Summary

Older women often feel invisible, but sometimes that's their secret weapon。

They've spent their lives as the deadliest assassins in a clandestine international organization, but now that they're sixty years old, four women friends can't just retire - it's kill or be killed in this action-packed thriller。

Billie, Mary Alice, Helen, and Natalie have worked for the Museum, an elite network of assassins, for forty years。 Now their talents are considered old-school and no one appreciates what they have to offer in an age that relies more on technology than people skills。

When the foursome is sent on an all-expenses paid vacation to mark their retirement, they are targeted by one of their own。 Only the Board, the top-level members of the Museum, can order the termination of field agents, and the women realize they've been marked for death。

Now to get out alive they have to turn against their own organization, relying on experience and each other to get the job done, knowing that working together is the secret to their survival。 They're about to teach the Board what it really means to be a woman--and a killer--of a certain age。

An assassin squad of four females at retirement age- what a fun premise! And the book didn’t disappoint! Highly entertaining and clever…I’d love to read another book by this author!

I got this as a book of the month, even though it’s outside the type of book I normally read, and I’m so glad I did! This story felt like I was watching a movie that you would cast Helen Mirren in。 Action packed, but character centric, fast paced, and bad ass。 I loved getting to know the characters and really enjoyed the whole read。 Not once did I find myself bored or wishing it would hurry up。 The writing was engaging, and the flashbacks were done well! I don’t love a novel that relies too much on depictions of the past, so flashbacks are usually a touchy subject for me。 But these were quick, and most importantly, relevant to the story。 The only time we get a flashback is when we need to meet a new character, and tie in to how the ladies know them。 The only gripe I have with the story is that, despite the characters being 60, I feel like I was told they are old and then they were written like they are 35。 Other than the aches and pains of old age every now and then, and comments about being unnoticed because of their age, I felt like these women did not mentally seem elderly。 Maybe it’s my own personal bias because I myself am younger, but I feel like the characters didn’t read as if they’re in their sixties。 Other than that, I have no complaints。I chose this as a quick read to be a palate cleanser right after a dense fantasy book, and it was fun and served the exact purpose I had hoped。 If you’re looking for a quick, engaging read with a satisfying ending, you’ve found it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 。。。more

I was attracted to the idea of post-menopausal hired assasins, but the plot was meh。

Not what I was expecting, but very good! I was expecting a Thursday Murder Club type book。 This book was unique and entertaining。 Highly recommend!

A witty, well thought out story about 4 women who are retiring but find they have unfinished business with the organization they worked for for 40 years。 How would you like to retire and then discover your company is trying to kill you?I loved how much we got to know each character and their background。 But I felt the ending was a little too easy。 This is a feel-good assassin story but is not a thriller by any means。 I found myself rolling my eyes over the last few chapters

Loved the characters in this book, and the stories of past world history。 Compelling and a great book reminding us that women of an older age still have it together!! Enjoyable and hope to read more of her books!

Killers is a romp—a rather bloodthirsty romp, yes, but definitely fun。 The “action sequences,” for lack of a better term, are beautifully legible and thrilling, and the characters are fleshed out enough to give the stakes meaning and shape without bogging anything down。 It’s a brisk, satisfying read that makes assassination look a smashing great time。

Great book。

Fun! Nicely paced with an accelerating ending that was quite satisfying。 Casting the film would make a good cocktail game。

Killers of a Certain Age is so different from what I normally read but after binge watching Killing Eve, I had to take a chance on this and I'm so glad I did。 Four of the best assassins are retiring, only to find out that there is a bounty on each of their heads。 People underestimate these women simply because they're in their 60's but they are still badass and ready to fight back。 I loved the direction of the story, and the flash backs were a great addition to how they're friendship began and b Killers of a Certain Age is so different from what I normally read but after binge watching Killing Eve, I had to take a chance on this and I'm so glad I did。 Four of the best assassins are retiring, only to find out that there is a bounty on each of their heads。 People underestimate these women simply because they're in their 60's but they are still badass and ready to fight back。 I loved the direction of the story, and the flash backs were a great addition to how they're friendship began and blossomed。 It felt as a slow burn and at times I had to push myself through because I truly wanted to get to the action parts and see them kick ass。 The cover did draw me in, but it was also my Book of the Month choice。 I highly recommend it! 。。。more

Enjoyable read, especially if you appreciate women of a certain age。

This was a really exciting read right from the start。 Great characters and lots of suspense and action。 The main outline of the story isn't very original, it follows a well used formula but one that is so popular because it works。 A group of assassins who are then betrayed by the organisation they work for, they have to be one step ahead as they try to work out who double crossed them。 But it is very well written and I love the different angle of them all being retirement aged lady assassins。 Th This was a really exciting read right from the start。 Great characters and lots of suspense and action。 The main outline of the story isn't very original, it follows a well used formula but one that is so popular because it works。 A group of assassins who are then betrayed by the organisation they work for, they have to be one step ahead as they try to work out who double crossed them。 But it is very well written and I love the different angle of them all being retirement aged lady assassins。 They weren't portrayed as anything other than super professional, strong and tough, which was really refreshing。It was a super fun read and I would absolutely love for there to be a whole series based on the missions they went on during their career。 。。。more

Such a fun novel featuring a very unique spin on the hired assassin story。 In this book our killers-for-hire are an all-female group of four women who spend decades in a top-secret organization dedicated to eliminating the worst of the worst。 Quick pacing with entertaining characters make this quite an enjoyable read!

It was fine。 If i had to recommend an action packed novel I would say Razorblade Tears over this one。 It’s a quick read but not super engaging。 And the twist was very lackluster in my mind。

Liz Davis

Enjoyable, strong lead female characters, unexpected twists, humor, and more! This was a fun, quick read that kept me engaged。 It is more than the description, which is refreshing。 I would recommend it though it might be a little violent for some。

If you’re interested in some old, bada** broad that like to kick butt then this is a book for you! We meet a group of 4 young assassins who devote 40 years of their lives to the work they do。 Well 40 years later it’s time to retire and another mission may be on the horizon。 At the ripe age of 60 this broads are up for the challenge。

I’m here for it。 Complete story, but I feel like the ending just needed a little bit more。Good writing, kept me engaged。 Multiple flashbacks that added background- worked in relationships from the past and character’s skill set。 Not too hard to follow。

Many times, I will hear about a book I might be interested in and get all excited, only to be let down when I actually read it。 So I went into this one prepared to be disappointed。 Surprise! I thought it was great。 Fun, fast paced, engaging characters, and what I would call a “cracking good read。” I chewed through it in just a couple of days。Here is my only quibble。 Speaking from experience, 60 is really not that old! I get why other characters might underestimate these ladies, but it kind of annoyed me that the four main characters thought about themselves and each other as “old ladies” and referred to themselves as such。 I suppose in their line of work, they would be considered decrepit。 But still… It got beaten into the ground enough times that it became irritating。 。。。more
