This book cracked me open in a beautiful and sad way。

Silentstarlight

Another book about unlikable people living, loving, and working in NYC。 This story could start some arguments in a book club meeting。

I wanted to like this book。 It had all the elements of a book that I normally like。 I wanted to like Lucy and Gabe。 But there are too many buts to even start。 I didn’t like Darren, until the end。 So if you like books with self absorbed characters who make stupid choices, then this is the book for you。

One of the hardest books to rate。 It made me feel so many different emotions。 I felt everything that Lucy felt and felt so conflicted。 I also felt Gabes need to want more out of life。 The ending left me feeling confused and wanting more。 I can already tell this story is going to stay with me for a while and I’m not sure I want it to。

Maggie Johnson

Read this book in a matter of days。 A good reads review said it was “emotionally gutting”。 Could not be more accurate。 The end had me nauseous。I couldn’t put it down, even read it at work。 Amazing, emotional, raw, read。

Rachel

amazing and heart wrenching Relatable for all types of love in life, the good and great and the hardest to forget and move on from。 Beautiful novel。

Maybe 3。5 。。。 not a good start and I really didnt start caring about the main character til over 1/2 through。 The ending got interesting though。

Michaela

Spent too long teasing the question why is Lucy talking to Gabe now。 I lost interest in what the current day scenario is。

4。5🌟’sIt’s no surprise why this one was selected as a New York Times Bestseller and @reesesbookclub pick!I devoured this one, engrossed in the story line, yet not ready for the book to end。 I really enjoyed how the book’s pacing and how the story was narrated in second-person as though it were almost a letter or diary from the main character Lucy to Gabe。 The love story begins in NYC on 9/11 with Lucy and Gabe meeting one another in class a Columbia, and sharing the eventful day together。 Their 4。5🌟’sIt’s no surprise why this one was selected as a New York Times Bestseller and @reesesbookclub pick!I devoured this one, engrossed in the story line, yet not ready for the book to end。 I really enjoyed how the book’s pacing and how the story was narrated in second-person as though it were almost a letter or diary from the main character Lucy to Gabe。 The love story begins in NYC on 9/11 with Lucy and Gabe meeting one another in class a Columbia, and sharing the eventful day together。 Their relationship quickly develops into lovers until the two face a crossroads— putting their relationship or career first。 The story does a great job of illustrating young adulthood of characters in their early 20s into their 30s。 When Gabe follows his dreams and accepts a job abroad as a photographer for the Associated Press, Lucy is left helpless and alone to wonder what their relationship could have been。 Heartbroken, she grieves the loss of her relationship until she eventually meets Darren。 With time, Lucy begins falling for Darren, but at the same time points out all his flaws and compares him to her ex-lover Gabe。 Meanwhile, Lucy and Gabe continue a long-distant friendship over the course of a decade via email。 While the storyline was at times predictable, and sometimes I was annoyed by Lucy’s self-entitlement, overall I really enjoyed this one and read it mostly in a day。 I couldn’t put it down and was captured by the story。 。。。more

It reminds me so much of it ends with us for some reason but I feel like it ends with us was better。 I still really liked the book though it was a whirlwind of emotions。

Sadia

I found the story somewhat disturbing, and the narrator annoying。 I was not moved by the story。 It felt like it was about a conflict of egos。 There were things that I felt that resonated with me as a mother, but the writing was bland, the story banal and the narrative itself so easy to predict。 The ending was horrible。

Jodee Sanny

Easy read, great love story, wraps up well。

Ginny Brown

A great romantic read。 Couldn’t put this book down!

Emma Watson

I truly give this book an EASY 5 stars。 I was instantly captivated by the storyline and the love story between Lucy and Gabe。 I consider myself a slow reader。。。 but I couldn’t put this book down。 I finished it in one day。 Huge thing for me!! I HIGHLY recommend this book。 It will pull on your heart strings。

Peggy

It’s hard to like a book when you don’t agree with the choices the characters make but it’s a novel so anything goes。 This book held my interest。 I loved that she wrote the book as if Luck was talking to her Ex。

Lacey

Leah

Page turning to the very end to find out what secrets, future entails, and lives of these two characters。

Anne

This was beautifully written but my biggest takeaway was that both of the men in Lucy’s life kind of sucked? But Darren sucked less than Gabe and I really never saw Gabe’s allure。

Deedee

This is a quick beach read but it is also sad and poignant as college friends become lovers but ultimately go their own ways because each wants something else from life。 Yet they stay in touch and never lose their connection although one marries and has children while the other globe hops as a news photographer。

Bianca Carmona

I love 。。LOVEGreat book! Cried at the end 。。。 To feel such love and longing to connect。 It is a must read book。 Won't disappoint。 I love 。。LOVEGreat book! Cried at the end 。。。 To feel such love and longing to connect。 It is a must read book。 Won't disappoint。 。。。more

I read this book as part of a book club。 I was a little concerned as it is not my usual genre and even in the first few chapters, I was thinking, "Maybe this was a mistake", but after a few more chapters, I found that I couldn't put the book down。 I read the entire thing in less than a span of 12 hours。It's definitely an easy, light read, and I really enjoyed it。 Of course, the ending messed me up 😂 but I think I saw it coming。 I wish it were just a bit longer。 I read this book as part of a book club。 I was a little concerned as it is not my usual genre and even in the first few chapters, I was thinking, "Maybe this was a mistake", but after a few more chapters, I found that I couldn't put the book down。 I read the entire thing in less than a span of 12 hours。It's definitely an easy, light read, and I really enjoyed it。 Of course, the ending messed me up 😂 but I think I saw it coming。 I wish it were just a bit longer。 。。。more
