Summary

In this prequel to #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon They Both Die at the End, two new strangers spend a life-changing day together after Death-Cast first makes their fateful calls。

It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict when someone will die, or is it just an elaborate hoax?

Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die。 He has a serious heart condition, and he signed up for Death-Cast so he could know what’s coming。

Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York。 He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident。

Orion and Valentino cross paths in Times Square and immediately feel a deep connection。 But when the first round of End Day calls goes out, their lives are changed forever—one of them receives a call, and the other doesn’t。 Though neither boy is certain how the day will end, they know they want to spend it together…even if that means their goodbye will be heartbreaking。

Told with acclaimed author Adam Silvera’s signature bittersweet touch, this story celebrates the lasting impact that people have on each other and proves that life is always worth living to the fullest。

This was such a beautiful storyline and I was intimidated by the length of it but I enjoyed every single page。 This is the prequel to Adam Silvera’s other book “They Both Die In The End”。 Similar to that book you have the foreshadowing of what’s going to happen in the title itself yet the book is so beautifully written that you’re not thinking about the inevitable end and you’re rather appreciating the story。 It’s amazing how Adam does that as this book truly is about the journey you go through This was such a beautiful storyline and I was intimidated by the length of it but I enjoyed every single page。 This is the prequel to Adam Silvera’s other book “They Both Die In The End”。 Similar to that book you have the foreshadowing of what’s going to happen in the title itself yet the book is so beautifully written that you’re not thinking about the inevitable end and you’re rather appreciating the story。 It’s amazing how Adam does that as this book truly is about the journey you go through in life。 Although the world is a dystopian world where characters get notified by Death-Cast of their End day。 This very concept makes you take a step back and reflect and think about what you would do differently if you were told the day you’re going to die。 And given that we don’t live in this dystopian world and we won’t ever know when we’re going to die we should live everyday like it’s our End Day and appreciate every second of it。 That was just a realisation that I came to when reading the book - it really does get you thinking。Of course it’s a romance the best kind of books plus the cherry on top it’s gay。 It’s a male-male romance following Valentino & Orion and their beautiful love story that makes it oh so much more heartfelt。 There are several mini plots along the main plot to keep it interesting yet not confusing at all。 I really love @adamsilvera his work and I hope to read more of his books in the future。 。。。more

I wasn’t really impressed by this book。 I didn’t connect to the characters like I did in They Both Die At the End and it felt too repetitive of the first book。 I did like the little glimpses and foreshadowing of the original book though。

omg the way that all the characters lives are intertwined through this book and into ‘they both die at the end’ is incredible

YAY! I was really excited and suprised I was the first to borrow this wonderful book from the library, I thought it would have a long hold list, but I was wrong。 I am so thankful to be able to get my hands on this gem, because it was worth every page。 The characters were very similar to They Both Die in the End with two very different yet very similar male friends-to-lovers both with a sister-like someone in their life。 I am glad this edition to the universe branched out a bit more, with more st YAY! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I think this book is even better than the first one。 The suspense was even higher and I enjoyed how strongly interconnected all of the characters were plus the Mateo and Rufus cameos。 The fact that literally anything could happen made the story that much more intriguing because nothing was necessarily following the “rules” of Death-Cast that we know from the first book。

I don’t know what it is about Adam Silvera’s writing that just reels me in。 I devour his books!! And at first I’m like oh, this is a little cheesy。 Oh, these characters are too perfect for each other。 Oh this oh that, but you know what!!! I loved this book。 I laughed。 I definitely cried。 What is it about this little universe Adam created that sinks it’s teeth into me? I don’t know, but I’ll gladly keep buying his books。

2。5 starsI don’t know, this just felt way too much like a rehashing of They Both Die at the End for me to really get into it。 Only not as good。 I didn’t buy into Valentino and Orion’s insta-love and there was waaay too much time spent going over Orion and Valentino’s “I can’t believe he’s/I’m going to die” feelings。 I’m not saying it’s not authentic that they would have obsessed over that。 I mean, who wouldn’t if you knew you were going to die that day? But it didn’t do the storyline any favors 2。5 starsI don’t know, this just felt way too much like a rehashing of They Both Die at the End for me to really get into it。 Only not as good。 I didn’t buy into Valentino and Orion’s insta-love and there was waaay too much time spent going over Orion and Valentino’s “I can’t believe he’s/I’m going to die” feelings。 I’m not saying it’s not authentic that they would have obsessed over that。 I mean, who wouldn’t if you knew you were going to die that day? But it didn’t do the storyline any favors to beat it to death。 Also, what was all that with Joaquin Rosa supposedly figuring out what was going on with the (view spoiler)[ people dying without getting a Death-Cast call, and even going so far as to saying that there would be 12 people total die without being notified, but then it’s never addressed again what had caused it or how he knew that there would only be 12? Either tell us the answer or don’t freaking bring it up! (hide spoiler)]I ended up rushing through the last half of the book, especially Orion and Valentino’s sections, just to get to the end and see if there was any good twist or anything, but it just fell flat for me。 。。。more

4。5/5 Wow。 The only reason I marked this down, is because I was expecting to cry。 I didn’t; but oh my god this book pulls at some heartstrings。 I didn’t think it would be cute AND so gut wrenching at the same time。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Another heartbreak moment after I finished the book。 I love seeing Paz, Rufus, and Mateo in a cameo。 Especially Rufus and Mateo oc。 Suddenly I remember what was gonna happen to them in 10 years then I got another heartbreak moment…The cons for this book is we already could predict what’s gonna happen to Valentino。 And yup, my prediction was right。 Frankie is the cause of his death。 Unlike TBDATE, we have a plot twist ending。 I don’t know…。。 I feel hollow now。 My mind’s still left on the bookAdam Another heartbreak moment after I finished the book。 I love seeing Paz, Rufus, and Mateo in a cameo。 Especially Rufus and Mateo oc。 Suddenly I remember what was gonna happen to them in 10 years then I got another heartbreak moment…The cons for this book is we already could predict what’s gonna happen to Valentino。 And yup, my prediction was right。 Frankie is the cause of his death。 Unlike TBDATE, we have a plot twist ending。 I don’t know…。。 I feel hollow now。 My mind’s still left on the bookAdam Silvera did a great job again! 3。5 stars for originality and readability。A YA read and prequel to ‘They All Die at the End’。 Set in NYC on Death-Casts first day of operation is a slightly cliche love-at-first sight story between Orion and Valentino。 Their story was a little too syrupy but the multiple POVs from other characters keep it interesting。Not as thought provoking for me as the first book but still a solid, easy read that will appeal as l to Young Adult readers。

Wow wow wow。 The prequel was just as good as the original- they both die at the end。 What an amazingly beautiful story。 Yes i have tears! But i wouldnt change a thing。 💙

pretty similar vibe to the first one but i think i like the story in this one more, but maybe that’s because i don’t remember the first one very well。 some of the dialogue feels a bit unrealistic and forced to me, like it’s written purely to get quotable moments。 3。5, rounded to 4 for still making me cry!
