Summary

A trio of misbehaving, mango-loving monkeys have a close call as the creator of Don't Worry, Little Crab gives readers a taste of vicarious mischief。

Three little monkeys and their big monkey are sitting high on a branch in the forest canopy。 "OK, monkeys! I'm off," says the big monkey。 "Remember 。 。 。 Whatever you do, do NOT go down to the mango tree。 There are tigers down there。" Mmm 。 。 。 mangoes! think the little monkeys。 They LOVE mangoes。 Hmm 。 。 。 Maybe 。 。 。 maybe they could just look at the mangoes。 That would be OK, right? With vivid colors, bold shapes, and his trademark visual humor, Chris Haughton is back with a deliciously suspenseful cautionary tale about pushing boundaries--and indulging your more impish side (when nobody is looking)。

Monkeys want mangoes but there are tigers nearby

I really liked the art。 The moral is following rules and listening to your elders otherwise, there will be possible consequences。 I think it also insinuates that curiosity can be fun and exciting, but to err on the side of caution。

Drie kleine aapjes doen iets wat niet mag in hele klein stapjes。 Ze leren door te doen。

Suspenseful。 Kids will love this。 I did。 Themes: monkeys, tigers, following the rules

The illustrations are great, but I don't appreciate the negative behaviors that this story revolves around。 The monkeys disobey and deceive their mother, recklessly endanger themselves, and don't learn a lesson from it。 This would be worthwhile as a discussion-starter for a parent and child, but it's not something that I would use for storytime, since there are many better jungle-themed books that don't require an adult-added life lesson。 The illustrations are great, but I don't appreciate the negative behaviors that this story revolves around。 The monkeys disobey and deceive their mother, recklessly endanger themselves, and don't learn a lesson from it。 This would be worthwhile as a discussion-starter for a parent and child, but it's not something that I would use for storytime, since there are many better jungle-themed books that don't require an adult-added life lesson。 。。。more

Super cute! Little scamps getting into trouble。

Three little monkeys are warned away from mangoes, because tigers are everywhere。 So true。 After fleeing to safety and warned again, they begin to wonder about safely reaching the bananas。

Heather Lee

Amazing illustrations。 Naughty monkeys will help children think about consequences of actions。

Kirsty

another one that made me chuckle

Usually I live this authors work, but the combination of the monkeys involved in dangerous behavior they were told not to do, in combination with essentially not telling the truth ending makes the themes a miss when the monkeys face no consequences

Maybe。。。 is the story of three monkeys who don't want to listen! They listen to their bellies instead of their grown-up and nearly get eaten by tigers。 This book has vivid illustrations yet does a good job of hiding the tigers by the mango tree until it's almost too late。 The monkeys are cute without being too anthropomorphic (which can be problematic for many reasons), and the lesson definitely needs to be talked about at the end because those silly monkeys don't learn a thing。 A cautionary tal Maybe。。。 is the story of three monkeys who don't want to listen! This earned my, 5 Star Huggable award。 It’s sheer brilliance! I hugged it with glee after I read it。 “Maybe we could just look,” is the question/suggestion posed by one of the three young Monkeys warned to stay well above the mango tree because there are tigers down there。 And well, what’s a monkey to do when they know delicious mangoes are just hanging there。 A look would be okay, wouldn’t it? And down they go!This book grabs you from that first, whatever you do, DON’T! You know beyond any shad This earned my, 5 Star Huggable award。 It’s sheer brilliance! You know beyond any shadow of doubt they are going down to those mangoes。 And so they do。 After checking for tigers, there aren’t any, the monkeys, LOOK! And there are mangoes, so many, just within reach! And the, Maybe question/suggestion pops up again。 Check again for tigers! Nope, no tigers。 Mmmmm, so sweet, so juicy, I wish I had another。 And so, down, down, no tigers, down all the way to the ground … TIGERS!!!The brilliance of childlike thinking and reasoning is what makes this book a winner in my opinion。 Chris Haughton absolutely nails it。 The bright red backgrounds beautifully portray the danger these innocents are surrounded by。 The monkeys are painted in deep blues and teals with wide eyed innocent expressions。 Gorgeous work! 。。。more

Vivid artwork and a manic mien dress up a cautionary tale about doing what your mother tells you。

The Chris Haughton brand is well established and well loved: bright blocks of colour and funny, tricky situations。 Here the monkeys risk attack from the tigers to get at mangoes, only to be forced to seek refuge in a tree。 So, no mangoes… but other temptations beckon…And I laughed out in the bookshop。

Some naughty monkeys ignore their mom's warning to not go to the mango tree and get chased by tigers! Their dialogue is silly and the running away from the tigers segment has potential to be fun and active in a storytime setting。 I don't know if it's a great message that they are clearly ignoring their mom and have plans at the end to do it again--so even though it's funny it might not reinforce the best message? A fun, unique, bright illustration style, though。 Some naughty monkeys ignore their mom's warning to not go to the mango tree and get chased by tigers! Diggar Chris Haughtons barnböcker。 Enkla och magnifika i både text och bild。 Kan läsas om och om igen och det funkar mycket bra att högläsa med lite mystisk röst för att höja spänningen。

Red equals danger in this amusing story of three little monkeys tempting fate against the warnings of the bigger monkey。 Look beyond the glaring red background at the expressive eyes of each monkey as they consider maybe。。。 going after the delicious fruit or search out the patient tigers hiding behind bushes。 Chris Haughton's use of red definitely sets the story's mood and captivating illustrations convey his story clearly。 What at first glance appears to be a simple preschool picture book, beco Red equals danger in this amusing story of three little monkeys tempting fate against the warnings of the bigger monkey。 Look beyond the glaring red background at the expressive eyes of each monkey as they consider maybe。。。 going after the delicious fruit or search out the patient tigers hiding behind bushes。 Chris Haughton's use of red definitely sets the story's mood and captivating illustrations convey his story clearly。 What at first glance appears to be a simple preschool picture book, becomes a humorous and engaging story for a variety of ages。 It is worth the time to check out Chris Haughton's website and read his unique background story。Ages 4-7 。。。more
