I loved the interactions and banter between them, and also I was living for all the Taylor Swift references。 I seriously cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who likes YA Romance! It was such a cute, quick read。 I literally wanted to reread as soon as I finished my initial reading! 。。。more

This book absolutely has my heart in its pages。 I freaking loved it and I can’t wait to see when other people are finally able to read it as well。 This plot follows our MC Emilie who loves Valentine‘a Day but has the worst one and is trapped in a loop。 She decides that she will live a day of no consequences and when I tell you that I lived for that I really mf did。 And our beloved Nick (or Jesse Mariano whichever one you decide 😗) he is so beautiful omg I wish I could tell y’all how amazing he i This book absolutely has my heart in its pages。 I freaking loved it and I can’t wait to see when other people are finally able to read it as well。 This plot follows our MC Emilie who loves Valentine‘a Day but has the worst one and is trapped in a loop。 She decides that she will live a day of no consequences and when I tell you that I lived for that I really mf did。 And our beloved Nick (or Jesse Mariano whichever one you decide 😗) he is so beautiful omg I wish I could tell y’all how amazing he is 😭👍🏽 but I swear the wait is worth it。 He went along with everything Emilie needed and wanted that I first thought he was also trapped in a loop but my man was just smitten by her。I wish I could forget all of its words so I could read it again, the book really takes your imagination places because it is so descriptive and I really love that<3I’m so glad that I got the opportunity to read this book。 Thank you Simon and Schuster's Children Publishing / Simon& Schuster Books for Young Readers for sharing this amazing copy with me in exchange of an honest review! 。。。more

The Do Over by Lynn Painter ✨This is such a cute, sweet, and funny YA rom com。 It was a repeated cycle of laughing out loud and saying “awww”。 Something that I noticed is that the author does is use Taylor Swift lyrics as sentences throughout the book, which is pretty iconic。 bookish things:🤍chapter titles are confessions 🤍time loop🤍playlist at the end 🤍blended family dynamics + grief rep

This book has:- A time loop (that has you cheering on Emilie。 She is a total BAD A**)- enemies-to-lovers - Day of No Consequences (DONC!) - Taylor Swift references and tattoos! - The BEST sarcastic flirting / banter - And a KISS that literally melts your heart (and the build-up is WORTH IT!)Emilie is the typical happy/sunshiny girl and Nick is the classic broody/surly boy。 Like 100% getting Jess Mariano and Rory Gilmore vibes。 I can't say enough good things about this one! I can't wait to get my hands on this in November! Literally ∞ / 5★ 。。。more

I’m going to be totally upfront and say that I’m a 30-something-year-old mom。 I have responsibilities to attend and humans to keep alive and THINGS TO DO。 So when I tell you I dropped absolutely EVERYTHING the very second ARC showed up on my doorstep (thank you forever and always, Simon & Schuster!) and read it in one sitting, you have to know that that MEANS something。 I am rarely given the luxury of peace and quiet to get lost in a book for an extended period of time, but I made it happen for I’m going to be totally upfront and say that I’m a 30-something-year-old mom。 I have responsibilities to attend and humans to keep alive and THINGS TO DO。 So when I tell you I dropped absolutely EVERYTHING the very second ARC showed up on my doorstep (thank you forever and always, Simon & Schuster!) and read it in one sitting, you have to know that that MEANS something。 I am rarely given the luxury of peace and quiet to get lost in a book for an extended period of time, but I made it happen for The Do-Over。You probably fell in love with Lynn Painter’s writing when you first read her debut novel, Better than the Movies。 You probably also think very few things on this planet can compare to BTTM。 But somehow, Lynn struck gold again with The Do-Over。 Truly, she has to have made some kind of crossroads deal to continue writing the sweetest, funniest, swooniest, coziest books。 That's literally the only explanation。Emilie is a Type A weirdo who gets stuck in a Valentine’s Day time loop and bumbles right through it over and over again。 Nick is the adorable, quiet kid who secretly has a soul full of snark。 There are so many moments Emilie has with other people that, yes, make you want to die of embarrassment。 And then there are the truly heartfelt, beautiful moments。 Both get forgotten by everyone but Emilie once VDay starts over again and again and again。 It’s heartbreaking to watch Emilie make such big personal progress, only to have it wiped away。 So when she decides, to hell with it all, she’ll do what she wants… it’s amazing。 I loved cheering for Emilie, and I loved watching her become friends with Nick again every day。 The Do-Over is a book full of both heart and heartache, balanced perfectly by Lynn’s trademark humor。 You absolutely should not miss out on this one!(Also, the city of Omaha should start paying Lynn some sort of tourism fee, because she makes the city sound like a magical freaking wonderland??????) 。。。more

Emilie is a bookish main character which is always a selling point for me。 She was so relatable in her love for books and reading。 The banter between her and Nick was superb。 It was so fun and flirty! This was like enemies to lovers-lite。 Emilie and Nick don’t hate each other at the beginning but they don’t exactly get along。 I was back and forth on Nick as a love interest。 I liked him but he came off as kind of too much of a jerk sometimes。 Even after learning his backstory that’s supposed to help us understand him more, I felt like he was rubbed me the wrong way。 I did like how everything came together in the end though and he and Emilie had some super cute moments!I loved all the references, from Taylor Swift to Christina Lauren。 I had Taylor Swift songs stuck in my head the whole time I was reading this。 This book was very much a romcom but also touched on some deeper topics like grief and complicated family dynamics。 I definitely appreciated this as it brought extra layers to the characters and their lives。 This was a great YA romance and I’ll definitely continue to pick up this author’s books in the future! 。。。more

This must be the universe offering her a chance at redemption! Come hell or high water, Emilie WILL have her perfect Valentine’s Day, DAMNIT! But it turns out this “gift” wasn’t an opportunity for her to right all her relationship wrongs。 It’s an opportunity for her to say “FUCK IT” and actually live for herself for once, even if it’s for a day。 And so begins the DONC - Day Of No Consequences! She’s spent so much of her life pleasing others to the point of detriment。 Surely she deserves one day to do what she wants? Turns out, what she wants is to (view spoiler)[steal her father’s car, dump her boyfriend over the intercom, and (hide spoiler)] skip school with resident broody boy, Nick Stark。 And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Read on to find out the shenanigans that ensue on the DONC。Our love interest, Nick Stark, starts out as an enigma。 We know just about as much as Emilie does, which isn’t a lot。 In fact, our first introduction to Nick is him pretending not to know Emilie at all (despite being lab partners all year)! But as we keep re-doing the same day, we learn different things about him and start to see him in a new light。 From the sarcastic loner, to a boy who reads romance novels, Nick is the gift that keeps on giving。This book was “Groundhog Day” meets “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” with a hearty dash of romance and I couldn’t be happier! I thoroughly enjoyed the story。 My one nitpick (and it’s small), is that I wish we saw or heard more from Roxane。 She was a fun addition to any page she was on, and it felt a tad unfair that we heard more from Chris。 Overall, 4。5! Highly recommend for a cute and quick romance read <3 。。。more

This is such a fun young adult follow up after Painter's previous book, Better than the Movies (one of my favorite reads of 2022!) The main character was obsessively likeable, from her fashion to her excellent taste in Taylor Swift tracks。 The Groundhogs Day plotline was weaved in so well - you never got lost in semantics。 Overall this is a really fun read! thank you so much Simon for this ARC!4。25 stars ✨I had a blast while reading this book。 This book follows Emilie as she really does Valentine’s Day over and over again, kind of like Groundhog Day the movie。 Now I absolutely love books that have the plot of repeating days, because I just love the self discovery that comes with that plot。 And this book did not miss, I absolutely loved every plot from every day and how it flows。 This was a bit different from the other books I read like this, becaus thank you so much Simon for this ARC!4。25 stars ✨I had a blast while reading this book。 This book follows Emilie as she really does Valentine’s Day over and over again, kind of like Groundhog Day the movie。 Now I absolutely love books that have the plot of repeating days, because I just love the self discovery that comes with that plot。 And this book did not miss, I absolutely loved every plot from every day and how it flows。 This was a bit different from the other books I read like this, because instead of the couple ending the cycle of repeated days together, Emilie was completely in this alone and had to read the consequences of her while this day。 I don’t think I’ve ever write a book where that took place, and it was very refreshing。 The side characters in this book were really likable, and the love interest Nick was everything a YA love interest needed to be。 Nick had his own skeletons in his closet, but went along with Emilie for the ride。 At first I thought he knew about the time loop and was in it with her, but it turns out he really just liked her so much that he went along with everything she had to say。 I really liked the day that they spent together and found out so much about one another。 Overall I just really loved the story! 。。。more

Y'all, I should make a shelf that has nothing but Groundhog Day derivatives because I adore media with this plot。 Each one spins it a little bit different, and I just cannot get enough。 This one takes place on Valentine's Day, and Emilie is having a heckuva day。 The main happenings are that she gets in a fender-bender, and she discovers her boyfriend is cheating。 Over the course of the day(s), she connects with Nick, a classmate she doesn't know well - at the beginning。 As the day(s) go, she sta Y'all, I should make a shelf that has nothing but Groundhog Day derivatives because I adore media with this plot。 Each one spins it a little bit different, and I just cannot get enough。 This one takes place on Valentine's Day, and Emilie is having a heckuva day。 The main happenings are that she gets in a fender-bender, and she discovers her boyfriend is cheating。 Over the course of the day(s), she connects with Nick, a classmate she doesn't know well - at the beginning。 As the day(s) go, she starts to form a friendship with Nick and starts to find ways to connect。 Emilie, of course, wonders what she needs to do to get out of the loop, but more importantly, she starts to consider what makes her happy。 Again, I just love how these stories build, and this was a great addition to the sub-genre。 Thanks to NetGalley for the early look at this November 2022 release! 。。。more
