Wonderful, meditative book。 Lots to think about and process。 I’ll read again。 I also love to listen to the audiobook read by the author, very peaceful voice。

It was an interesting book。 I read this more as a study of new age spirituality and Mindfulness than life application, so I may not be the best person to review the book。 The other dis qualifier is that I was coming at it from a Christian perspective。 For me the practical value in this book is what it exposes about the nature of the unconscious mind。 The author refers to one who is "awakened" as one who has come to the realization that all of the thoughts that barrage us on a daily basis, are pr It was an interesting book。 I read this more as a study of new age spirituality and Mindfulness than life application, so I may not be the best person to review the book。 The other dis qualifier is that I was coming at it from a Christian perspective。 For me the practical value in this book is what it exposes about the nature of the unconscious mind。 The author refers to one who is "awakened" as one who has come to the realization that all of the thoughts that barrage us on a daily basis, are programmed by past experience, and have their origin in the unconscious mind。 He talked about his experience during a deep depression where he was awoken in the night and thought to himself that he couldn't live with himself anymore。 This lead him to draw a distinction between the self who he couldn't live with and the one who was observing the one he couldn't live with。 I drew some interesting distinctions between this story and practical takeaways from Freud's iceberg theory。 This is exactly the revelation that many clients of helping professionals have when they realize they aren't how they feel, and they aren't those dreadful thought coming at them all day。 I took issue with many of his interpretations of Jesus words, but I have always maintained that in the Westernizing of Christianity we lost a lot of value provided by an Eastern perspective。 I guess it provided some value for me there as well。 The book was very well articulated。 。。。more

I love this book with my whole heart - I think everyone should read it。 It puts spiritual experiences into words beautifully, with some very quotable moments and meaningful insight。 Genuinely, if you haven't picked up this book yet, you won't regret doing so。 However, a word of warning: it's 2021 right now, and I think this book should be edited for sensitivity in some areas, because while it offers some great wisdom, it also spreads some harmful misconceptions。 There are a few examples here and I love this book with my whole heart - I think everyone should read it。 It puts spiritual experiences into words beautifully, with some very quotable moments and meaningful insight。 Genuinely, if you haven't picked up this book yet, you won't regret doing so。 However, a word of warning: it's 2021 right now, and I think this book should be edited for sensitivity in some areas, because while it offers some great wisdom, it also spreads some harmful misconceptions。 There are a few examples here and there that are a bit problematic - for example, ADHD is not some kind of karmic punishment for watching too much television, and there is far more to it than a short attention span。 It isn't more common nowadays, it is simply being recognised and diagnosed more。 Likewise, mental health issues should not be taken lightly, and I feel the book could stand to be polished up a bit in that respect。 Having said that, please don't be put off reading it! It's truly fantastic, and you'll thank yourself for picking it up - these problematic aspects are just paragraphs here and there, but it's worth being aware of。 。。。more

Life changing!

It's not as life changing as I expected, but that's my fault for getting hyped by other people telling me to read it。 I'm a little disheartened by some of his ideas。 He spends the whole book implying that we should separate ourselves from our physical bodies as much as possible。 I disagree with that wholeheartedly。 When I was younger, I was awkward, unhappy, and obsessed with these kinds of philosophical ideas, so I practiced disconnecting pretty much all the time。 I wouldn't recommend it。 The p It's not as life changing as I expected, but that's my fault for getting hyped by other people telling me to read it。 I'm a little disheartened by some of his ideas。 He spends the whole book implying that we should separate ourselves from our physical bodies as much as possible。 I disagree with that wholeheartedly。 When I was younger, I was awkward, unhappy, and obsessed with these kinds of philosophical ideas, so I practiced disconnecting pretty much all the time。 I wouldn't recommend it。 The problem is that it is impossible to separate yourself from the bad without also separating yourself from the good。 I was already socially awkward but ended up getting worse。 I also lost a lot of my empathy and ability to form relationships because those are skills you learn through interacting with and genuinely caring about other people。 It took a while to get back to a good place。 You could argue that I just went overboard, but I did exactly what this book is telling you to do。I'm not a religious person and I don't necessarily think we were born as humans for a reason。 But that doesn't mean you should just give up your personhood and live as a disembodied consciousness。 You're a body and a mind。 There's a middle ground that we should shoot for。 Believing that there's a separate consciousness in you does not mean you should ignore the wants and needs of your body, and attaching yourself to the people around you is not a bad thing。 It doesn't mean you're weak or dependent。 I used to admire people who became hermits and achieved enlightenment。 That was my dream for my future。 As I've gotten older, I can't find it in me to admire people with zero connections to the world。 I would hate to be their former friend or family。 There's nothing wrong with loving people and caring whether or not they're alive。 (I know the book doesn't explicitly state that you should just move on when people die, but that's because it's very careful not to。 It does, however, strongly imply it。) As Kahlil Gibran said: "The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain。" I would much rather live an unpredictable and painful life than to just coast through while feeling nothing。 All of that being said, if the subject matter is new to you, I would still recommend A New Earth。 Just read it critically and don't take everything to heart right away。 。。。more

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose gives me a new perspective on life。 Peaceful, still life is hard to achieve in current society, but this book makes me feel better about what I have got。 A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose gives me a new perspective on life。 Peaceful, still life is hard to achieve in current society, but this book makes me feel better about what I have got。 。。。more

I listened to the audiobook but I’m going to have to read it again in print。 I have felt so much of this in my experience, but it’s difficult to correlate it to Christian teaching/language。 I really appreciated the connections the author made to Jesus’s teachings。 I’m glad I read this book and will be reading his other work as well。

This wasn’t the book I was expecting to read。 However, what a pleasant surprise it was。 A blueprint for a new life? An inspiring glimpse at how to enjoy being and drown out the negativity。 I took some notes on key issues I want to incorporate into my thinking。 At times, I did zone out and I feel this is a book I need to revisit in a few months time。 Like a wise old person that I need reassurance from。

I couldn’t get through this book。 I really enjoyed the Power of Now, but this was really hard to read。 I may be out of touch with his writing style, but I struggled with the longer chapters and tiny subsections that I couldn’t really connect and make sense of in my mind。 I appreciate what he is saying I think this just wasn’t my favorite book of his。

Redefining the meaning of purpose and living

I think that: Existence is one。 The view is always from a point。 Reality is the perception of existence。 Consciousness is -by taking reality for existence (which is by missing out the viewpoint)- the perception of reality。 He insists that there is a way for the perciver of reality to percive existence and if we all do it, the things that he considers to be bad, will go away。

Incredible book。 Everyone should read this。 Eye-opening in a number of ways。

Sir Eckhart Tolle knew about New Earth before any of us did, it seems。 What a transformational gem!

Great perspective on life and re-Centering。 Tolle has a lot of great things to say but the writing could be a bit more captivating。

لا يليق بهذا الكتاب وصفه بكلمات، أنه أسمى من أن يوصف。

I think the book is a must read。 I only gave it 4 stars, because it was a bit repetitive in the end

This book can change your life。 One shouldn't read it in order to accomplish some goals or striving for enlightenment but rather to find inner peace inside oneself。 This is not one of that silly self-help books, where all you have to do is to follow some general advice。 You can start the book from any paragraph and read in in your own pace when you feel like it。 If it touch your heart, you would refer to it to it over and over。 This book can change your life。 One shouldn't read it in order to accomplish some goals or striving for enlightenment but rather to find inner peace inside oneself。 This is not one of that silly self-help books, where all you have to do is to follow some general advice。 You can start the book from any paragraph and read in in your own pace when you feel like it。 If it touch your heart, you would refer to it to it over and over。 。。。more
