I liked the book but I hate the way the artist draws women。 Also each album introduces a whole suite of new characters， settings， institutions etc which makes it a bit complicated to follow。

Gorgeous art！！ The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 was that it is so aggressively sexist。 I don’t think I’ve read anything in the last several years which depicts woman almost entirely as sexual objects （beautifully of course）。 They are so few women in general in this。 One would think that women make up less than 10% of the population。 That being said， everything is super well done。 Simply gorgeous （except for misogyny 🤬）。

One day I’ll write my memoirs。 I’ve lived through and seen so many incredible things that when people read it， they’ll think I just made it all up。 That so much evil could not possibly exist in this world。 I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up published as a detective novel。 I’m sure it would sell like hotcakes。 People are morbid。Tana picked this up for me in a local charity shop as she thought it would be up my street。 How right she was！Very reminiscent of Bryan Talbot's Grandville series， One day I’ll write my memoirs。 I’ve lived through and seen so many incredible things that when people read it， they’ll think I just made it all up。 That so much evil could not possibly exist in this world。 I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up published as a detective novel。 I’m sure it would sell like hotcakes。 People are morbid。Tana picked this up for me in a local charity shop as she thought it would be up my street。 How right she was！Very reminiscent of Bryan Talbot's Grandville series， this anthropomorphic mystery series is very much in the noir setting。Blacksad， our protagonist， is a gritty Private Detective who lives up to his feline appearance by seemingly having 9 lives。 Each of the three stories in this collected edition， will test him to his limits。 The three stories are Somewhere Within the Shadows， Arctic-Nation and Red Soul。 What I particularly liked is that the creators didn't draw animals as humans but considered the animal traits of the human characters and developed that into their animal form。 A thrilling read and I will be seeking out the other volumes of this series。 5 stars。 。。。more
