Summary

The epic finale of the New York Times bestselling sequel series to Fablehaven from author Brandon Mull。

The magical world teeters on the brink of collapse。 The Dragon King, Celebrant, has united the dragons into a vengeful army, and only a final artifact stands in the way of them unleashing their fury against humankind。 With established allegiances shifting under the strain, Seth and Kendra find themselves in desperate need of new allies。

Seth must face his most dangerous quest—the fulfillment of his pledge to the Singing Sisters。 With only Calvin the Tiny Hero at his side, Seth needs to collect the pieces of the Ethergem, including the stones from the crowns of the Dragon King, the Giant Queen, and the Demon King。

Halfway across the world, Kendra finds herself torn between her duty to Dragonwatch and her desire to rescue Bracken。 Can she challenge Ronodin’s control of the fairy realm without leaving the five legendary dragon slayers to be hunted by Celebrant and his sons?

Left behind at Titan Valley, Knox and Tess must survive the aftermath of the Giant Queen’s fall。 Will the secret crown in Knox’s possession prove too much for him to handle?

And the series finishes, and the crowd goes wild! This was some good stuff that has been helping me get through a rough time in my life。 I so appreciate having good books and 85% dark chocolate to turn to, to wind down my day。 Having these books to look forward to has been fun。 Thank you Mr。 Mull!

I’m satisfied with the way the series ended — that being said Knox is the most aggravating character ever and unfortunately he doesn’t change and is in all five books。

almost 5 stars, the past few books in this series haven't been very good, but this finale is much better。 enjoyed the musings on the nature of forgiveness where thematic things in the rest of these books have been somewhat lacking (given some slack, it is for children)。 really picked up towards the end and wrapped things up well (bracken and kendra's kiss was very satisfying) almost 5 stars, the past few books in this series haven't been very good, but this finale is much better。 enjoyed the musings on the nature of forgiveness where thematic things in the rest of these books have been somewhat lacking (given some slack, it is for children)。 really picked up towards the end and wrapped things up well (bracken and kendra's kiss was very satisfying) 。。。more

I loved the Dragonwatch series。 It was more serious and perilous than the Fablehaven series。 Seth is my favorite character and his journey is filled with so many mistakes。 It was painful reading how he made the wrong choice over and over again。 Reminds me of myself。 Yet, Seth strives for redemption。 This is the powerful core of the story。 Brandon Mull did a wonderful job of tying up lose strings but I think Seth and the Sphinx still need to clear the air。 I hope there will be a Patton adventure I loved the Dragonwatch series。 It was more serious and perilous than the Fablehaven series。 Seth is my favorite character and his journey is filled with so many mistakes。 It was painful reading how he made the wrong choice over and over again。 Reminds me of myself。 Yet, Seth strives for redemption。 This is the powerful core of the story。 Brandon Mull did a wonderful job of tying up lose strings but I think Seth and the Sphinx still need to clear the air。 I hope there will be a Patton adventure in the future! 。。。more

Let's use a teleportation device。 An unbreakable dome needs to be broken? Let's use a sword that cuts through anything。 However, the story flows nicely and the settings are interesting。 This time it's mostly about Seth and Kendra instead of trying to keep up with large groups of people。 For example, their grandparents are trapped in Blackwell Keep and are not considered almost at all。 It's works。 The main characters grow, and face some interesting dilemma。 "Nobody in need of forgiveness deserves it," Konrad said。 "Not one person。 We all make foolish mistakes that we cannot fix。 Though we may not deserve forgiveness, we all have a right to it。 Just for having the courage to live in this difficult world, where fallible people do imperfect things。 The supply of forgiveness is unlimited。""The name of the Unforgiving Blade is no accident," the Alderfairy said。 "Some wounds close only with forgiveness。" In summary: an uptempo, straightforward, and childish fantasy in an interesting world of magic。 Humorous and at times violent。 Recommended to 12-14 years old interested in fantasy。 。。。more

The best of them all。 The whole journey, all of the characters and overall the whole plot were great。 Truly worthy of being a finale of the series。

Endings are really hard, and with, I'm sure, an unimaginable cadre of assistance and an incredible, intense focus and mastery of his craft, Brandon Mull has done it again。I'm pretty bummed at the notion that this might be the actual, for real last in the series。 At the start of this pentology, picking up from where Fablehaven left us (view spoiler)[(contemplating the corpses of demon gods) (hide spoiler)], the story took a not-so-underhanded series of moves to nerf the protagonists。 Left as they Endings are really hard, and with, I'm sure, an unimaginable cadre of assistance and an incredible, intense focus and mastery of his craft, Brandon Mull has done it again。I'm pretty bummed at the notion that this might be the actual, for real last in the series。 At the start of this pentology, picking up from where Fablehaven left us (view spoiler)[(contemplating the corpses of demon gods) (hide spoiler)], the story took a not-so-underhanded series of moves to nerf the protagonists。 Left as they are at the end of this one, I would like little more than to see what kinds of justices and acts our heroes could accomplish now。 I feel plenty of seeds were planted, should we seek to return to this world, and Mull seems better than the "happily ever after" type。 What is to become of Stratos? What of the restored kingdoms of the Fair Folk? What of the now-crownless domains of dragon, giant, and demonkind? Is divinity or a crown all that defines Royalty? It feels like, with characters on a whole new power scale, these could be interesting questions。 I admire Mull's worldbuilding and restraint in not feeling he had to show us every preserve mentioned, but it would be nice to see something of Isla del Dragon, Polar Plains, Soaring Cliffs, et al。Still, this is a VERY deserved five stars; had I the opportunity to award more, this one would take it。 I can't overstate how insanely difficult it is to write a satisfying conclusion to one story。 Mull has done that ten times in one series, two of which were greater finales than themselves, and this one managed to plant new beginnings, wrap up a billion more, and leave more to be desired, all in one, 700ish-page swoop。Due to the *actual* apocalypse still abounding, Mull mentions that he hasn't been able to promote this one much。 I actually didn't hear about Dragonwatch until I went to reread Fablehaven for the nth time, which is understandably not a compulsion that every fan of his would feel。 My audience is small, but Fablehaven's is less so; if you liked that, or if you like any extremely well-developed fantasy, please read this series (and Fablehaven, ideally in order)。 It's decidedly less about dragons than the names would imply, but it is about a lot of very, very compelling things: light and dark, and what relevance that has on morality; the nature of immortality, and the absurdity of it in reference to the young or un-young; magic, and what it means; forgiveness and memory; siblinghood and kingship。。。 I guess all of that makes it sound kind of sappy and saccharine, but there is plenty-- PLENTY-- of action and magic and complication to keep you going well past the end。 Read。 This。 Book。(view spoiler)[And there's nothing like a cannonball into the water of the heavens to save the day, and all the world's tortured souls。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

Exciting conclusion to the series。 Seth and Kendra stepped it up, overcoming even more obstacles than normal。 Especially loved what Seth had to overcome to help them defeat the dragons。

I’m basically speechless。 I LOVE Fablehaven and Dragonwatch was an excellent addition into that world。 I loved seeing all the character development, especially with Seth, though I was sad a few specific characters weren’t in it as much, but it wasn’t their story anymore。 But I’m literally blown away。 This series was amazing and it was an incredible ending that I will not forget anytime soon。

3。5 stars。I felt a bit sad/bereft realizing this was the last in the Fablehaven/Dragonwatch books。 I was a bit late to the game, only discovering Fablehaven in 2015--but it meant I could easily binge the entire series before moving on to Dragonwatch。This was a pretty decent finale ,and by and large wrapped up storylines and character arcs well。 I'll agree with another reviewer that one arc in particular was entirely rushed (which was unfortunate; with the book clocking in at 600+ pages, there wa 3。5 stars。I felt a bit sad/bereft realizing this was the last in the Fablehaven/Dragonwatch books。 I was a bit late to the game, only discovering Fablehaven in 2015--but it meant I could easily binge the entire series before moving on to Dragonwatch。This was a pretty decent finale ,and by and large wrapped up storylines and character arcs well。 I'll agree with another reviewer that one arc in particular was entirely rushed (which was unfortunate; with the book clocking in at 600+ pages, there was really no reason this couldn't have been fleshed out more)。 The book also heavily emphasized one character in particular--which is all well and good, except for when it's not, lol。 Meant this character got exponentially more attention compared to the others--unfortunate in a series finale。I was also a bit surprised that as much of Mull's Mormon faith came into it--again, especially compared with the other books in both Fablehaven and Dragonwatch。 I didn't pick up on it at all in the other books, then this one was just _bam_! Everywhere one turns。 Surprising in light of the other books。 (But, I'm mainly grateful that while I'm not Mormon myself, I can generally trust it makes for a clean book romantically。) 。。。more
