I really enjoyed reading the book as it provides a very comprehensive summary of some fundamental investment principles and ideas。 It is not too technical and the language is easy to digest for readers who are not finance nerds。 The majority of the author’s ideas is based on Buffet’s and Munger’s investment philosophy and, hence, the book offers a refresh on one of the most successful investment concepts (value investing)。

Baid Nailed it。 The only 'self improvement' book that is not filled with cliches。 Life time learning and a hunger for knowledge is paramount to long term success。 One should focus on compounding health, wealth and good will。 Baid Nailed it。 The only 'self improvement' book that is not filled with cliches。 Life time learning and a hunger for knowledge is paramount to long term success。 One should focus on compounding health, wealth and good will。 。。。more

Truly a wonderful and enjoyable book。 It felt like an apt summary of several books on investing and personal development that I've read and many more that I haven't。 Author draws from the works of several dozens of authors, analysts, investors, psychologists, professors etc。 and summarize their teachings quite well。 The book's structure and vibe is very similar to Poor Charlie's Almanack。 Section three, about common stock investing with some examples from the Indian stock market, is worth readin Truly a wonderful and enjoyable book。 It felt like an apt summary of several books on investing and personal development that I've read and many more that I haven't。 Author draws from the works of several dozens of authors, analysts, investors, psychologists, professors etc。 and summarize their teachings quite well。 The book's structure and vibe is very similar to Poor Charlie's Almanack。 Section three, about common stock investing with some examples from the Indian stock market, is worth reading again from time to time。 I'd recommend anyone starting on their "self-education" journey to read this book and countless others that author has quoted throughout the chapters。 。。。more

It could have been much lesser pages。 The author tried too hard, but most ideas are taken from here and there。 If you are looking for original content, you will be disheartened。 Instead of the author's views and subject matter knowledge, too many quotes and examples of others are used。 It could have been much lesser pages。 The author tried too hard, but most ideas are taken from here and there。 If you are looking for original content, you will be disheartened。 Instead of the author's views and subject matter knowledge, too many quotes and examples of others are used。 。。。more

Definitely solid。I would give it a 4。5 stars。 I didn't like that it was presenting conflicting views in different chapters (for instance, in one chapter advocating in favour of buy & hold of index funds, and in another throwing shade on index funds in favour of active (value style) stock picking) because it didn't make it easy to synthesise a cohesive picture of the views of the author。The writing style was decent though, and I really enjoyed the inspirational vibes。 Definitely solid。I would give it a 4。5 stars。 I didn't like that it was presenting conflicting views in different chapters (for instance, in one chapter advocating in favour of buy & hold of index funds, and in another throwing shade on index funds in favour of active (value style) stock picking) because it didn't make it easy to synthesise a cohesive picture of the views of the author。The writing style was decent though, and I really enjoyed the inspirational vibes。 。。。more

One of the best investment books I've read lately。 At the end from around page 300 to 350 it was a bit repetitive which is why it doesn't get a 5/5 but a solid book which I will re-read several times。 Highly recommend this book by Gautam Baid。 One of the best investment books I've read lately。 At the end from around page 300 to 350 it was a bit repetitive which is why it doesn't get a 5/5 but a solid book which I will re-read several times。 Highly recommend this book by Gautam Baid。 。。。more

This isn't just a book, it's a textbook for living a rich life (wealth, knowledge, humility, and happiness)。 I've highlighted and written in it as if it was a college textbook - I don't think I've done this since graduate school。。。This book popped out through an Amazon referral, the sample was captivating, while also being full of quotations by other people。 Yet, the curation of the quotations and the lessons that it reaffirmed were powerful enough to motivate me to become better。 This is a book This isn't just a book, it's a textbook for living a rich life (wealth, knowledge, humility, and happiness)。 I've highlighted and written in it as if it was a college textbook - I don't think I've done this since graduate school。。。This book popped out through an Amazon referral, the sample was captivating, while also being full of quotations by other people。 Yet, the curation of the quotations and the lessons that it reaffirmed were powerful enough to motivate me to become better。 This is a book about value investing but the point is not just to make more money。 It is to lead a richer, happier, healthier life that is aligned to your values。 It's a lifestyle, a way to own your pension, and ensure that you are healthy and happy to enjoy it。 A life that is aligned to your values, measured by your own inner scorecard rather than competing with others or for vanity。 A life of unbridled curiosity where you grow by asking questions。 You learn through research, testing, failing, and succeeding。 Learn, learn, learn。 Read more - be an avid student of history。 Draw parallels, as history rhymes。 People reacted to this pandemic similarly throughout centuries。 People react to financial crashes in the same way year after year, especially the investors who should be more resilient。 The book extols the virtue of equanimity, which I have also found can be cultivated through meditation, as long as you can reserve your willpower for key decisions。 Buy on the dip, but make sure you are never too long cash。 Target great industries and great companies。 The darling (and potentially the nemesis) will provided long term gains。 Refine your process over and over, don't take shortcuts to investing or foolishly do other people's investments。 You willingly learn if you put 8in the hard work, then you need to reflect on the outcome to close the loop。 You need to create your own checklist and only follow it。 Always follow it。 No exceptions。 Otherwise you won't be able to gain the feedback from your own process to better it。 It is always about the process, not the goal。 Process > Goal。 A lifestyle of value investing > money gained。Key tips:(1) Create your own checklist - for your stock picks and also for your behaviour (take away emotion)(2) Live life by your inner score card - investing is for you (learn from your own mistakes, that will create success)。 Also create an inner score card for your growth that will make you happy and healthy through the ups and downs。 (3) Distinguish Uncertainty and Risk - figure out what probabilities you can allocate to outcomes and define the Expected Value of a trade。 Keep learning more to refine the probabilities and the outcomes of each node in your decision tree。 。。。more

A good collection of thoughts and framework from other popular investors along with Baid's own。The book is a bit length, could've been edited better and the flow of ideas/thoughts could've been more organized。 That doesn't take away the effort put in by the author to compile this work and the information shared。 A good collection of thoughts and framework from other popular investors along with Baid's own。The book is a bit length, could've been edited better and the flow of ideas/thoughts could've been more organized。 That doesn't take away the effort put in by the author to compile this work and the information shared。 。。。more

I have grown to really enjoy investment books, and this is a good reminder of why。 The author spends the first four chapters talking about how the real value in compounding comes from reading in addition to financial compounding。 Great principles put forward here in an easy to read style。 The author quotes hundreds of other books and authors, and these are some of the best parts。 Because he pulls so much from others, it does feel like there is little unique to this work。 But, overall, its excell I have grown to really enjoy investment books, and this is a good reminder of why。 The author spends the first four chapters talking about how the real value in compounding comes from reading in addition to financial compounding。 Great principles put forward here in an easy to read style。 The author quotes hundreds of other books and authors, and these are some of the best parts。 Because he pulls so much from others, it does feel like there is little unique to this work。 But, overall, its excellent。 Great addition to your investing library。 。。。more

This book belongs to the category which I'd call a 'Superbook'! It is full of essence from many other great books, articles that you end up with distilled ideas of many others。 If you rather be thorough, you'll also get a great list to read。 Even though the main focus of the book is about investing, it touches many more aspects of life like health and peace of mind。 This book belongs to the category which I'd call a 'Superbook'! Great book! These are must for every one in their 20’s。 Personal finance , investment and attitude towards it is a very neglected topic of curriculums。 The book feels a bit preachy but I guess that’s what you would need sometimes。 Great work by the author。 I have been following him on twitter these days and I definitely understand why he is seriously rated。
