Three stories in one that eventually tie together。 One involving a criminal n the run with a priceless art collection, another about the lives of various British police and judges trying to outwit terrorists。 The best one is a fictional plot involving Princess Diana。
David W。,
This is clearly the most compelling plot in the series as it reaches to the highest levels of the Crown to draw upon for an action packed finale。 Until the cliff hanger, that is。
Beryl Weller,
Yet another great read in this series from Lord Archer。 Such a great author。 So much going on in these books。 Never a dull moment and you always have to be on your toes to keep up。

I do like a Jeffery Archer saga and this one is of his best。 I wasn't sure at first whether it would be as good as the Clifton one but I think it meets the challenge。 William Warwick is back again and fighting crime and his nemesis again。 This time it is set around the time of Charles and Diana's marriage when she was beloved by so many。 The book is very enjoyable with lots of twists and subplots as to be expected from this author。 I do find some of the characters a bit pompous and unrelatable, I do like a Jeffery Archer saga and this one is of his best。 I wasn't sure at first whether it would be as good as the Clifton one but I think it meets the challenge。 William Warwick is back again and fighting crime and his nemesis again。 This time it is set around the time of Charles and Diana's marriage when she was beloved by so many。 The book is very enjoyable with lots of twists and subplots as to be expected from this author。 I do find some of the characters a bit pompous and unrelatable, particularly Sir Julian that's probably due to my working class background。I am looking forward to the next installment。Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for the ARC 。。。more

JA is such a talented novelist。 This is a great book: well researched, a twisting and clever plot and a brilliant, flowing writing style that keeps the reader engaged in the present whilst being intrigued as to what will happen next。 A truly satisfying and rich political novel。 With thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for the arc

This novel is the fifth book in the William Warwick series。 I like Warwick as a character, as this mix of hero and family man。 It is always a pleasure to read a new story featuring him。 In this instalment, he is still pursuing the Miles Faulkner storyline with a number of twists involving Miles's wife Christina and lawyer Booth Watson。 He also needs to investigate the Royal Protection team for fraud。 But Diana, Princess of Wales, makes an appearance as victim of a terrorist plot that almost cost This novel is the fifth book in the William Warwick series。 I like Warwick as a character, as this mix of hero and family man。 It is always a pleasure to read a new story featuring him。 In this instalment, he is still pursuing the Miles Faulkner storyline with a number of twists involving Miles's wife Christina and lawyer Booth Watson。 He also needs to investigate the Royal Protection team for fraud。 But Diana, Princess of Wales, makes an appearance as victim of a terrorist plot that almost costs her her life。 There is a lot going on!As all Jeffrey Archer's novels, this is a very entertaining story。 It is not my favorite of the series though。 I found that the multiple storylines made it difficult to follow and, for me, the end was a little abrupt。 I assume there is another instalment coming next and this one felt a bit like an in between episode。 。。。more

I've not read a Jeffrey Archer book for years, but having seen him speak at a recent event, I was curious to know if they were as addictive as they were when I started reading them over 40 years ago。 Next in Line is part of a series。 However, it worked fine as a stand-alone book, and I rushed through it, finishing it in a matter of days。 Twists and turns and a bounty of double-crossings come thick and fast。 I felt engaged with the characters, enjoyed the nostalgia of the timing, and it's a book I've not read a Jeffrey Archer book for years, but having seen him speak at a recent event, I was curious to know if they were as addictive as they were when I started reading them over 40 years ago。 Next in Line is part of a series。 However, it worked fine as a stand-alone book, and I rushed through it, finishing it in a matter of days。 Twists and turns and a bounty of double-crossings come thick and fast。 I felt engaged with the characters, enjoyed the nostalgia of the timing, and it's a book I'd describe as a proper romp。 It's not one that will stay with me for a long time, but it is highly entertaining, and sometimes that's all you want from a book。So the answer is yes, Archer still has it! 。。。more

Who is next in line to die? There is also a side mission concerning art thief Miles Faulkner and his dubious lawyer Booth Watson。 In the last book Warwick captured the escaped criminal but because he did so in a not necessarily "legal" manner he is under investigation。 I have to say the banter between these three and the clever resolution was just pure entertainment。The author was friends with Princess Diana and worked with her on charitable events。 I was moved to tears by the respect, kindness and fondness he gives her character in this work of fiction。 He opens the story with her visiting Scotland Yard demonstrating her humanity, humor, and humbleness。 It is a timely story though it takes place in 1988。 I can't wait for what is next in line for the formidable William Warwick。I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest review。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more
