Summary

This heartrending debut novel weaves a beautiful love story with an homage to the redemptive power of female friendship。Elsie and Ben are average twenty-somethings, but this is not your average love story。 It begins bright and promising: the newlywed couple is head over heels in love, having eloped six months after they met。 But it all shatters in an instant; Ben out riding his bike, is hit by a truck—and dies on impact。

Elsie hears the sirens outside her apartment, but by the time she gets downstairs, his body has already been taken to the hospital。 When she arrives, Elsie is greeted by an unexpected visitor—her mother-in-law, Susan, whom she has never met and who doesn’t even know she exists。

Both are seared with grief; Susan is still mourning the death of her own husband several years earlier, and the loss of her only son is almost too much to bear。 The two women immediately sour on one another, fighting over what to do with Ben’s belongings and how to fulfill his wishes。 But as time goes by, Susan and Elsie both realize that despite the terrible accident that brought them together, they are now the only family they have left。

Interweaving Elsie and Ben’s charmed romance with Elsie and Susan’s healing process, Forever, Interrupted will make you laugh, make you cry, and remind you that there’s more than one way to live happily ever after。

I cannot stop reading TJR books。 This might not have been one of my favorites, but still managed to make me feel all the emotions。A rather sad story of a short marriage that had many implications for a long time after。 Definitely a worthy read, even though a sad one。

4。5* I think the fact I sat and read this in a day speaks for itself, phenomenal

4/5!!! this book is so good and heartbreaking。 It is not a regular romance。 It’s about grief and healing and it’s so heart touching。 What she went through is literally one of the things i’m most scared of, it’s something so hard to heal from and TJR described so good。 Loved it!

First book of 2023 and I can’t think of a better one to start off with。 It’s made me cry more than anything I’ve ever read and just further reinforces that tjr is my favorite author of all time!!

“No matter how strong you are, no matter how smart you are or tough you can be, the world will find a way to break you。 And when it does, the only thing you can do is hold on。”A great read for starting a new year。

Meh。 Didn't love it。 I didn't particularly like any of the characters, except for sweet old Mr Callahan。 Later TJR books are SO much better。 Meh。 Didn't love it。 I didn't particularly like any of the characters, except for sweet old Mr Callahan。 Later TJR books are SO much better。 。。。more

This was beautiful。 The lessons learned about love and friendship and pain were so well intertwined。 I felt ever single feeling of both Elsie and Susan。 Their relationship truly brought me healing and gave me so much hope。

TJR knows exactly what to write to pull on your heartstrings。 Her writing is just so real and brings out emotions effortlessly。 She aced that again with this book。 I think there was a good lesson to be learned with this story。This is not a fave by her, but still very good and would recommend。 3。5⭐️

My thoughts: I'm not much of a romance novel fan, but this beautifully written story was captivating and moving。 It was an easy read that I finished in one day。 The story is told in alternating chapters of the present time(death, grief, friendship, family, and possibilities of having a second chance) and the past (meeting, falling in love, and getting married)。 This was a great story to kick off my new year read with。 I loved it from beginning to end。 It made me stop, think and remember no one i My thoughts: I'm not much of a romance novel fan, but this beautifully written story was captivating and moving。 It was an easy read that I finished in one day。 The story is told in alternating chapters of the present time(death, grief, friendship, family, and possibilities of having a second chance) and the past (meeting, falling in love, and getting married)。 This was a great story to kick off my new year read with。 I loved it from beginning to end。 It made me stop, think and remember no one is promised tomorrow, so be thankful for every day you have with the ones you love。 Highly recommend。 。。。more

I typically love TJR, but this book dragged on。 So draining to read。 I recommend skipping if it’s on your TBR!

At first, I thought this was a really depressing book, but I liked how the story progressed as I read it。 My favorite parts involved YA books and the relationships with the many n character and the two older characters in the book。

The first book that made me cry in a long time! At certain points the book was a little repetitive but this is a beautifully written first novel and I look forward to reading more from Taylor Jenkins Reid。

Taylor Jenkins Reid does it again! I really enjoyed her writing style of this book。 It was very different from her newer reads but amazing nonetheless。 She has the ability to make me wanna cry and laugh all in one sentence which I think is a true talent。 Highly recommend but it may be a trigger if you have recently lost someone you love。

Taylor's first published book(I think)。 Was interesting to read after I read "One True Loves" though I wished I read them in the order she wrote。 Lots of similarities but you can see how she develops the characters more in "One True Loves"。 Main character Elsie, loses her husband of 9 days in a bicycle crash。 She is not close with her parents。 Her husband's mother is still greiving his father's death but he never told the mom about Elsie。 Good light engaging read。 Taylor's first published book(I think)。 Was interesting to read after I read "One True Loves" though I wished I read them in the order she wrote。 Lots of similarities but you can see how she develops the characters more in "One True Loves"。 Main character Elsie, loses her husband of 9 days in a bicycle crash。 She is not close with her parents。 Her husband's mother is still greiving his father's death but he never told the mom about Elsie。 Good light engaging read。 。。。more

The book starts off as a tear jerker。 The overall story is great and very well written and put together。 At times it is hard to like Elsie but you can also understand what TJR is doing with the character。

so heart wrenching and it made me sob at the end。 can’t believe this is TJR’s first book and I cannot wait to read more by her! gave it 4。5 because I can only imagine her writing is even more incredible in her other books。

I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it。 I kept waiting for something big to happen and it never did。 I didn’t really like any of the main characters all that much and I kept thinking “what is the point of this” throughout a lot of the book。 I feel like an asshole for being so heartless given the main premise of the book, but I just found it hard to care about Elsie, Ben, and Susan, so it never really felt sad and emotional for me。 I absolutely love TJR, so I had high expectations。 For a TJR book, I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it。 I kept waiting for something big to happen and it never did。 I didn’t really like any of the main characters all that much and I kept thinking “what is the point of this” throughout a lot of the book。 I feel like an asshole for being so heartless given the main premise of the book, but I just found it hard to care about Elsie, Ben, and Susan, so it never really felt sad and emotional for me。 I absolutely love TJR, so I had high expectations。 For a TJR book, it was disappointing。 。。。more
