This story is great regardless of your age or reading abilities。 Jory John in his "The Bad Seed" series follows many food-related characters。 The term, 'cool beans' or 'cool bean' can be used in language to say something is interesting。 In the story it talks about a bean who used to be 'cool' but his friend group eventually separates and becomes disconnected。This story can show kids that our opinions don't mean everything, someone who may be 'too cool' can still be friendly and compassionate to This story is great regardless of your age or reading abilities。 Jory John in his "The Bad Seed" series follows many food-related characters。 The term, 'cool beans' or 'cool bean' can be used in language to say something is interesting。 In the story it talks about a bean who used to be 'cool' but his friend group eventually separates and becomes disconnected。This story can show kids that our opinions don't mean everything, someone who may be 'too cool' can still be friendly and compassionate to others。 Throughout school there is a lot of peer pressure to keep up with trends and to act certain 'cool' ways。 The main bean in the story buys sunglasses and wears certain shoes in an attempt to be perceived as a 'cool bean' too。 In reality everyone is just trying to figure out life。 Towards the end the main bean has multiple mishaps in which one of his old friends, one of the 'cool beans' helps him out。 He is surprised that his old friend is willing to help him out。 In the story it allows the reader to see the misconception of how we view others and how to see things for what they really are。 The main bean was able to rekindle his friendships and is able to be a 'cool bean' without pretending to be someone else。 In a classroom setting this story can be very fun to read aloud, the author is familiar with using alliteration, repetition, italics and bold to emphasize how the story will be read。 The story is very fun and children of any age can enjoy it。 The moral of the story is to not change who you are for anyone and to not give in to the pressures of being someone else。 。。。more

This book is an amazing and touching portrayal of what makes the cool beans cool and how you can be a cool bean yourself。 The little garbanzo bean is relatable! The message is clear: popularity is more than the clothes you wear and your swagger。 It is about your actions。 I love the playfulness and authenticity that comes with this books and there bean-tactic characters。 Do I think it is 100% in reality or the reality I remember school being? No。 The idea and introducing this concept to our kiddo This book is an amazing and touching portrayal of what makes the cool beans cool and how you can be a cool bean yourself。 The little garbanzo bean is relatable! No。 The idea and introducing this concept to our kiddos early is VERY important though- this is how change can and will come about。 I also loved all the bean puns and “rewrites” it was *chef’s kiss* perfect! 。。。more

It's About PerspectiveThis series is quite good。 Though I think it's mandatory the parent add their commentary otherwise the kids are going to take away the same message the main bean did in this story。Oh, in the second book of this series I failed to mention how much I loved how the artist used the soccer ball with a face from the Tom Hanks movie。 It's About PerspectiveThis series is quite good。 Though I think it's mandatory the parent add their commentary otherwise the kids are going to take away the same message the main bean did in this story。Oh, in the second book of this series I failed to mention how much I loved how the artist used the soccer ball with a face from the Tom Hanks movie。 。。。more

Cliques need not put others downGood thoughts around breaking down inferiority feelings and me vs them type of mentality。 Useful for helping unify cliques at school。 Speaks to appreciating differences and the idea that cliques do not put other groups down they are just natural and they don't need to be something that becomes competitive and egotistic。 Cliques need not put others downGood thoughts around breaking down inferiority feelings and me vs them type of mentality。 Useful for helping unify cliques at school。 Speaks to appreciating differences and the idea that cliques do not put other groups down they are just natural and they don't need to be something that becomes competitive and egotistic。 。。。more

I wasn't feeling it first but by the end I got drawn into it。But this feels like something teens worry about, not the target age group for this book。But what do I know?
