As the crew expands I get a better sense of the relationships developing。 The sense of humor keeps catching me off guard， especially now that we have more characters， it is charming。 I have to say Nami is quickly becoming my favorite。

Well， I'm flying through these omnibus volumes so far。Really liked this volume！ I think Usopp is my favorite character so far; they really did a good job introducing this character， complete with requisite （and oddly touching） backstory！ We also begin to learn more about the larger story， with more information being given about the Grand Line。I know I'm early in the saga （still in the East Blue arc）， but hoping they continue with this level of pacing and enthusiasm。 Well， I'm flying through these omnibus volumes so far。Really liked this volume！ I think Usopp is my favorite character so far; they really did a good job introducing this character， complete with requisite （and oddly touching） backstory！ We also begin to learn more about the larger story， with more information being given about the Grand Line。I know I'm early in the saga （still in the East Blue arc）， but hoping they continue with this level of pacing and enthusiasm。 。。。more

I'm glad that I bought the 2nd volume as I enjoyed the 1st volume very much and wanted to continue reading！ While reading this and after， I kept on thinking about the time I used to watch the anime。 However， I also realized the differences in reading it and watching it。 Although it's the same story， reading it had its own fun in it and I noticed that I might get obsessed with reading mangas。One Piece is really amazing。 The characters are funny and sometimes dumb， but when they become serious， th I'm glad that I bought the 2nd volume as I enjoyed the 1st volume very much and wanted to continue reading！ While reading this and after， I kept on thinking about the time I used to watch the anime。 However， I also realized the differences in reading it and watching it。 Although it's the same story， reading it had its own fun in it and I noticed that I might get obsessed with reading mangas。One Piece is really amazing。 The characters are funny and sometimes dumb， but when they become serious， they show their passion and fight cooler than anyone。 They all have deep reasons or long stories of why they aren't giving up and they are just so cool。 The story might be fiction， but their courage can give others courage as well。 。。。more

Plot:Luffy and crew confront Captain Kuro， who's been posing as a butler， and the Black Cat Pirates。 Local boy Usopp and his kid pirate crew help defend their village and Miss Kaya， a young orphaned heiress。 Miss Kaya gifts Luffy with the Merry Go。 To find a cook for their ship， Luffy et al go to Baratie oceangoing restaurant where they meet Sanji and Chef Zeff and confront Don Krieg and "Hawk-Eye" Mihawk。Thoughts:I have a harder time getting into this than other people I know。At times it feels Plot:Luffy and crew confront Captain Kuro， who's been posing as a butler， and the Black Cat Pirates。 Local boy Usopp and his kid pirate crew help defend their village and Miss Kaya， a young orphaned heiress。 Miss Kaya gifts Luffy with the Merry Go。 To find a cook for their ship， Luffy et al go to Baratie oceangoing restaurant where they meet Sanji and Chef Zeff and confront Don Krieg and "Hawk-Eye" Mihawk。Thoughts:I have a harder time getting into this than other people I know。At times it feels like it takes a long time to get through a short span of story。 Like， HOW long was that confrontation on the beach with the Black Cat Pirates？ I think the correct answer is "forever。" It's possible that it's still going on and I just *think* I finished that section because my mind couldn't cope with the reality。I like how confident Luffy is about getting people on his crew。Nami is funny in her single-minded determination to get treasure。 Obviously， I don't necessarily find this trait "likable，" though。I think I like Zolo the best out of these first three characters。 It's nice that he seemed to impress Hawk-Eye。 I was probably most interested in this section of the story。I'm not a fan of Usopp。 Partly because I don't care for how he's drawn， partly because I didn't really like his reputation as the town liar。 I recognize that he cares for Kaya and his "pirate" crew， which is nice， and he's a sharpshooter， which is useful。I like that Sanji feeds people on principle even though it can backfire。I'm not really reading this series for ME， but rather because people around me really like it。 Which is fine。 。。。more
