Summary

A glorious empire。 A desperate quest。 An ancient secret。

The search for allies extends to a new land in the sixth book of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J。 Maas。

Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq have arrived in the shining city of Antica to forge an alliance with the Khagan of the Southern Continent, whose vast armies are Erilea's last hope。 But they have also come to Antica for another purpose: to seek healing at the famed Torre Cesme for the wounds Chaol received in Rifthold。

After enduring unspeakable horrors as a child at the hands of Adarlanian soldiers, Yrene Towers has no desire to help the young lord from Adarlan, let alone heal him。 Yet she has sworn an oath to assist those in need, and she will honor it。 But Lord Westfall carries his own dark past, and Yrene soon realizes that those shadows could engulf them both。

Chaol, Nesryn, and Yrene will have to draw on every scrap of their resilience to overcome the danger that surrounds them。 But while they become entangled in the political webs of the khaganate, long-awaited answers slumber deep in the mountains, where warriors soar on legendary ruks。 Answers that might offer their world a chance at survival 。 。 。 or doom them all。

The final battle looms in this sixth book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series。

This was a book that I assumed going into would be a 3, grudgingly realized a few chapters in was likely a 4, and halfway through was already wishing it would never end。 The fantasy is stunning, building on a lot of the amazing world and plot building from the previous books in the series, but the romantic relationships really swept me away in this book, which was so wonderfully unexpected。 If you like fantasy and romance, or just want a really entertaining and well-written series to sink your t This was a book that I assumed going into would be a 3, grudgingly realized a few chapters in was likely a 4, and halfway through was already wishing it would never end。 The fantasy is stunning, building on a lot of the amazing world and plot building from the previous books in the series, but the romantic relationships really swept me away in this book, which was so wonderfully unexpected。 If you like fantasy and romance, or just want a really entertaining and well-written series to sink your teeth into, go start with Throne of Glass。~ This review is free of spoilers but does assume you have read the previous books in the series ~When I found out that this book was entirely about Chaol, I have to admit I considered skipping it。 Only my extreme love of Sarah J Maas and my need to know all of the amazing plot developments kept me from doing so, but when I also realized this book took place simultaneously with Empire of Storms, even though EoS came out first and should technically be read first, I doubted my ability to go through the timeline with my girl Aelin and then backtrack to Chaol’s POV, so my book club friends and I decided to give ourselves the best shot of getting through this book and read it first。What an unnecessary precaution。 This book was so worth it, that I can’t imagine ever having considered skipping it。 SJM once again wrote the most beautiful and realistic romantic relationships that will stick with me for a long time, and that I’m actually a little sad to be leaving on hold to go back to the other set of characters I thought I preferred 😅 The plot progressed in a very satisfying way, and seeing the new culture and creatures of the Southern Continent was so cool。 I will actually be a bit sad to leave these characters behind and head back to Adarlan (but only just a little 😉) and look forward to catching back up with these characters in Kingdom of Ash 🥰 。。。more

“You would be surprised by how closely the healing of physical wounds is tied to the healing of emotional ones。”Before starting ‘Tower Of Dawn’ I was aware of the fact that it differed slightly from the previous books in the series, primarily following Chaol and Nesryn on their journey across the sea and following a timeline that ran parallel to the last addition of the series。 I can understand why this would frustrate some readers – at least when these books were first released and they had to “You would be surprised by how closely the healing of physical wounds is tied to the healing of emotional ones。”Before starting ‘Tower Of Dawn’ I was aware of the fact that it differed slightly from the previous books in the series, primarily following Chaol and Nesryn on their journey across the sea and following a timeline that ran parallel to the last addition of the series。 I can understand why this would frustrate some readers – at least when these books were first released and they had to wait an extra year to find out exactly what would happen with Aelin – yet I was actually pretty excited to dive into this book。 Exploring more of this glorious world? Obviously I was intrigued。。。plus I had hopes that a character I adored from ‘The Assassin’s Blade’ would make a reappearance。Although this book misses the majority of its previous major points of view, including its main one, to me it definitely felt like another instalment and not a companion。 It didn’t feel like a detour in any way。 It read the same; it kept me just as engaged and addicted to the text。 Plus it contained some truly monumental developments that caught me utterly off guard。 It’s a must read for fans of the series and one hell of an addictive thrill ride。As this book explores a whole other stretch of land – with its own ruling system and beliefs – there are a lot of new characters introduced。 The major ones, the Khagan and his family, fascinated me immensely。 I loved getting to learn about each and every one of them, as well as exploring the landscape, discovering some of its history and travelling some rather unexpected roads。 The familiar face I was hoping for featured heavily – much to my delight – as well as another familiar figure that I wasn’t expecting。 It truly staggers me to think upon just how much planning must have went into this series, looking back over all the little links from earlier on。At times in the previous books I will admit that Chaol’s attitude towards those he’s cared for has irritated me but I truly did adore this book。 So if you’ve ever felt similarly don’t let that put you off。 This book is certainly a must read。 There are so many new characters to meet, so much information to uncover, so many twists and turns to revel in。 The romance involved melted my heart。 The exploration of this new land fascinated me。 And I adored every moment of this reading experience。 So yes it goes without saying that I recommend this book and majorly cannot wait to dive into the finale of this series。 。。。more

The tandem read was brutal but worth it 😉🫶🏼

Started slowly, but picked up at about 1/4 of the way through。 Thunders along from there。 Loved it。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I liked the plot, but the fact that Chaol isn’t completely healed at the end made me really unhappy。 Also for me this book had a little too much of the dark fog memories described, and it seemed just like waste of time so meanwhile can another part of storyline go forward。 But overall I think this book was necessary in the series。

This was my least favorite of this series but I probably ugly cried the most in the best of ways throughout it。 The tandem read with this and Empire of Storms is absolutely the way to go。

A lot of people skip Tower of Dawn is this series, but I really enjoyed it。 I think you should 100% read it if you want the full picture and storey line to come together。

great book, didn’t tandem read。

It was hard to empathize with the story in the beginning。 I think this is because Chaol was not my favorite character。 However, halfway through the book it took hold of me and I couldn't put it down。 It took me several months though because I just didn't like the first half。 Yrene has my heart。 And how so? Yrene and chaol are married! Sartaq and Nesryn were destined from minute one。 Maeve can go kill herself, Valg queen?!!! Wtf。 I sincerely hope Falkan turns out to be related to Lysandra It was hard to empathize with the story in the beginning。 I think this is because Chaol was not my favorite character。 However, halfway through the book it took hold of me and I couldn't put it down。 It took me several months though because I just didn't like the first half。 Yrene has my heart。 And how so? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I checked out this book on three separate occasions because most of the book was very slow and boring。 I am fighting for my life to get through TOG series for the sake of the multiverse。 3/4 of the way in, the book finally picks up and becomes enjoyable。 The plot and relationships after this point are fantastic。

Lest diese Reihe !!!!4,5/5⭐️ 。。。more

Fácilmente pudo ser un 5。5, no entiendo la razón de tener puro relleno。 Todo se pudo contar perfectamente en la mitad de las páginas。No me interesa la vida amorosa de Chaol。 No me interesa Chaol。

I really enjoyed Choal's journey! I would even say I liked this slightly better the Empire Of Storms。 I can see how people would be frustrated reading this after the way EOS ends。 100% recommend a tandem read。 I really enjoyed Choal's journey! ahhhh!!!!!!!! the ending!!!!!!!!! everything is coming together!!!!! these books are so well written i could cry。 yes i was not looking forward to this one bc i have always found chaol boring, but i ended up really enjoying it (although again, the beginning was slow)。 i am just so happy for him and all of his progress, and for nesryn。 one of my favorite things about these books is that they don’t just immediately partner up with one person and then that’s it。 they grow and change and their love ahhhh!!!!!!!! the ending!!!!!!!!! everything is coming together!!!!! these books are so well written i could cry。 yes i was not looking forward to this one bc i have always found chaol boring, but i ended up really enjoying it (although again, the beginning was slow)。 i am just so happy for him and all of his progress, and for nesryn。 one of my favorite things about these books is that they don’t just immediately partner up with one person and then that’s it。 they grow and change and their love interests change too, just like in real life。 but ahhh i am very very nervous for the last book 。。。more

So many people hated this book。 But I really enjoyed it。 Chaol was one of my favorite characters and seeing his growth and him find some kind of happiness was great。 I also feel like this book will help fill in any gaps and tie everything together for the final book。 You learn so much in this book that I think will be game changing for Kingdom of Ash。

Alyssa

A bit of a slog but I’m glad I read it。 The Assassin and the Healer was my favourite lol part of the prequel so I’m glad I got more Yrene。 Definitely redeemed Chaol。

Emily

I loved having Chaol’s perspective! As much as a hater I was towards him, I loved seeing him develop throughout this book! It could be slow at times, but I have grown to accept him again and I love his relationship with Yerene!
