SPOILERS (ISH) AHEADthis book was amazing。 there were plot twists literally everywhere- the one at the beginning I think was exceptional because it turned the story from a cute road trip with friends, suddenly into a very intense scenario where lives could be (and were, later on) lost。 and then when I was reading I was thinking about who could have the secret, I was constantly left guessing and when secrets did come out I was really surprised- I definitely couldn't predict the plot of this story SPOILERS (ISH) AHEADthis book was amazing。 there were plot twists literally everywhere- the one at the beginning I think was exceptional because it turned the story from a cute road trip with friends, suddenly into a very intense scenario where lives could be (and were, later on) lost。 and then when I was reading I was thinking about who could have the secret, I was constantly left guessing and when secrets did come out I was really surprised- I definitely couldn't predict the plot of this story which I love, since I am usually quite good at predicting plots。 Especially with red being the witness, then nit being the witness and how all the secrets came spiralling out from there- it was incredibly done。 my jaw dropped multiple times and a few tears definitely came out。 an incredible mystery- so fast paced and well done。 5/5 stars。 。。。more

I’ll read anything by Holly Jackson because I loved A Good Girls Guide to Murder。 This one was mid for me。 I didn’t really feel connected to any of the characters including the main character and my attention faded。Of course, enjoyed the twists near the end but it felt like a long time to invest until something happened。

The main character? She was the WORST。 I tried really hard to like her but i just couldn’t not even with her sob story that repeated itself over and over and over again。 Like her mom died we get it。 A character could literally drink a cup of water and she would be like ,,My mom used to do that too!”。 I would understand if her mother was shot yesterday but damn its been years…Also it made me mad that we didn’t get an explanation for so many things? Why was Red so weird and forgetful? She didn’t know where she was half the time i thought she had some type of brain injury? Also i was really hoping that that pattern in the curtains will be important somehow because she kept mentioning it every chance she got but then it was never mention again like huh? And one last thing that i noticed(there was probably more things left unexplained but i can’t remember them right now)is that we dont even know who was the second YES? I thought that will be a MAJOR plot twist(I was hoping it will be Maddy and that there would be something more to her character but at the end she was just a bland best friend character whose only purpose in the book was revealing that thing at the end…)And one last thing, i didnt like the open ending in As Good as Dead and i dont like it here but i guess thats a personal preference… 。。。more

We’ve hit our first review of the year! This was one I picked up as I was Christmas shopping— I know, I know, shocking that I bought a book for myself while book shopping for others… and I was so excited to get into it, knowing how much I loved the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder trilogy! This was such a fun thriller, with an interesting premise。 I will say right off the bat that it does not rise to the top my favourites of Jackson’s books, but I did enjoy it。 I didn’t love that our main character We’ve hit our first review of the year! I definitely would not have come up with a premise like this, and I thought that there were some good twists and turns。 For a stand alone book with such little movement in setting, it packed a punch! Definitely a fun book to start off my reads this year! 。。。more

Holey。moley guacamole。 Love love love the book。 The premise is solid and the characters just enough to be interesting without being confusing。 The pace does not let up! We are working on a plan to get the kids out of the RV right along with them。 And the ending is as brilliant as it is not transparent。 I wouldn't mind a sequel or hell a trilogy。 I did think some of the characterisation was 2D and the fact that not a single person stood up to the main villain a bit of an anomaly。 Especially since Holey。moley guacamole。 Love love love the book。 The premise is solid and the characters just enough to be interesting without being confusing。 The pace does not let up! 2。5 stars, rounded down I didn’t enjoy this anywhere near as much as A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, unfortunately。 The pacing was fairly slow, and it was more Lord of the Flies than a thriller, with the 6 friends constantly at odds with each other。 Also — the ending…what was that? Too open for my liking。

actual rating: 3。5/5 starsi loved the end and the twists within this book and holly jackson always has great writing but i just don't think this is necessarily my type of thriller。 i still appreciated the ride but it wasn't a fav like her other series。 actual rating: 3。5/5 starsi loved the end and the twists within this book and holly jackson always has great writing but i just don't think this is necessarily my type of thriller。 i still appreciated the ride but it wasn't a fav like her other series。 。。。more

I wanted to love this, I really did but this book just fell short。 I found the dialogue very exaggerated and unrealistic。 It was decent enough to finish and in the beginning I really liked it but it just got worse near the end。

This book was good but very fast paced。 I took a star off because of it being fast pace and could somewhat predict what would happen。 I didn’t like certain characters but the ending was wow。

First 5 star book of the year! 🥳 I am a big Holly Jackson fan, one of my top favs when it comes to YA authors。 If you are a fan of the Good Girls Guide to Murder trilogy, you need to for sure add this one to your list! The plot is basic, 6 people trapped in an RV overnight with no cell service and no way to escape。 As the hours go by, the desperation heightens and their trust in each other vanishes。 I read through this one super fast and was pulled in the entire ride。 Way to go HJ for writing a First 5 star book of the year! 🥳 I am a big Holly Jackson fan, one of my top favs when it comes to YA authors。 If you are a fan of the Good Girls Guide to Murder trilogy, you need to for sure add this one to your list! Making us trust Aurthur like that? Oh Holly Jackson, you genius。 Showing how Oliver went from being the level headed leader to a desperate, nothing to lose, ready to risk it all time bomb。 📚 The Middle - I was hooked by the middle of the book。 Nothing could make me put it down。 I did kind of figure out by page 236 who the main culprit was - only because I had skipped to the end to see the famous page with the checked boxes。 So when a certain someone wrote checked boxes on their hand。 It was a give away。 Don’t check the last pages guys。 📚 The End - I cried, and cried… possibly cried some more。 What an ending。 I was hoping for a happier ending for Red。 Just because… what a life to live at the tender age of 17。 Having to care for your alcoholic father because your mother passed away。 Not only did her mother die in one of the worst ways possible *Extreme Spoiler* it was by the hands of her best friends mother。 The person, the reason, the whole point of why they’re in the position they are in。 I love how the author described the feeling of being shot, what Red what thinking, feeling, how she was in her last moments。 Of course, it wasn’t really her last moments。 One thing I didn’t like was Arthur killing Catherine。 I felt like that was just thrown in there。 Why would Arthur do it himself, risking himself, doing something he vowed he would never do when he could have - at least, had someone else do it。 👫 The Characters- The main characters that stood out to me were Arthur, Red and Oliver。 Red’s character was a little annoying for me personally。 If you have something important to say that can save lives, especially in this scenario… just say it。 Red is always over criticising herself which in reality, may be accurate。 However, i feel like there’s a time and a place and honestly when someone has a sniper and is shooting at you。 I believe anyone would speak up。 At this point I had to remind myself that they’re 17。 Arthur was so tender and patient with Red - which in hindsight makes sense now。 I truly do believe there could be some sort of love/romance with him and Red。 Whenever she recovers。 Now Oliver。 There’s not much for me to say except I absolutely couldn’t stand him throughout。 From beginning to the end。 If I’m going to be completely honest, I’m a little worried that his death almost felt… satisfying to me。 Like they finally managed to shut him up。 That being said, I do believe the book needed Oliver。 It just wouldn’t be the same without him。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - My overall review of this book is that it hooked me and has me wanting more。 I don’t think it gets any better than that。 I literally couldn’t put the book down。 。。。more
