Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - OVER ONE MILLION COPIES SOLD! A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous breakup--in development as an original streaming series executive produced by Reese Witherspoon。

Everyone knows DAISY JONES & THE SIX, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity 。 。 。 until now。

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L。A。 in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go。 The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it's the rock 'n' roll she loves most。 By the time she's twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things。

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne。 On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she's pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road。

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together。 What happens next will become the stuff of legend。

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies。 Novelist Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice。

Did I like this book? I honestly don't know。 I don't believe I enjoyed it no。 What I do know is I despised Daisy。 For some reason, I have a really hard time liking or even being able to tolerate Reid's MCs。 One could argue that's the point, maybe you aren't supposed to like them。 But it's to a point for me that it brings down the whole story。 I cannot get over how much I do not like the main characters。 Same thing happening with Evelyn Hugo。 I understand that they are meant to be imperfect chara Did I like this book? Great story! Felt like I was watching a documentary and enjoyed all the different perspectives on how things went down and how truthful it is that no one’s version is the same as anyone else’s。 Reminded me of Valley of the Dolls with the drugs being so prevalent but where there was no happy ending for the Dolls there was a much better story with this group and working through the demons and highs (figuratively and literally) and lows of life, love and finding your way and building some sort of l Great story! Everything about this felt real because TJR’s writing is so real。 Bittersweet and nostalgic and fun and messy and painful。

This book was a super easy read。 It was super interesting and every detail that the author incorporated felt important somehow and nothing really felt mundane。

I heard so many wonderful reviews of this book and found myself kinda disappointed by it。 I thought the writing style was an interesting take narrating it in oral interviews transcribed。 I thought the mini twist in who the interviewer was was really cool but overall watching the rise and fall of a band and people needing help with drugs is ehh。 I can go watch a Netflix show about the same thing that’s more interesting。 I found myself getting really annoyed by the characters。 Reid’s other works a I heard so many wonderful reviews of this book and found myself kinda disappointed by it。 I thought the writing style was an interesting take narrating it in oral interviews transcribed。 I thought the mini twist in who the interviewer was was really cool but overall watching the rise and fall of a band and people needing help with drugs is ehh。 I can go watch a Netflix show about the same thing that’s more interesting。 I found myself getting really annoyed by the characters。 Reid’s other works are better than this。 Hopefully the show is better than the book (and that’s the first time I think I’ve ever actually said that) will I read it again sometime? Yes。 But would I choose to reread something else first? Yes! 。。。more

I loved the story and the idea。 I'm a huge fan of the 70s and enjoyed being emersed into that decade。 But the flow and the way the story is presented made it really hard for me to pay attention。I am very excited to see what the tv series will be like though! And just like everyone’s else I loved this book!! I flew through it and kept turning page after page and I’m ready for the series。 I just didn’t love how it was revealed who the author was that kinda felt like a sucker punch and no substance to it。

Interesting flow as if from an interview! Like the ending, it wasn’t predictable and didn’t leave me feeling unsettled。 Felt like a quick enjoyable read a glass of wine or two went perfect with。 Touches on drug use and sex (you know, rock n roll things) as a heads up if you’re sensitive to that!

Not many books surprise me, but this book was one of them。 Set in the late 60s to early 70s this book is about the typical growth in stardom of a band and what happened as to why they disbanded。 Riddled with many of the usual challenges bands had in the 70s: sex, drugs and rock and roll。 This band had a surprise ending that I would not have guessed。 So, I really liked it。“Men often think they deserve a sticker for treating women like people。”― Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six“I wish so Not many books surprise me, but this book was one of them。 Set in the late 60s to early 70s this book is about the typical growth in stardom of a band and what happened as to why they disbanded。 Riddled with many of the usual challenges bands had in the 70s: sex, drugs and rock and roll。 This band had a surprise ending that I would not have guessed。 So, I really liked it。“Men often think they deserve a sticker for treating women like people。”― Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six“I wish someone had told me that love isn’t torture。 Because I thought love was this thing that was supposed to tear you in two and leave you heartbroken and make your heart race in the worst way。 I thought love was bombs and tears and blood。 I did not know that it was supposed to make you lighter, not heavier。 I didn’t know it was supposed to take only the kind of work that makes you softer。 I thought love was war。 I didn’t know it was supposed to… I didn’t know it was supposed to be peace。”― Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six 。。。more
