Summary

Your childhood crush turned movie star。 Now set to play the leading role in a book he doesn't know you wrote about him。

Jason Thorn is a name everyone recognises。 A famous actor with the big house, nice car and the bad boy reputation to match。 But Olive knows him as her brother’s childhood friend and the boy who broke her heart。

But years later, he should be easy to avoid even if he’s impossible to ignore。 That is until Olive’s first novel suddenly becomes a bestseller and the film rights get sold to the highest bidder。 In an instant, she’s sitting across the table from a team of executives and Jason Thorn himself。

Jason hasn’t long re-entered her life before she finds himself being whisked around in his car and – inexplicably – being talked into a fake dating plot to restore his damaged reputation。

This review is a shambles, ENJOY!I’m just glad I borrowed this book from my local library and didn’t waste any of my own money on it。 The writing was cringe worthy at (most) times as well as the dialogue, like c’mon。 The way Jason kept referring to Olive as ‘little’ got right on my nipple ends。This book has no reason being this long, nor should I have been made to wait 270 pages for the sexy time to happen, just for that to be cringe too!! 3。5 Stars And that’s a generous rating。 Okay so I’m gonna be honest here the writing quality is terrible, like I was so close to dnf’ing at the start but I kept reading because I liked the storyline。 I’m glad I continued because there were parts I really loved and had me squealing like a teenager。 If it wasn’t for that this book would have been two stars max, the writing just really didn’t live up to the premise, the lack of contractions throughout just made scenes feel really impersonal and sti 3。5 Stars And that’s a generous rating。 Okay so I’m gonna be honest here the writing quality is terrible, like I was so close to dnf’ing at the start but I kept reading because I liked the storyline。 I’m glad I continued because there were parts I really loved and had me squealing like a teenager。 If it wasn’t for that this book would have been two stars max, the writing just really didn’t live up to the premise, the lack of contractions throughout just made scenes feel really impersonal and stilted- nobody talks like that in real life。 I admit though there were some scenes/lines that were really cheesy and not in a good way。 It’s a shame because if the writing was better I really think this could have been a 5 star read。 。。。more

I wouldnt say I love this book or like it。 It’s in between love and like。 I don’t hate/dislike it either。 I read the second book before I read this。 Most said that the first book is way better but imo, I disagree。 I liked the second book way better。 Maybe it’s becusse I’m not a big fan of childhood friends/one sided love to lovers。 I didn’t like how Jason is so sweet/loving? I hated olive, i hated jason。 I hated the fatphobic comments。 I hate the ‘i’m not like other girls 🤪’ trope。 I hated fact that the age gap wouldn’t be weird if he didn’t flirt with her when they were younger or call her ‘little one’ or ‘baby’ every second page。 I hated scene where he ‘touched’ a drunk olive。 I hated the scene where olive touched him whilst he was asleep。 I hated the writing。 I hate tiktok for recommending me this book

DNF The book made me uncomfortable I feel like the age gap is a bit too much when we are in the chapters where the Olive is 6 and 13。 The POV of a six year old didn’t help would of been better is she was reminiscing。 The story had potential but the poor writing ruined it for me。 I sadly won’t pick this author again anytime soon。

It was cute。 I enjoyed it。 They were adorable。 I loved Oliver and Jason and the whole storyline of him being the actor in her movie from her book I love I am mean loved Lucy and olives relationship。 Their friendship is immaculate I loved it。 I will say some parts of the book just did not intrigue me or keep my attention as much and the epilogue it was sort of cute but it wasn’t what I expected or what I really wanted but overall the book was Hella cute I adore them also, the book was very spicy It was cute。 I enjoyed it。 They were adorable。 I loved Oliver and Jason and the whole storyline of him being the actor in her movie from her book I love I am mean loved Lucy and olives relationship。 Their friendship is immaculate I loved it。 I will say some parts of the book just did not intrigue me or keep my attention as much and the epilogue it was sort of cute but it wasn’t what I expected or what I really wanted but overall the book was Hella cute I adore them also, the book was very spicy and I loved the fucking spice。 It was so good。 。。。more

So。。。 I understand why people give this book one star, but also why they give it 4 or more。I landed on 2,5 stars。 This kind of book is a little bit out of my comfort zone。This book is both terribly horrendous, degrading, unbelievable in many parts and filled with stupid stereotypes 。 But also very entertaining, stupidly funny and sweet。It made me angry and gruff out loud but also giggle and laugh alot!I listened to this on audiobook and the female narrator is hilarious and so dramatic in the bes So。。。 I understand why people give this book one star, but also why they give it 4 or more。I landed on 2,5 stars。 This kind of book is a little bit out of my comfort zone。This book is both terribly horrendous, degrading, unbelievable in many parts and filled with stupid stereotypes 。 But also very entertaining, stupidly funny and sweet。It made me angry and gruff out loud but also giggle and laugh alot!I listened to this on audiobook and the female narrator is hilarious and so dramatic in the best possible way that I laughed out loud several times。Through the good and the bad I was entertained the entire time。 。。。more

Probably the worst BookTok book I’ve read。 I’ve never wanted to finish a book more than this one。 God, the writing was so choppy and the storyline was so odd, like seriously what actually happened in this book。 The final chapter was eye roll after eye roll。 The past tense of the book completely threw me off I thought it’d end by the end of the 3rd chapter but no it carried on🙄

Sherineex

Synopsis sounded really interesting which was why I picked up the book, but it ended up being way too cliche and weird in some ways。 Probably not going to remember this plot in a week’s time 🙃

3/5 ⭐️ This book was kind of cute but I personally didn’t find anything special about it。 Olive’s crush on Jason at the beginning of the book was adorable and thats one of the things I liked about this book。 I love the brother’s best friend trope so I was instantly interested in this book in the beginning。 I haven’t come across many romance books with actors as the main character so it was something new and unique for me。 Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would。 I feel like 3/5 ⭐️ This book was kind of cute but I personally didn’t find anything special about it。 Olive’s crush on Jason at the beginning of the book was adorable and thats one of the things I liked about this book。 I love the brother’s best friend trope so I was instantly interested in this book in the beginning。 I haven’t come across many romance books with actors as the main character so it was something new and unique for me。 Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would。 I feel like nothing really happened in this book。 I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Olive and Jason。 I was also kind of bored at times。 This is a 400 page book and I feel like it should have been way shorter。 Some parts of the story were kind of cheesy but I did like the romantic moments between the characters。 Jason’s forehead kisses were just the cutest。 Overall, it was just an okay read for me。 。。。more

Olive had her heart broken by her childhood crush, who was her big brother's best friend, and although it was years ago and Jason moved away when they were still kids, she still carries a torch for him。 So much so, in fact, that she wrote a romance novel with a main couple that's a barely-disguised version of her and Jason。 Things take a turn for the crazy when her novel gets optioned and the studio gets Jason himself (now a huge movie star) to play the male lead, and then there's an even crazie Olive had her heart broken by her childhood crush, who was her big brother's best friend, and although it was years ago and Jason moved away when they were still kids, she still carries a torch for him。 So much so, in fact, that she wrote a romance novel with a main couple that's a barely-disguised version of her and Jason。 Things take a turn for the crazy when her novel gets optioned and the studio gets Jason himself (now a huge movie star) to play the male lead, and then there's an even crazier turn when he asks Olive to marry him in a PR ploy to get his rep back on trap (he's a bit of a bad boy, dontcha know)。 Will he actually fall in love with her so she can make her live-long love dreams a reality? I’d heard nothing but good things about Ella Maisie’s books and when I saw this I had to buy it。 It’s a very cute friends-to-lovers, marriage of convenience romance that’s very spicy once the main characters get themselves together。 It was very slow burn but as soon as they give in, the spice is 0-100 🌶 really quickly - like every other chapter。 Although it was a slow burner, the story itself felt really rushed。 It says in the foreword that the process is sped up for the sake of the romance but I’d heard nothing but good things about Ella Maisie’s books and when I saw this I had to buy it。 It’s a very cute friends-to-lovers, marriage of convenience romance that’s very spicy once the main characters get themselves together。 It was very slow burn but as soon as they give in, the spice is 0-100 🌶 really quickly - like every other chapter。 Although it was a slow burner, the story itself felt really rushed。 It says in the foreword that the process is sped up for the sake of the romance but I didn’t think that would apply to the actual romance。 I loved Olive and Jason together but at times the dialogue was really cringey。 Olive repeatedly talks about how she wants to melt into a puddle and I just didn’t like that。 Jason’s dirty talk was 10/10 and he definitely can talk。 The side characters were brilliant to as they could all see how blind Jason and Olive were。 The epilogue was very cute and I think it was the perfect way to end the book。 Overall, it’s a very cute romance and I’d definitely rate it more 3。5 ⭐️ with plenty of spice。 I’m glad I picked this one up。 。。。more

I threw up in my mouth every time Jason called Olive "Little One"。 That pet-name should be illegal。 The writing was choppy and several scenes were shoehorned in to the detriment of the plot, but it was cute!Watch your drink at bars, folks! I am so disappointed I need to rant。This book had me hooked in the first half。 It was a bit of a slow burn and I was so ready for something to happen。Jason Thorn as a teenager is the sweetest ever, fast forward years later and a complete douchebag。 The spicy scenes were way too much, he was so vulgar and demanding with her。 She was simping for him so hard to the point where I was embarrassed to even be reading it。 It’s almost as if he really didn’t care about her at all unless it was for sex。 Th I am so disappointed I need to rant。This book had me hooked in the first half。 It was a bit of a slow burn and I was so ready for something to happen。Jason Thorn as a teenager is the sweetest ever, fast forward years later and a complete douchebag。 The spicy scenes were way too much, he was so vulgar and demanding with her。 She was simping for him so hard to the point where I was embarrassed to even be reading it。 It’s almost as if he really didn’t care about her at all unless it was for sex。 The awkward placement of “sweetheart” constantly had me cringing。 I also felt like the book was going in and out of different writing styles。That is all。 。。。more

Regardless of the storyline, I was deeply uncomfortable by the language used by the main characters, particularly the male lead Jason: ‘I never want you to run away from me again。 If you do, I will always come after you。 I want you to remember that。’ The language is deeply misogynistic, controlling, and attempts to glamorise coercive behaviours in relationships which is never, ever ok。Furthermore, he continues to refer to her in infantilising terms such as calling her ‘little one’ and ‘sweethear Regardless of the storyline, I was deeply uncomfortable by the language used by the main characters, particularly the male lead Jason: ‘I never want you to run away from me again。 If you do, I will always come after you。 I want you to remember that。’ The language is deeply misogynistic, controlling, and attempts to glamorise coercive behaviours in relationships which is never, ever ok。Furthermore, he continues to refer to her in infantilising terms such as calling her ‘little one’ and ‘sweetheart’。 The whole thing is deeply uncomfortable, problematic, and altogether wrong。 DNF。 。。。more
