Summary

I usually try to retain some sort of composure in expression, but I cannot willfully retain such adamant rage after such a preposterous read。 I am by no means versed in hermeticism, which follows is the negligence of a rant about how inaccurate this book is as pertaining to classical hermeticism per se。 Taken purely from an outsider's perspective, this reads more like an admittedly well-written caricature of a potentially speculative metaphysics。 On an elementary level, it strikingly resembles L I usually try to retain some sort of composure in expression, but I cannot willfully retain such adamant rage after such a preposterous read。 I am by no means versed in hermeticism, which follows is the negligence of a rant about how inaccurate this book is as pertaining to classical hermeticism per se。 Taken purely from an outsider's perspective, this reads more like an admittedly well-written caricature of a potentially speculative metaphysics。 On an elementary level, it strikingly resembles Leibniz's tour de force of a metaphysics, which does nothing but further reinforce the intense repulsion evoked, now that time i am never getting back。 。。。more

I've always been interested in the various occult ideas and philosophies that have sprung up throughout history and the reasoning behind them。 I also wanted to read this book to possibly get some inspiration for my own work。 And yeah - it's great for inspiration, but not much else。 I found the explanations about ''mental alchemy'' quite disappointing, though I couldn't take any of the ''truths'' from the Kybalion seriously anyway。 It's more that a certain degree of mystery surrounding the Hermet I've always been interested in the various occult ideas and philosophies that have sprung up throughout history and the reasoning behind them。 I also wanted to read this book to possibly get some inspiration for my own work。 And yeah - it's great for inspiration, but not much else。 I found the explanations about ''mental alchemy'' quite disappointing, though I couldn't take any of the ''truths'' from the Kybalion seriously anyway。 It's more that a certain degree of mystery surrounding the Hermetic Order made it more alluring (the Emerald Tablet, the transmutation of metals into gold), and when dispelled in such a way, it's not as interesting anymore。 I also feel like William Walker Atkinson hindered himself by trying to explain every aspect of hermetic philosophy as if it was factual, because when you're dealing with such abstract concepts as ''the All'', it's impossible to break it down logically。 As a result, a lot of the book is extremely repetitive and makes no sense。 I enjoyed however the last part - The Seven Cosmic Laws - since he included a lot of quotations and theories from historically important individuals and philosophical currents, such as Buddhism。 That I found informative enough。 。。。more

Great book to explain most natural phenomenon and states。 Most information I concur with for the exception of a few "scientific" items named in book, that could be debated today。 Great book to explain most natural phenomenon and states。 Most information I concur with for the exception of a few "scientific" items named in book, that could be debated today。 。。。more

Decent chunks of wisdom here and there kept me going through this。 Otherwise I found it very underwhelming。 I believe the seven hermetic principles are consistent with reality to most degrees but think they could have been touched on a lot better than what this book attempted。 Nonetheless, this is an essential primer for anyone intending on studying hermeticism so I wouldn’t not recommend it in that regard。

Mind blowing。 If you wanted to know about the ultimate origin of the Law of Attraction, this is your book。

I would always approach occultist literature cautiously - as a devout Christian reader anyway。 But this book is actually quite interesting and perfectly readable。 It's actually not nearly as dark or immoral as I thought it might be。 Quite the opposite, in fact。 It basically reads as a form of ancient pantheist philosophy, which treats the great religions of the world with a modicum of respect, albeit it from a distance。 Truth to be told, I found more to personally resonate with in this than I ha I would always approach occultist literature cautiously - as a devout Christian reader anyway。 But this book is actually quite interesting and perfectly readable。 It's actually not nearly as dark or immoral as I thought it might be。 Quite the opposite, in fact。 It basically reads as a form of ancient pantheist philosophy, which treats the great religions of the world with a modicum of respect, albeit it from a distance。 Truth to be told, I found more to personally resonate with in this than I have in any of the Buddhist, Taoist and Hindu books I've read。 It's only a short work, so it's worth having a look it if you feel so inclined。 。。。more

The universe is a mental creation of God, so the universe is mental。 Therefore, our mental thoughts/will can affect the universe, from altering our mood to having superpowers。 Overall, it is a mix of new age law of attraction with Theosophy。 Other books cover similar topics in a clearer way, without the framing device/ethos strategy of it being millennia-old wisdom from Hermes Trismagistus。

It's been a couple of years since I started to become interested in subjects I never thought I would care about。 First it was spirituality and then it was occultism。 It's funny that when you approach something that has been canonically demonised or described as "dark" you realise that it isn't dark at all and that it's actually some of the most useful knowledge you will ever come accross。 The occult is just the knowledge that hides behind all things, something like its shadow。 All organised reli It's been a couple of years since I started to become interested in subjects I never thought I would care about。 First it was spirituality and then it was occultism。 It's funny that when you approach something that has been canonically demonised or described as "dark" you realise that it isn't dark at all and that it's actually some of the most useful knowledge you will ever come accross。 The occult is just the knowledge that hides behind all things, something like its shadow。 All organised religions are based on occult principles that are hidden from the majority of the faithful。 The Kybalion explains this knowledge unknown to many and, despite not being a self-help book, it is most helpful than any of those。 In this book there is the information that has been retold and marketed by many authors throughout history。 This is totally a must-read。 It must be approached critically, like everything, but it definitely must be approached。 。。。more

Interesting book about the hermetic philosophy。 The first part of the books brings many philosophical thoughts while the second part of the book repeats itself a lot。

A great little book to get the creative juices of thinking to flow。 How much a person can perceive from the written attempts to explain philosophies is debatable。"The lips of Wisdom are closed, except to the ears of Understanding"Some things cannot be explained (or felt, or experienced。。) by using words。 There needs to be given and received some enlightenment。 A great little book to get the creative juices of thinking to flow。 How much a person can perceive from the written attempts to explain philosophies is debatable。"The lips of Wisdom are closed, except to the ears of Understanding"Some things cannot be explained (or felt, or experienced。。) by using words。 There needs to be given and received some enlightenment。 。。。more

The Kybalion is far more accessible than I and I suppose many others would expect。 It's a tight little tome that packs in a lot to think about regarding the nature of the divine, the human mind within our universe, and our relation to everything - seen and unseen - around us。I recommend waiting for this book to fall into your lap。 That is how I found it, and I have heard I am not the first。 The Kybalion is far more accessible than I and I suppose many others would expect。 It's a tight little tome that packs in a lot to think about regarding the nature of the divine, the human mind within our universe, and our relation to everything - seen and unseen - around us。I recommend waiting for this book to fall into your lap。 That is how I found it, and I have heard I am not the first。 。。。more

I think this is one of the greatest books ever written。 Everyone should know about the seven hermetic principles because it will change your life。 At least: if you're going to act on it! If you've been dancing around the topic of Hermetic philosophy, or wondering at what's going on inside of those "secret" societies, or perhaps trying to find that thing that ties together the similarities between the world's major religions。。。look no further。 The Kybalion is a brief summation of the ancient Hermetic ideas underlying pretty much everything。On another note。。。this book changed my life。 If you've been dancing around the topic of Hermetic philosophy, or wondering at what's going on inside of those "secret" societies, or perhaps trying to find that thing that ties together the similarities between the world's major religions。。。look no further。 The Kybalion is a brief summation of the ancient Hermetic ideas underlying pretty much everything。On another note。。。this book changed my life。 。。。more
