Summary

On the worst birthday of my life, I come home to find my boyfriend in bed with another woman。 Within hours, I’m drunk, homeless, and pledging to stay single forever。 And that is when the dangerously sexy Seelie King rolls through town, looking for fae like me。

Every generation, the king holds a competition for Seelie queen。 But for reasons he won’t explain, Torin is looking for a charade, not a real marriage。 So when I drunkenly sling insults his way, I have his attention。

When Torin offers me fifty million to participate, I think, “What have I got to lose?” The answer turns out to be “my life,” because my competition will literally kill for the crown。

And the more time I spend with the seductive king, the harder it becomes to remember it’s all supposed to be fake。 Now, my life—and my heart—are one the line。

EnjoyableThis is the first book I've read by this author。 It's well written with interesting characters。I am feeling a bit gutted though, as I'll have to wait till January for the next instalment。I guess I'll just have to fill the time by reading the author's other books (like that's a hardship)。This book came up as a recommendation, kindle does seem to have improved their selections。 I'm definitely following this author now。😍 EnjoyableThis is the first book I've read by this author。 It's well written with interesting characters。I am feeling a bit gutted though, as I'll have to wait till January for the next instalment。I guess I'll just have to fill the time by reading the author's other books (like that's a hardship)。This book came up as a recommendation, kindle does seem to have improved their selections。 I'm definitely following this author now。😍 。。。more

Crawford knows how to write a really fun book。 I devoured this in its entirety last night。 It reminds me of a book I read a little earlier this year but the characters were better fleshed out, the world building was way more interesting and the plot line was more believable。 My only complaint is that this felt like it could be standalone and got set up for more towards the end of the book。 Of course I'd never say no to more from the world but had hoped for more resolution and answers here。 Crawford knows how to write a really fun book。 I devoured this in its entirety last night。 It reminds me of a book I read a little earlier this year but the characters were better fleshed out, the world building was way more interesting and the plot line was more believable。 My only complaint is that this felt like it could be standalone and got set up for more towards the end of the book。 Of course I'd never say no to more from the world but had hoped for more resolution and answers here。 。。。more

wowUnexpected turn of events are my favorite。 I love how fae are portrayed as wild and primal and the traditions that are explained。 Can’t wait to read the next one!

I was sucked into this Faerie world and couldn’t put it down。 Can’t wait for the next one。

**There was minimal spice because Torin didn’t want Ava to die。 Heavy sexual tension, enemies or dislike to lovers。 Ava was feeling a little self-conscious because of her breakup with her douchebag boyfriend, but she starts to feel better after Torin whisks her away to Farie。 Well, Ava and Torin fall into like with each other, even though they aren’t supposed to。 Ava thinks maybe it could be more since they like each other’s company and because he wants to protect her beyond holding up his side **There was minimal spice because Torin didn’t want Ava to die。 Heavy sexual tension, enemies or dislike to lovers。 Ava was feeling a little self-conscious because of her breakup with her douchebag boyfriend, but she starts to feel better after Torin whisks her away to Farie。 Well, Ava and Torin fall into like with each other, even though they aren’t supposed to。 Ava thinks maybe it could be more since they like each other’s company and because he wants to protect her beyond holding up his side of the bargain。 But as always Torin pushes Ava away because he doesn’t want her to be stone, and Ava gets even more insecure。 Ava is a badass who doesn’t give up and finds her inner Fae ruthlessness and beats Moira (Torin’s first love’s sister who got turned to stone) at the last fencing match。 But Moira has premonitions and tells Ava that she will get turned to stone by Torin。 Ava confronts Torin and he accidentally touches her, and you guessed it! She starts turning to stone, but before she can transform completely, he rushes her to the throne where she heals。 While sitting on the throne she asks it to go home and says this is NOT worth 50 mill。, where Ava gets thrust into the unseelie land。 Torin is like the Fae medusa。 He’s turning people to stone left and right。 。。。more

This was such a riveting read!! CN crawford always delivers, and this series so far reminds me of her Sea Fae series…which is my favorite of hers。 For those complaining that it’s predictable…。I mean most high fantasy books have similar tropes…。but The chemistry between the characters was insane and this was such an enjoyable read。 She always throws in dry humor as well。 Amazing world building, fast paced, high fantasy and cliff hanger ending。 Not much smut at all…but that’s for a reason。 I’m sur This was such a riveting read!! FrostFrost by C。N。 CrawfordBook 1 in the Frost and Nectar seriesAva Jones’s life is turned on it’s head in an instant when she catches her boyfriend cheating on her and it’s only made worse after a drunken run-in with the bachelor King of the Fae。 But her ex-boyfriend is the least of her worries when she finds herself at the pointy end of a sword, fighting for a lie - or that's what it was meant to be。 It’s got trials, it’s got sword fights, and it’s got a whole lot of tension - like alot。 PaceS FrostFrost by C。N。 CrawfordBook 1 in the Frost and Nectar seriesAva Jones’s life is turned on it’s head in an instant when she catches her boyfriend cheating on her and it’s only made worse after a drunken run-in with the bachelor King of the Fae。 But her ex-boyfriend is the least of her worries when she finds herself at the pointy end of a sword, fighting for a lie - or that's what it was meant to be。 It’s got trials, it’s got sword fights, and it’s got a whole lot of tension - like alot。 PaceShe was a quick read for me。
As with all of C。N。 Crawford’s books I’ve read so far, this one was a quick read。 The plot sprinted through the 320 pages, it actually read like a much shorter book。 My main issue was that I had trouble finding a stopping point to put it down (which is why I read it in a few days)。 Definitely one to read when you can lock yourself away from your family for a weekend and shirk all adult/parental responsibilities (jokes, obviously)。 CharactersAva, Torin, Aeron and Shalini are a dynamic cast of characters that keeps you on your toes with a few surprise twists and turns。 Torin is the painfully handsome Fae King that fits perfectly beside my other book boyfriends (Wrath, Casteel, Hades, Rowen, Hunt, Ruhn, Rhys - it’s a real party)。 Torin and Ava are two bulls draped in red stuck in a pit with no escape but their ire slowly morphs into something else and causes all sorts of beautiful complications, especially where curses are concerned - oh yes, forgot to mention Torin is also cursed, super fun! Crawford has also let the door open to discover more of Ava’s mysterious backstory in book two, which will most definitely cause trouble for the pair。The plot is a bit formulaic, very similar to the Demon Queen Trials Series (which I also loved) with the three trials, the mysterious past, the court intrigue。 But it’s still a really good read and perhaps Crawford reuses these plots points because it works so well。 I will say that Frost has its own modern take on the classic trials/contest trope that is quite entertaining and amusing… I won’t spoil it for you (whoever actually reads this)。 The tropes…t-tmarriage of conveniencet-tenemies(-ish) to loverst-ttrials/contestt-tforced proximityt-troyalty/court intriguet-thidden/secret identityt-thidden powerIs she spicy? There isn’t a great deal of spice but, good lord, is there tension。 It’s definitely an adult novel and I’m so keen to see these two work around their circumstances and bump up the spice!Add to your TBR if you like Stacia Stark, Everly Frost, Katee Robert, Jaymin Eve or a fan of other C。N。 Crawford novels。 。。。more

This book is exactly what I would expect from a CN Crawford book。 It was fun。 fast-paced, sexy。 The heroine is quirky and the hero is broody and HOT! I thought the blend between the fae and human worlds was well done and I love the sub romance happening。 I wish there was a little more interaction between Ava and the other competitors, more inter-character manipulation, less front and center drama。 I am VERY upset that I have to wait for January to continue the story though so that means I quite liked the book overall :) got between a 3 and a 4 star so we'll be generous I thought the blend between the fae and human worlds was well done and I love the sub romance happening。 I wish there was a little more interaction between Ava and the other competitors, more inter-character manipulation, less front and center drama。 I am VERY upset that I have to wait for January to continue the story though so that means I quite liked the book overall :) got between a 3 and a 4 star so we'll be generous 。。。more

I give this a solid 3。5。 I wanted to give it a 4 but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it。 I can’t stand when authors bring in real world present day things like social media or television into fantasy worlds。 I just feel like it should be fantasy… anyway, it wasn’t great but I also couldn’t put it down。 It was addicting。 The tension between Ava and Torin is good and I found myself excited to read those parts。 I think it loved a little fast for a slow burn? Did you like City of Thorns? Congrats, it's the same book。 To give this book some props, I thought the banter between the two MCs was good, and their chemistry was solid。 Cliffhanger ending was seen coming from a mile away, and honestly, felt a bit short。 Did you like City of Thorns? I found this book on Kindle Unlimited, and I absolutely loved it! It was a fantastical read with some real world feel to it! I truly felt for Ava and Torin both, and being able to read the story from both perspectives was a wonderful way to be able to understand both sides。 I can’t wait for the next book in January to see where this story takes them!!!!I returned my kindle unlimited copy and BOUGHT the digital copy of this book, as well as preordered the next。 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰🥰🥰

I don’t give 5 ⭐️ out that often but DAMN! This book had me hooked from the first sentence, I could not put it down。 I loved every minute of this and I need book 2 ASAP。My only regret is only realising it’s a new release after reading it, so now the wait for the second book starts

Great storyThis was a great angsty read。 I loved the Pull of the characters to each other and the world building。 There was definitely steam but no explicit spice。

For fans of The Selection who wanted the story to be deadlier and filled with magic。。。 this might be the book for you。I enjoyed the book from start to finish。 It's easy to like Ava and to follow her journey。 Love Torin too (because why not?) and Shalini is a dream best friend (love to see her with Aeron!)。 The world building was good and easy to follow, and I love how the chemistry slowly built in Ava and Torin's relationship。Looking forward the next book!
