This book is so beautiful。 I enjoyed reading it maybe more than my son enjoyed hearing it。 We both read it together often。
Mika,
My space-loving heart was delighted to find Dream Animals by Emily Winfield Martin, a bedtime lullaby of constellations carrying you away to fantastical dreams。I haven’t memorized a poem since obliged to for school, but I see that changing for this book。
Bren,
This is a favorite in our house。 A beautifully illustrated book with animals and rhyming adventures。
Sheila,
I want to go to the Dreamland!!!
Matthew Nelson,

Lindsay,
Written and illustrated by Emily Winfield Martin, this 32-page children’s story makes a great bedtime or preschool naptime story。 The illustrations of children going on adventures with their favorite stuffed animals in their dreams are beautiful and have a dreamy quality to them。 With the gentle flow of the words, children can be reassured that their favorite animal friend will safely guide them to their next adventure, helping even the smallest nervous sleeper relax into their dream world。
Miranda Cunningham,
Beautiful Beautiful illustrations。 Nice rhythm。 Very Imaginative。 We enjoy the book over and over。 Love the giant animal guides。 Bunny and cat are our favorite
Mama Bearian,
When you fall asleep, maybe a dream animal will carry you to a fantastic dreamland filled with wonderful things。 Maybe you'll fly on the back of a robin, or dive deep into the sea with a narwhal? I love that if you look closely in the illustrations, the dream animals in the story are based on toys in the children's rooms。 This sweet, softly rhyming book is beautifully illustrated and sure to leave kiddos dreaming of their own dream animals。 When you fall asleep, maybe a dream animal will carry you to a fantastic dreamland filled with wonderful things。 Maybe you'll fly on the back of a robin, or dive deep into the sea with a narwhal? A lovely bedtime story。 Beautiful illustrations and a cute little poem to go along with them。 I can imagine studying the images and using imagination to go beyond the story。 Just as expected with a Winfield Martin book。

Peacegal,
I was enchanted by this lushly-illustrated celebration of dreams, and was prepared to give it a perfect rating, but the wild-animal circus scene caused me to dock it a star。 It is my hope that these inhumane spectacles will indeed fade into the past and will someday be only as real as the "dream animals" scampering through the pages of this book, but currently, they still exist and I really wish they would stop getting so much free advertising in the pages of children's lit。 Other than the circu I was enchanted by this lushly-illustrated celebration of dreams, and was prepared to give it a perfect rating, but the wild-animal circus scene caused me to dock it a star。 It is my hope that these inhumane spectacles will indeed fade into the past and will someday be only as real as the "dream animals" scampering through the pages of this book, but currently, they still exist and I really wish they would stop getting so much free advertising in the pages of children's lit。 Other than the circus scene, this is another delightful little book from Martin featuring whimsical fantasy illustrations。 。。。more
Abigail,
"There are animals from long ago / And twice as far away。 / Their maps are made of starlight / And can't be seen by day。 / These creatures are the reason / dreamers get where dreamers go。 / Dreamland is too far to run / And sleepy feet, too slow。" And so begins this lovely bedtime book, in which a series of dream animals help children on their way to their dreams, sharing in the pleasures of elfland, of a tea party with mermaids, and of a circus almost entirely run by animals。 As the narrator co "There are animals from long ago / And twice as far away。 / Their maps are made of starlight / And can't be seen by day。 / These creatures are the reason / dreamers get where dreamers go。 / Dreamland is too far to run / And sleepy feet, too slow。" And so begins this lovely bedtime book, in which a series of dream animals help children on their way to their dreams, sharing in the pleasures of elfland, of a tea party with mermaids, and of a circus almost entirely run by animals。 As the narrator concludes at the close of the book, "Whatever dream you visit / When night replaces day, / Your furred, or finned, or feathered friend / Will surely know the way。"I've been meaning to pick Dream Animals up since I first saw its lovely cover, and I am glad I finally have! The rhymed text offers a gentle, contemplative reading experience, while the gorgeous artwork captures the enchantment of dreams, in all their many forms。 My favorite dream journey (naturally), involved the red fox escorting a young girl to her fairy dance。 I understand that Emily Winfield Martin first gained notice selling her artwork on Etsy, and had built up a loyal following before publishing this, her first children's book。 I wasn't familiar with her work before encountering this picture-book, but I will certainly be seeking out more of it。 Recommended to anyone looking for good bedtime books for young fairy-tale lovers, and to anyone who enjoys beautiful picture-books。 。。。more

Mimi。Y,
This is so cute book about the funny friends and doll a child sleep with during bedtime。 It would be awesome if they furry friend or doll lead the dreamer to their dreams that are too far to run and sleepy feet, too slow。
Blake Williams,
I loved the pictures and the rhyming! Dreams have endless possibilities!
Juushika,
A pleasure! Twee, absolutely, and I can't vouch for (nor do I honestly care about) "actually helps kids sleep"--but playful, fantastic, with lush art; I can get behind this sort of fantasy idealization of a dreamland which largely reads like a loveletter to children's and MG literature。 I'm glad I read this in print instead of digitally; the glossy prints are gorgeous。 A pleasure!
