Summary

Tiffany Aliche was a successful pre-school teacher with a healthy nest egg when a recession and advice from a shady advisor put her out of a job and into a huge financial hole。 As she began to chart the path to her own financial rescue, the outline of her ten-step formula for attaining both financial security and peace of mind began to take shape。 These principles have now helped more than one million women worldwide save and pay off millions in debt, and begin planning for a richer life。

Revealing this practical ten-step process for the first time in its entirety, Get Good with Money introduces the powerful concept of building wealth through financial wholeness a realistic, achievable, and energizing alternative to get-rich-quick and over-complicated money management systems。 With helpful checklists, worksheets, a tool kit of resources, and advanced advice from experts who Tiffany herself relies on (her "Budgetnista Boosters"), Get Good with Money gets crystal clear on the short-term actions that lead to long-term goals, including:

- A simple technique to determine your baseline or "noodle budget," examine and systemize your expenses, and lay out a plan that allows you to say yes to your dreams。
- An assessment tool that helps you understand whether you have a "don't make enough" problem or a "spend too much" issue--as well as ways to fix both。
- Best practices for saving for a rainy day (aka job loss), a big-ticket item (a house, a trip, a car), and money that can be invested for your future。
- Detailed advice and action steps for taking charge of your credit score, maximizing bill-paying automation, savings and investing, and calculating your life, disability, and property insurance needs。
- Ways to protect your beneficiaries' future, and ensure that your financial wishes will stand the test of time。

I came in with low expectations because this sub genre is rife with nonsense but this is a good book。 It’s going to be more approachable and timely for young adults and people who found Dave Ramsey to be too MLM-y or dogmatic。 Aliche touches on personal experience before diving into her strategies that are shockingly well rounded for a “101” level book and ticks a lot of boxes that Ramsey leaves off。 Despite heading into the weeds of “grown-up finance”, she manages to do so without it being over I came in with low expectations because this sub genre is rife with nonsense but this is a good book。 It’s going to be more approachable and timely for young adults and people who found Dave Ramsey to be too MLM-y or dogmatic。 Aliche touches on personal experience before diving into her strategies that are shockingly well rounded for a “101” level book and ticks a lot of boxes that Ramsey leaves off。 Despite heading into the weeds of “grown-up finance”, she manages to do so without it being overwhelming。 。。。more

This is a MUST read!!! This book breaks down getting your money in order in a way that is easy to follow and actionable! Actually, really, really really really good。 This is the missing decade of individual finance course that should have been taught to everyone from 15 to 25 year olds by the American education system, and beyond, AND it is written in plain English! The financial concepts are good in this book, but I had a hard time connecting with Tiffany's reading。 Takeawaw:1。 I liked the noodlebudget。 I found this stress relieving, knowing if something bad happened, I would have a backup budget on the ready。 The financial concepts are good in this book, but I had a hard time connecting with Tiffany's reading。 Takeawaw:1。 I liked the noodlebudget。 I found this stress relieving, knowing if something bad happened, I would have a backup budget on the ready。 。。。more

This book was alright! I went into wanting some financial advice l, and came out with what I wanted, but only partially。 This book was more of a step by step guide as to how to do certain things。 Which for most people, is really good for their financial journey。 However for me, it was just like reading a lesson plan without following along。 Though, this was very informative。 I might come back to it again and try out the steps myself。 I might have a better rating for it then!

Really enjoyed this book a lot。 I follow her on social media so knew I liked her tone and how she approaches talking about finances。 I also appreciated the way the book levels up each chapter。 As someone who's read a lot of personal finance books at this point, I liked the progression and also the detailed to-dos in the book。 You can really treat it like a workbook and slowly work your way through her exercises。 Also, bonus for not getting to net worth until almost the end。 I've always felt star Really enjoyed this book a lot。 I follow her on social media so knew I liked her tone and how she approaches talking about finances。 I also appreciated the way the book levels up each chapter。 As someone who's read a lot of personal finance books at this point, I liked the progression and also the detailed to-dos in the book。 You can really treat it like a workbook and slowly work your way through her exercises。 Also, bonus for not getting to net worth until almost the end。 I've always felt starting there wasn't helpful for newbies and glad to see someone agrees! 。。。more

This is the best finance book I’ve ever read。 After reading this book I feel confident in how to budget, save, invest, retire, and manage my money now and for the rest of my life。 I’m now also confident on how to shop for health/auto/life/home/disability insurance。 This is one of the most valuable books I’ve ever read。 And the GGWM toolkit is free on her website 🥹 I will be forever grateful I got the opportunity to read this。

I highly recommend this book! Tiffany Aliche does an excellent job organizing the book and laying out a path to "becoming financially whole。" She gives the reader concrete steps and has such a positive voice cheering you on the whole time。 I can almost imagine her standing over my shoulder, celebrating my win as I automate my savings accounts。 If you're just getting started and know nothing more than you have a paycheck and need insurance, I recommend reading the following 3 books in this order: I highly recommend this book! - love her anecdotes & enthusiasm in teaching young women of color especially about personal finance - straight up just an interesting & engaging personality with a storytelling voice that is neither annoying nor naggy - kinda like the happy go lucky, successful older sister any young woman would want- wouldn’t give it a 5 tho bc the amount of rules she has for financial stability isn’t actionable besides a few like tracking variable and fixed expenses

I enjoy picking up a financial book every once in a while to give myself a refresh and see if I can take on any new perspectives。 This one is decently thorough and has a lot of positive reviews。 I feel like this is a great book for anyone in their early 20s who may not know a lot about financial planners, setting up a will, etc。 And doesn't have the time to Google everything。 Very much "adulting 101"。For me personally, nothing in the book was particularly new or super helpful。 Maybe I am just no I enjoy picking up a financial book every once in a while to give myself a refresh and see if I can take on any new perspectives。 This one is decently thorough and has a lot of positive reviews。 I feel like this is a great book for anyone in their early 20s who may not know a lot about financial planners, setting up a will, etc。 And doesn't have the time to Google everything。 Very much "adulting 101"。For me personally, nothing in the book was particularly new or super helpful。 Maybe I am just not the market for this one :P I would love to have more tips on dealing with finances through the roller coaster of surprises of the self employment life。 I also was surprised to read a book about money with zero mention of charitable donations。 。。。more

Get Good with Money was a beautifully written guide to personal finance equipped with all the resources, validation, and support you may need to unlearn, learn, or reinforce habits around financial wholeness。 I couldn't have asked for more to build my knowledge of money, debt, and growth。 It will be a guide that I revisit (often!) and recommend to others, especially 20-somethings like myself just trying to figure life out。 Most of the topics discussed were not new concepts to me。 However, this g Get Good with Money was a beautifully written guide to personal finance equipped with all the resources, validation, and support you may need to unlearn, learn, or reinforce habits around financial wholeness。 I couldn't have asked for more to build my knowledge of money, debt, and growth。 It will be a guide that I revisit (often!) and recommend to others, especially 20-somethings like myself just trying to figure life out。 Most of the topics discussed were not new concepts to me。 However, this guide allowed me to ask and reflect on Tiffany's initial question of what financial wholeness looks like to me and how I can be intentional in my actions to be that person。 With clear cut steps to addressing things like budgeting, paying debts, and investing, I feel prepared to create a multi-layered approach to being the person I want to be and preparing myself for the life I want my future self (my Wanda, still figuring out a name for my old lady) to enjoy。 It was also beneficial to have the appendix with all the resources she discussed。 I have already changed my finances by doing the activities and accessing her tools online。 5/5 stars are not enough to rate the value I know this book will have on my life, but it will do。 。。。more

This was so helpful! The beginning was pretty familiar stuff, but then she got into the nitty gritty of investing for wealth vs。 retirement, insurance, estate planning and I learned a lot easily and with not-that-long chapters。 Tiffany writes like a teacher and that is a high compliment。 :) I recommend!

I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did!
