally have read a classic that I find still holds meaning in this world today and probably will for decades to come。 （Yes I did read this in high school but my puny 16yr old brain was not developed enough at all to appreciate this in a high school English class） 。。。more

I hated this book as a kid。Back in elementary school， I picked this book out of a list of 10 for my grade 7-8 required reading because of all the books being forced on us， it was the shortest。It still took me two full weeks to choke it down because I found it mind-numbingly boring， and I did poorly on the essay I was to fill out because I didn't really understand the concept of an allegory and I didn't view the book positively。 Plus， I was raised staunchly anti-politics - my parents are the type I hated this book as a kid。Back in elementary school， I picked this book out of a list of 10 for my grade 7-8 required reading because of all the books being forced on us， it was the shortest。It still took me two full weeks to choke it down because I found it mind-numbingly boring， and I did poorly on the essay I was to fill out because I didn't really understand the concept of an allegory and I didn't view the book positively。 Plus， I was raised staunchly anti-politics - my parents are the type to refuse to vote because they don't see any of our parties as better than one another。The reason I'm saying this now， is because as an adult nearly 20 years older than I was then who just plowed through this in the space of a couple hours， I can acknowledge how excellent this book is。 It's amazing what a little real-world context can do for a work， and it's terrifying to see how little we've learned from a century ago。It's not a happy tale - there is no hero。 It's a tragedy。 And sadly， it is all too representative of our real-world， and showing us patterns in human nature that seem doomed to repeat themselves。 It's a warning of what comes when a society gives too much power to a chosen few， and how that power corrupts when there are no checks and balances。 Side-note - I was able to draw some interesting parallels between this work and Kafka's Metamorphosis， which I panned。 Both are an allegory of cold， uncaring worlds， anthropomorphized into the struggles of a non-human character。 Orwell did a better job of clearly landing his point， in my humble opinion。It's a biting look at the fallibility of communism， and how quickly it can turn into totalitarianism。 All presented to us by a socialist， who neo-fascists of today would be quick to label as being the same as being a communist， because communism = bad and you don't want to identify with anything bad， do you？ Seriously - the irony is rich。Nearly a hundred years old and still relevant today， it's amazing how well Orwell captured many of today's struggles in his commentary about Stalin's regime a century ago （and I'm not just talking about present day Putin's similarities）。 We unfortunately see a lot of this in the west rearing its ugly head too。 We see the results of apathy， and a result of lacking education， as the animals accept whatever they're spoonfed from the populist 'great leader' who keeps revising history to suit himself。 And the very few that stand up against him are instantly put down。Does this sound like anyone in recent political memory， folks？ Are you paying attention？Honestly， I feel like instead of a bible-in-the-bedstand， everyone should have a dogeared copy of this sitting on their shelf， and be reading it once a year。 Even the kids who are in grade 7-8， when they're still in their formative years。 But instead of firing us at a wall and marking us poorly when we don't get it - Maybe this book should be taught。 Explained。 Made to make sense。Maybe if we did， we wouldn't have people gagging on the same sorts of lies and false-histories that these tyrants feed on full-auto， like the sheep bleating "Four Legs Good， Two Legs Bad"。Are you one of the sheep， regurgitating what you've been told？ Or are you apathetic， like Benjamin？ Or are you like Boxer， working himself to death to please a tyrant？Or worst of all - are you like Squealer， actively helping them win？And of course， that chilling line， right at the end。All Animals are Equal but Some are More Equal Than Others。Look around you。 Who is espousing that view。 Watch them。 Because someday， they're going to decide that they're more equal than you。 。。。more
