In book two, Enola has set up shop in London as a detective herself, and is working on her next case。 These are great, short mysteries in the same vein as Sherlock Holmes mysteries that can be enjoyed by most ages。 While this story was great, the movie version on Netflix didn't really follow this storyline at all。 That being said, I actually really liked the movie because of the history it involves。 The story is based on the real 1888 matchgirls' strike and the life of labour activist Sarah Chap In book two, Enola has set up shop in London as a detective herself, and is working on her next case。 These are great, short mysteries in the same vein as Sherlock Holmes mysteries that can be enjoyed by most ages。 While this story was great, the movie version on Netflix didn't really follow this storyline at all。 That being said, I actually really liked the movie because of the history it involves。 The story is based on the real 1888 matchgirls' strike and the life of labour activist Sarah Chapman。 。。。more

Enola homes has run away so her eldest brother does not force her into boarding school。 She sets out to find one missing Lady Cecily who has come up missing in the night。 True to Sherlock holmes mysteries Enola sets out to follow all the clues which will lead her to the Lady while avoiding Sherlock who is persistently in pursuit to bring her home and off to boarding school。

"221 Baker Street: just another numbered doorway in a common wall of shops and residences, an ordinary enough place to house such an extraordinary person as Sherlock Holmes。" "221 Baker Street: just another numbered doorway in a common wall of shops and residences, an ordinary enough place to house such an extraordinary person as Sherlock Holmes。" 。。。more

A good read even if the Netflix series has made me biased。 I really like the Netflix series based on these books but they are really different than the source material。 I have to treat them as two seperate things in order to derive the greatest enjoyment from each。 That being said this book is definitely worth a read。

I didn't like book 2 as much as the 1st one。 I wish there were more Sherlock scenesI'm going to try book 3 to see if I want to continue。 Ready for the movie to come out。 I didn't like book 2 as much as the 1st one。 I wish there were more Sherlock scenesI'm going to try book 3 to see if I want to continue。 Ready for the movie to come out。 。。。more

4。5 starsI read the first Enola Holmes book earlier in the year, after my boys watched it on Netflix, and loved it。 This one was even better。 The first book, as many in a series seem to be, was mainly about character set up。 But now that we have met Enola, Sherlock, Mycroft and their mother, this book was more about the mystery of Lady Cecily。 Although there were also some marvellous scenes of Enola outsmarting her detective brother。I love Enola as she is determined to live life her way, not the 4。5 starsI read the first Enola Holmes book earlier in the year, after my boys watched it on Netflix, and loved it。 This one was even better。 The first book, as many in a series seem to be, was mainly about character set up。 But now that we have met Enola, Sherlock, Mycroft and their mother, this book was more about the mystery of Lady Cecily。 Although there were also some marvellous scenes of Enola outsmarting her detective brother。I love Enola as she is determined to live life her way, not the way society dictated to young women of the late 19th century。 She refuses to be trapped into decency。"If any decent woman's calling consisted of taking her proper place in society (husband and house, plus voice lessons and a piano in the drawing-room), then this particular woman-to-be prefers to remain indecent。 Or, more accurately speaking, a disgrace to her family。" 。。。more

I just love the action in this book。 And the characters too。

Very compellingly written and interesting。 Here I must also compliment the author that this book or series of books addresses serious issues such as women's rights in the 19th century and communism vs。 capitalism。 So if anyone is looking for a book series for children that is also intelligent, I highly recommend the Enola Holmes books。 But I also really enjoyed the story as an adult。 。。。more

As a left-handed lady, I was intrigued by the title of this volume of the Enola Holmes series。 I love that the titular character writes in mirror, something I used to do all the time (I had to try it out to see if I could still do it - yup, still got it!)。 I can't talk about what I didn't love without giving spoilers, so suffice it to say that the author relies on debunked ideas (even though Enola herself points out that these ideas are not realistic)。 There is also some contradictory anti-worke As a left-handed lady, I was intrigued by the title of this volume of the Enola Holmes series。 I love that the titular character writes in mirror, something I used to do all the time (I had to try it out to see if I could still do it - yup, still got it!)。 I can't talk about what I didn't love without giving spoilers, so suffice it to say that the author relies on debunked ideas (even though Enola herself points out that these ideas are not realistic)。 There is also some contradictory anti-worker rhetoric, and I wasn't sure if the author was lecturing the reader, being ironic, or if she just didn't think about how this would come across。 I really hope the next book is better。 。。。more

Dear Future Kaitlyn,I didn’t like this book。 I still love Enola Holmes as a character, and I liked the parts of the book where Enola was searching for her mother or evading her brothers。 However, the missing person case she investigates was weird。 There was hypnotism and a little too much violence。 Too bad, cause it could be a great book。

These are fun, relatively short mysteries。 I enjoyed them, and I think my pre-teen daughter would enjoy them also。
