Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Brown Sisters trilogy, comes a laugh-out-loud YA novel about a quirky content creator and a clean-cut athlete testing their abilities to survive the great outdoors - and each other。

Could you brave the wilderness with your HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS and UNFAIRLY CUTE ex-best friend?

BRADLEY GRAEME is pretty much perfect: he's a star football player, manages his OCD well (enough) and comes out on top in all his classes 。 。 。 except the ones he shares with CELINE BANGURA。

They used to be best friends, until Brad decided he was too cool for conspiracy-theory-obsessed Celine and abandoned her for the popular kids' table。 (At least, that's how Celine sees it。) These days, there's nothing between them but insults and academic rivalry。

So when Celine signs up for a two-part survival course in the woods, the last thing she expects is to find Brad right beside her。

Forced to work as a team for the chance to win the grand prize, Celine and Bradley must trudge through not just mud and dirt but their messy past。 As this adventure brings them closer together, they start to remember all the good parts of their history。 But has too much time passed 。 。 。 or just enough to spark a whole new kind of relationship?

superrr cute!! I loved celine and brad’s banter, they were soooo cutethe camping elements were so fun too!!I lowkey wish there was more at the end but it’s okay

Didn’t love it didn’t hate it。 It had its really cute moments。 I’m just not a romance person but overall it wasn’t bad

I love casual representation in books。 Brad has OCD, but the conflict in the story is not OCD, and I thought that was really nice and less painful to read。

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert was a perfect YA romance--earnest but a little sarcastic, sweet but skeptical, & heartfelt with laugh-out-loud moments liberally added。 Hibbert has such a deft touch at handling serious issues (OCD, father abandonment) with an innate kindness。

3。5 stars, cute romance, love Talia Hibbert。 I really enjoyed that these characters actually read like fellow Gen Z kids and not like millennials writing Gen Zers。

Madeline

Super cute! Everything you could want in a YA romance。

I finished it but only because I felt like I had to。 After Act your age, I was itching for another of her books but this one fell short

Brianna

This was so cute and made my heart so happy。 It was a fluffy read but still handled a number of difficult topics with ease。I definitely thought that the survival course was going to be more prominent in the story, so I was a bit taken aback by the pacing。

3。25 ⭐️ i think i lose interest as soon as enemies become friends which was like 50% into the book so it’s safe to say that i enjoyed the first half of the book a little too much that i got bored when they became friends but that sounds like a me-problem(?)。 the writing was solid and the banter was fire though。

2。5 stars rounded up。 This is the first contemporary romance I've read, so maybe it's just that the genre isn't for me, but I didn't really care for this book。 I didn't like the pop culture references or the quirky sarcastic dialogue。 I found it hard to care about the characters- it felt like they were lacking any real personality。 I thought the book should have ended about halfway through。 The final conflict dragged on for too long and seemed to be there for the sole purpose of upping the page 2。5 stars rounded up。 This is the first contemporary romance I've read, so maybe it's just that the genre isn't for me, but I didn't really care for this book。 I didn't like the pop culture references or the quirky sarcastic dialogue。 I found it hard to care about the characters- it felt like they were lacking any real personality。 I thought the book should have ended about halfway through。 The final conflict dragged on for too long and seemed to be there for the sole purpose of upping the page count。 It definitely had its moments, but the bad pretty heavily outweighed the good, in my opinion。 。。。more

So cute! Celine was so avoidant and was a bit frustrating but what teenager isn't? Brian was so well written as well。 All topics were handled graciously。 So cute! An absolutely and overwhelmingly precious love story that had me laughing constantly。 Celine and Brad are ex-best friends that now acknowledge each other as their arch nemeses, and years of avoiding one another has been brought to an end when they’re forced to rely on each other during a special nature program。 They’re ridiculous。 They’re adorable。 They’ve never stopped caring about one another。 Talia Hibbert’s dive into YA still maintains those warm and fuzzy feelings in a genuine romance with An absolutely and overwhelmingly precious love story that had me laughing constantly。 Celine and Brad are ex-best friends that now acknowledge each other as their arch nemeses, and years of avoiding one another has been brought to an end when they’re forced to rely on each other during a special nature program。 They’re ridiculous。 They’re adorable。 They’ve never stopped caring about one another。 Talia Hibbert’s dive into YA still maintains those warm and fuzzy feelings in a genuine romance with perfect banter to support it。 I also highly, HIGHLY recommend the audiobook version of this story。 The voice actors are fantastic。 CW: parental abandonment/absentee parent, depiction (and descriptions of) OCD, brief discussions of racism, panic attacks 。。。more

⭐️=4。75 | 😘=2。75 | 🤬=3。5 | 15+ the way that Talia Hibbert made the smoothest transition from adult romance to YA?? incredible!! this was so so so cute and funny and absolutely charming。 grumpy girl/sunshine boy is the superior trope。 highly recommend。

3 1/2 Stars! This was cute and quirky。 With some good life lesson-ish themes and good neuro-divergent representation。 But I think the young adult/ high school genre was not what I was in the mood for。 But that's just me。 3+ stars based in mood not the author's skill or the story。 3 1/2 Stars! This was cute and quirky。 With some good life lesson-ish themes and good neuro-divergent representation。 But I think the young adult/ high school genre was not what I was in the mood for。 But that's just me。 3+ stars based in mood not the author's skill or the story。 。。。more

So freakin’ cute! Talia Hibbert does a great job writing characters who are easy to root for despite, or even because of, their idiosyncrasies and Brad and Celine were absolutely charming。 A lot of the side characters did get a little lost in the shuffle just because there were so many to keep track of, but overall I would definitely call Talia Hibbert’s first foray into YA a success!

bailey

Unfairly Cute is an accurate descriptor!!!

4。5/5This debut YA has all the fabulous banter and warmth of their adult romances, and coupled with all the anxiety and tumultuousness of teenage life, it makes for a winning combo。 I loved Brad and Celine as characters — two brilliant but very stubborn kids who are willing to look everywhere except directly in the mirror to confront their undeniable feelings and just be happy, but mushy and adorable all the same。 Their voices felt so distinct, and Hibbert imbued them both with such realistic pe 4。5/5This debut YA has all the fabulous banter and warmth of their adult romances, and coupled with all the anxiety and tumultuousness of teenage life, it makes for a winning combo。 I loved Brad and Celine as characters — two brilliant but very stubborn kids who are willing to look everywhere except directly in the mirror to confront their undeniable feelings and just be happy, but mushy and adorable all the same。 Their voices felt so distinct, and Hibbert imbued them both with such realistic personalities that complemented one another beautifully。 Nice to see Hibbert addressing OCD and intrusive thoughts on the page, and making clear that while it is possible to live with and manage the disorder, it is always a part of what you do and how you interact with the world。 I think my only real qualm with this is that I wished the larger story around Brad and Celine felt stronger。 I went in expecting this to be more firmly about the leadership experience/camp, and those scenes are where I felt story was at its strongest。 And while the school/home scenes were also great, I’m not sure they made the most of the characters and supporting cast。 The stakes of everyone’s investment in the expedition and what it meant didn’t always come through as clearly as they could have。 This could also have used a sweet little flash forward or epilogue at the end showing the two of them going off to college, which would have made my life! (I know this really is a romance hallmark, but I really feel it would fit here as well!) Readers who already love Hibbert’s style and character development while very likely enjoy this。 I hope they keep writing for this age group because there is so much potential! 。。。more

Such a sweet, funny enjoyable read。 Both Celien and Brad were fleshed out and relatable and their shift from “enemies” to friends again and more was adorable and funny。 Love Talia’s writing style and how she gave them both distinct voices, made them emotionally aware but also very much teenagers still trying ti figure themselves out。 4 ⭐️。
