Fun little book。 Listened to the audio with my kids, and they thoroughly enjoyed it。

What a fun book to end my reading journey this year。 I’ve read all the 1920s and 1930s Newbery winners and several honor books from these two decades。 This is the first book from this era that really seems like a children’s book that is not a picture book。 It is certainly better than the winner of that year。 Just a fun silly story to captivate the imagination of children。 No wonder it has had staying power and is a classic。 I read the hard copy a long time ago and really enjoyed the audio this t What a fun book to end my reading journey this year。 I’ve read all the 1920s and 1930s Newbery winners and several honor books from these two decades。 This is the first book from this era that really seems like a children’s book that is not a picture book。 It is certainly better than the winner of that year。 Just a fun silly story to captivate the imagination of children。 No wonder it has had staying power and is a classic。 I read the hard copy a long time ago and really enjoyed the audio this time。 It has music and audio effects。 Highly recommend。 。。。more

Picked this one because I had the faintest memory of the movie adaptation and thought it would be a good quick read for the day。 I thought the story was cute and enjoyed the little penguin sound effects they added to the audiobook。

an small compact airport read。 still a classic。 still adorable。

My family listened to an audiobook of this and my five-, seven-, and eleven-year-old all enjoyed it (and my five-year-old almost always complains about any audiobook we read)。 It was my first time reading the book and I enjoyed it as well, although it certainly is not a favorite。 It was perhaps a bit too goofy for me, but I understand why children love it and why it’s a classic。

Read this one to my kids。 They enjoyed it!

I must have checked this out of the library over a dozen times。

Listened with Madi on audio at bedtime。 She loved this story - and it was endearing to me as well。 Somehow I missed reading this one as a child。 A peaceful sweet read for sure。

Such a sweet book to read with my boys。 They loved hearing all about the wild penguins。 They did think the ending was surprising。

My 8 yr old boy and 7 yr old girl have been reading this repeatedly for the past month。 I had recommended it to them because I remembered enjoying it as a kid。 Of course, I couldn't remember anything from the story, so I had to re-read and I'm so glad I did! Such a fun story。 I feel like as a kid, everything about the penguins is hilarious, but from an adult's perspective the real humor is in reading Mr。 and Mrs。 Popper's dialogue。 I didn't know until recently that this book was started by Richa My 8 yr old boy and 7 yr old girl have been reading this repeatedly for the past month。 I had recommended it to them because I remembered enjoying it as a kid。 Of course, I couldn't remember anything from the story, so I had to re-read and I'm so glad I did! Loved itI read it to my granddaughters and they loved it。 It was so different than the movie。 And old-fashioned, when the Mom stayed home, but so cute。

bro is such a menace to society。 how is he allowed to DO anything。 how is he allowed to have a family。 how is he allowed to have a dozen penguins in a town where nobody has ever heard of penguins the absurdity of it all is just as amusing as it is frustrating

I liked it, the financial instability of mr popper bothered me, and I was dissapointed that it took him so long to do something about it。 I was also sad for him to leave his family for years at the end。 I did think it was sweet and laughed a couple of times。

Olivia

Excellent Book :)

Allyson

Solid kids book。 Just don’t think to hard about it as an adult 🤣

Megan May

Silly & cute。 My kids really liked it。

Kinda funny and extremely unrealistic。 It didn't earn a place on my bookshelf。 Anyone want the book? I'll send it to you。 :) Kinda funny and extremely unrealistic。 It didn't earn a place on my bookshelf。 Anyone want the book? I'll send it to you。 :) 。。。more

This was quaint and adorable。 I haven't seen the movie。 The audiobook was pretty delightful。 I'm not sure I agree that shipping 12 penguins to the north pole to "colonize" it was in the best interest of the penguins。。。 and the Popper marriage is something else。 And of course, it's very silly and exaggerated, but delightfully adorable。 This was quaint and adorable。 I haven't seen the movie。 The audiobook was pretty delightful。 I'm not sure I agree that shipping 12 penguins to the north pole to "colonize" it was in the best interest of the penguins。。。 and the Popper marriage is something else。 And of course, it's very silly and exaggerated, but delightfully adorable。 。。。more

Read to the girls。 They liked it。 A lot of older cultural things I don't think they understood but they got the gist of it。 Read to the girls。 They liked it。 A lot of older cultural things I don't think they understood but they got the gist of it。 。。。more

A childhood classic that I somehow missed in my childhood。 While clearly dated, I found the overall story sweet and entertaining。
