This is becoming my all time favourite graphic series!

Joey Kim

Woah。 I did not expect Max would die like that。

Angie Knapp

No one can save the world alone。 That is my big take away as this series continues and each book leads us to new characters that have their own unique, helpful attributes。

Charlie Thompson-Wood

AMULET: Escape From Lucien is only getting this high of a ranking because I think what they did with Max was great。 Everything else was very average especially the side quest with the brother。 Overall this book has enough twists and turns to keep it engaging and you finally get to know who the villain truly is。

I just love this series! Book 6 was a barn burner。 The 5 stars is probably for the feels I have right now and the tears that flowed when some sweet things happened in the story。 Overall it is such a good arc - unite and save the people of the world, defeat the evil elven king and overcome and yet still work with the powerful sentient stones。 The characters are awesome, the art is fantastic, and it is everything you want in a YA graphic novel fantasy series。 For those that like that sort of thing I just love this series! The phenomenal young adult graphic novel series Amulet continues in Book 6, “Escape From Lucien”。 In Kazu Kibuishi’s sci-fi/fantasy epic: Emily travels back into the Void with Max to uncover his secret; Navin and several other pilots-in-training crash-land in the ruined city of Lucien, which is overrun by the parasitic smoke-monsters that turn its victims into zombies; Prince Trellis helps Emily to save the survivors of Lucien, which may turn the tide in the war against the Elf King…

I appreciate that Kibuishi actually lets things fall apart & doesn't immediately patch them up I appreciate that Kibuishi actually lets things fall apart & doesn't immediately patch them up 。。。more

i like the split up and Max' arc was really interesting。 would've liked to have it a bit more drawn out tho, maybe have the ending part in the next book。 i really like Trellis, he has lowkey been my fav since the beginning since i can't help but compare every scorned prince character to loml Zuko。 i like that it's building up to this final battle and i can't wait to see the b-team rejoin the rest of the gang。 also very curious how they're going to solve this whole voice in the amulet thing。 my p i like the split up and Max' arc was really interesting。 would've liked to have it a bit more drawn out tho, maybe have the ending part in the next book。 i really like Trellis, he has lowkey been my fav since the beginning since i can't help but compare every scorned prince character to loml Zuko。 i like that it's building up to this final battle and i can't wait to see the b-team rejoin the rest of the gang。 also very curious how they're going to solve this whole voice in the amulet thing。 my prediction is something along the lines of they put all the pieces together with the mother stone and the voice will be nice or whatever。 kind of like what happened in moana。 let's see if i'm correct 。。。more

This one was really good! I really loved all the different plot lines that were going on and I felt like everyone had something interesting to do for once。 I loved the parts in Lucien and introducing Riva。 Lots of great development in this one, the pace really picked up, I felt like。(Also, gah, the endpapers on this one are the most gorgeous blue!)

"Escape from Lucien" by Kazu Kibuishi is the sixth book of Amulet where we face the end of Max and where Navin discovers Lucien and meets some new friends。 I would give "Escape from Lucien" by Kazu Kibuishi a 5-star review because, 1; even though Max dies at the end and he was a villain he was a character that we could understand and 2; I like how in this one it focuses on more of Navin's Pov。 "Escape from Lucien" by Kazu Kibuishi is the sixth book of Amulet where we face the end of Max and where Navin discovers Lucien and meets some new friends。 I would give "Escape from Lucien" by Kazu Kibuishi a 5-star review because, 1; even though Max dies at the end and he was a villain he was a character that we could understand and 2; I like how in this one it focuses on more of Navin's Pov。 。。。more

Now that Emily and Navin are spending more time with the Cielisians, it is quite apparent that where Leon, their mother, Vigo, and the resistance fighters implicitly trusted Emily and Navin to save the world because of a prophecy, the Cielisians do not。 The Cielisian commander is firmly in the camp that any respect should be earned, and to him, Navin especially hasn’t earned it (since he tests so poorly at exams), and he and Emily are both just kids。 This at a time when they can’t afford to b    Now that Emily and Navin are spending more time with the Cielisians, it is quite apparent that where Leon, their mother, Vigo, and the resistance fighters implicitly trusted Emily and Navin to save the world because of a prophecy, the Cielisians do not。 The Cielisian commander is firmly in the camp that any respect should be earned, and to him, Navin especially hasn’t earned it (since he tests so poorly at exams), and he and Emily are both just kids。 This at a time when they can’t afford to be disagreeing amongst themselves: Max and the Elf King’s forces are hitting hard and fast, decimating the town of Lucien and focused on getting Emily, Vigo, and Trellis – the last Guardian Council。 In order to get ahead of Max, Emily and Trellis will have to do something few Stonekeepers have succeeded in doing: visit Max’s memories and survive the Void。   This is the first book where it is most obvious that there are time-jumps to keep the story moving, because since when is Navin going to school for piloting the Colossus and other mecha/machines? Not to mention the level of destruction the Elf King’s forces are wrecking on Lucien and other cities。 There were also a few moments where things were mentioned as having happened, and if they did on-page, they were phrased differently than here。 I’m reading these close enough together that I would think I would remember some of what they’re mentioning, but then again, I am also reading them fast, and maybe not absorbing every (important) detail quite as thoroughly as I should。   I am enjoying seeing Emily and Navin being able to actively rely on others to support them, something that they’ve always expressed an interest in doing but had very little occasion to put into practice with the adults around them nearly constantly telling them to just trust their instincts。 Which, ironically, is exactly what Aly’s dad tells her, too, as she helps out Navin in his missions。 For the most part, children/teenagers are being trusted with little question, presumably because of the vague prophecy we hear about every now and again。 That doesn’t even take into consideration Max, and what is going on with him。 We learn just enough about him in this book to get an idea of how complex a person he is, but I also feel like it fell short of filling in the lines that were drawn of his history and his motivations。 It seems like ever since the second book or so, there has been considerably less emphasis on fleshing things out, and much more on just keeping things moving and getting as much action in as possible。 This volume fortunately had a little more flesh to it, which is why it took me about an hour to read versus 45-50 minutes for most of the previous volumes, though still not as much as I think it needed to be really solid。 。。。more

I love getting even more backstory for these characters。
