Summary

IT STARTED WITH A CUP…

Isabella Shay is usually a very honest person。

But when she’s running late for her first day at a dream job and the barista yells for “Amy” 3x with no answer, she does the unthinkable。

Izzy takes that PSL。

It’s the exact drink she ordered and paid for, only waaaay further ahead in the line, so she mutters “I’m Amy” and grabs the cup。

But when she turns around and runs directly into the most attractive man she’s ever seen, spilling the drink all over his GQ shirt and tie, she ends up having the ultimate meet-cute。 Sparks fly and things feel beyond promising until he says the words, “See you tomorrow, Amy。”

Uh, oh – she’ll definitely have to straighten him out the following day。

Only when she gets to her new office and meets the VP of her department, it is none other than Blake Phillips - the hottie from Starbucks。 And the man might’ve been charming to “Amy,” but he is an arrogant grump to Izzy, an arrogant grump who dos not find her explanation funny at all。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 this is literally one of my favorite books。 It has grumpy sunshine and friends to lovers, which are not 2 tropes that I particularly enjoy, but this book was so sweet! I loved both of the characters, and I laughed out loud so many times。

So stinking cute! Were there errors & typos? Yes。 Was it cringy & a little annoying at times? Yes。 Did I care? Nope。 Knowing that this was written chapter by chapter for her email subscribers then turned into a book, I knew what to expect。 But the story made up for it。 This was adorable & too funny! Tropes include: instalove, workplace romance, lots of texts, quirky girl。 All things I really like even tho I know most hate instalove。 The title of the book ties in perfectly & it’s so cute! This was such a cute read and a very interesting meet cute! I loved the way Izzy and Blake met and how they couldn’t resist each other。 The banter and the wit was excellent。 I especially enjoyed seeing the way their friendship developed and the way they tried to navigate the professional and personal relationship。 However, I didn’t enjoy the writing, whilst there a few informal moments, there were a bit too many for my liking (I think Gawdddddd was used multiple times)。 Also, the relationship tu This was such a cute read and a very interesting meet cute! this book was cute and the banter reminds me of kyle and i, but i hate when books have dumb problems with simple solutions

This was such a cute and fun read! The meet cute was hilarious and the fun just continued from there。 The dynamic between Izzy and Blake and how their relationship evolved was so well done。 I loved how much Blake was struggling with being Izzy's boss and his feelings for her (insert swoon here)。 Honourable mention to the cat secondary characters, they were a hilarious addition to the story! If you are looking for a super cute, fun rom-com, highly recommend this one! This was such a cute and fun read! 4。5 stars! I loved the characters soo much。 such a cute read!! I feel like it didn’t have as much depth as recent books I’ve read recently, but I loved it all the same。 definitely a light hearted rom-com and I definitely laughed and just enjoyed reading。

Did this take me days to finish? Yes。 Did that hinder my rating? No。 I absolutely adored this book!! The banter was top tier and there were so many funny laugh out loud moments。 Such a great fun read!

I only got to 15% of this book & I just couldn't do it。 I loved Better Than the Movies and enjoyed Mr。 Wrong Number, I would rather leave Lynn Painter on a high, other than a low。 My reasons for DNF'ing, the main female MC was very annoying。 It felt like she was trying to be the FMC from Mr。 Wrong Number but just even more over the top。 I only got to 15% of this book & I just couldn't do it。 I loved Better Than the Movies and enjoyed Mr。 Wrong Number, I would rather leave Lynn Painter on a high, other than a low。 My reasons for DNF'ing, the main female MC was very annoying。 It felt like she was trying to be the FMC from Mr。 Wrong Number but just even more over the top。 。。。more

Have I meantioned how much I love Lynn Painter? I loved this book, but not as much a her other books。 I think its because this is a self published book that was originally sent out in her email newsletter。 There's just a handful of errors I noticed and because there's so much texting in the book I would have appreciated some more formating to make it separated?Iz and Blake are adorable and I haven't read many office romances and the tension of an accidentally meeting and connection before realiz Have I meantioned how much I love Lynn Painter? I’m really sorry to say this but my favourite thing about this book was Josh, the funniest character even though he only made a cameo two to three times。 The plot was really interesting, I was excited to read it because of it but somehow the author messed up on characters。 I disliked Izzy’s character, she was the most childish lead ever。 And Blake goes ‘I love her’ when she does the dumbest thing ever。 And although I didn’t dislike Blake’s character the way he was so in love with childish Izzy m I’m really sorry to say this but my favourite thing about this book was Josh, the funniest character even though he only made a cameo two to three times。 The plot was really interesting, I was excited to read it because of it but somehow the author messed up on characters。 I disliked Izzy’s character, she was the most childish lead ever。 And Blake goes ‘I love her’ when she does the dumbest thing ever。 And although I didn’t dislike Blake’s character the way he was so in love with childish Izzy made it not so good for me。 Ok I agree sometimes a guy doing this for his girl is cute but it just didn’t work here, it made me cringe。 。。。more

After reading some of the reviews here I realize I am not the only one。This book started well, it was fun, the story promising。But already after one fourth I was starting to feel bored。 Because nothing really happened! They met, they had some quite witty conversations - and then? nothing。 No development, no problems, just floating along。。 even the dialogues weren't fun any more。 And I got sick of them mentioning how perfect the other half was - always pointing out that - of course!! - this wasn't After reading some of the reviews here I realize I am not the only one。This book started well, it was fun, the story promising。But already after one fourth I was starting to feel bored。 Because nothing really happened! They met, they had some quite witty conversations - and then? nothing。 No development, no problems, just floating along。。 even the dialogues weren't fun any more。 And I got sick of them mentioning how perfect the other half was - always pointing out that - of course!! - this wasn't important to them but oh my gaaaaawd。。。。Maybe I should have started counting how often they used the word fucking instead? 。。。more

Definitely cute。 But I also experienced a lot of second hand embarrassment due to Isabella’s lack of chill。 Isabella is so chaotic and I love her。 I actually liked the conflict in this story and I really for Blake toward the end。 Even I was unsure of how to best handle that situation professionally。 But I think he did the best he could do in that particular situation。So cute though。 Definitely 3 starssss!

Nina

Very cute and cheesy, count me in 😍 I loved the banter! Also, I wouldn’t mind me some Blake, just saying 🤷‍♀️

jennifer

was a solid 3-star read til the end where girliepop dug through the dumpster and fished shit out。

3。5 starsThe plot was incredibly adorable my only complaints are the fact that this book need an editor。 Someone else reading it would have caught those small mistakes before it was published。

⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️My first book by Lynn painter and I did enjoy it。 It’s just a really cute read with two characters meeting and having a connection immediately! What I love the most is the easy banter and friendship between Izzy & Blake。 I was smiling and laughing a lot! Although they were too sweet sometimes I found myself groaning in jealousy 😂The story is fast paced but you really feel the chemistry between the characters! It was just the perfect light fun sweet read!

This should’ve been a short story。

I wish this was done in dual POV。。 it’s in 3rd person (? I think) it did have parts where it was labeled by character but it still wasn’t true dual POV。 I did enjoy this book。 Wish it had more of a plot and it did fall a bit flat towards the 2nd half。It had some really great and cute parts。 Loved all the funny parts as well。 Overall it was really cute。 *************Izzy: For sure。 This whole thing is either love or spoiled meat。 Blake: Well, then - I spoiled meat you。 Izzy: I spoiled meat you, t I wish this was done in dual POV。。 it’s in 3rd person (? the dialogue/witty banter reminded me of mr。 wrong number in a very good way, but overall the romance fell flat to me。 all this tension and build up for them to be texting mid sex scene felt childish。
