This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The book is cut a bit wrong and a lot of the text and images are cut off in the seams。 That said, it was nice seeing the bat family together。 Still not convinced about Punchline but we will see 。。。

When I read the first few chapters I was getting the terrible feeling of confusion and annoyance that I felt while reading the terrible "Dark Knight Metal" trades a couple of years ago。 If you want my reviews of those book they are listed in my Goodreads reading history list; even though looking back I think that I was too generous with my ratings。So, why give this book 4 out of 5 stars? Because as the story progresses the book pulls the plot together after the disjointed beginning chapters and things make a lot more sense with better cohesion within the individual chapters。 The plot of the Joker stealing Bruce Wayne's money and Waynetech Batman technology is far fetched, which is fine, because after all there needs to be some disbelieve in superhero comics to really enjoy them。 The plot of Batman not trusting and eventually counting on the Bat family for help has been done many times in other stories and some of them have been done better, but overall this is an enjoyable story。 I especially liked the appearance of supporting characters Spolier, Nightwing, Oracle, and Poison Ivy。 Also Punchline is a cool new addition to the Gotham City villians。Since this story appeared in different individual comic book titles the art varies a bit in quality, but as a whole is pretty good。 。。。more

Very uneven。。。 moments of brilliance。。。 solid 3。5 stars。。。 the best part is the lead-in to what’s next。

Went into this worried it'd be more overexposure for Joker, but there's a refreshing amount of Bat-family material all around the main story that built to some satisfying closure for several characters。 On the visual side, while there's a revolving door of artists, they're all quite good and each fits the protagonist of their respective chapter。 Went into this worried it'd be more overexposure for Joker, but there's a refreshing amount of Bat-family material all around the main story that built to some satisfying closure for several characters。 On the visual side, while there's a revolving door of artists, they're all quite good and each fits the protagonist of their respective chapter。 。。。more

I do appreciate a family coming together, which is what I got by the end of this。 Harley was fantastic, and Bruce is broken and learning how to heal in a new way。 Punchline is terrible and I like her a lot。 Oracle made an appearance。

This collects the main Joker War storyline from Batman plus all the tie-ins from all the other Batman Family comics。 All of the tie-ins are interspersed in the midst of the main storyline。 I actually found this to be disruptive。 I think reading the main storyline straight through and then going back to read the tie-ins to fill in the gaps works much better。I gave the main story 4 stars but this collection only 3 because of how disruptive the way this is collected is。 If you want to read every bi This collects the main Joker War storyline from Batman plus all the tie-ins from all the other Batman Family comics。 All of the tie-ins are interspersed in the midst of the main storyline。 I actually found this to be disruptive。 I think reading the main storyline straight through and then going back to read the tie-ins to fill in the gaps works much better。I gave the main story 4 stars but this collection only 3 because of how disruptive the way this is collected is。 If you want to read every bit of this, I suggest reading this and then reading the individual Batman family trades instead。 The Nightwing tie-in especially gives a lot away from what was going on in the lead up to that issue。This is my review for the main Batman: The Joker War story:The Joker steals Bruce Wayne's money and uses it to wreak havoc on Gotham。 This has got everything you want in a Batman story。 Lots of action。 Batman coming to terms with Alfred's death。 Joker。 Harley Quinn。 (She's a beast in this。 I love her as Batman's voice of reason。) Clown Hunter (He's a teenager murdering Joker's henchmen。) Patman's posse。 Punchline (Another great addition to Batman's rogues gallery。)Jorge Jimenez's art is phenomenal。 The dude can do it all, including drawing the entire arc without help。 。。。more

The Joker has taken over the Wayne Foundation and Gotham City as a whole and Batman is penniless, his allies traumatized and in a disarray。The main Joker War mini-series is a bit of a mixed bag om in Batman。 It finishes really strong with the 100th issue of its run with Batman。 It just kind of meanders and limps it's way there, with Batman unconcscious and attempts to be supershocking which are part of the mythos of Batman comics, but are becoming increasingly hard to do without going Mature rea The Joker has taken over the Wayne Foundation and Gotham City as a whole and Batman is penniless, his allies traumatized and in a disarray。The main Joker War mini-series is a bit of a mixed bag om in Batman。 It finishes really strong with the 100th issue of its run with Batman。 It just kind of meanders and limps it's way there, with Batman unconcscious and attempts to be supershocking which are part of the mythos of Batman comics, but are becoming increasingly hard to do without going Mature reader。However, at the same time, Joker War and all the tie-in issues collected here, establishes a new order for Batman and opens up multiple opportunities for Batman and his supporting cast。 Most of the tie-in stories are really quite good, though there are a few stinkers。 So, while I wasn't blown away much of Joker Wars, I did find myself at least cautiously optomistic about where it could lead。 。。。more

Take a great storyline of the war between Batman and Joker, give it some above average artwork and a decent script。 Mix it all up until it becomes an incoherent mess with no rhyme or reason and voila! You've got Joker War Saga! DC Comics is desperate to bankrupt themselves and alienate anyone who loves comics。When I say this book is awful, I don't mean it as a dig to any of the writers or artists on this book。 I'm sure somewhere between most to all of them love comics, and deserve better than this steaming pile of shit collection。The layout editor failed to use gutters。 A pretty basic staple of books。 So the images and text bleed into the spine and are, therefore, unreadable。 If you happen to know whether Ben Abernathy DC Comics is desperate to bankrupt themselves and alienate anyone who loves comics。When I say this book is awful, I don't mean it as a dig to any of the writers or artists on this book。 I'm sure somewhere between most to all of them love comics, and deserve better than this steaming pile of shit collection。The layout editor failed to use gutters。 A pretty basic staple of books。 So the images and text bleed into the spine and are, therefore, unreadable。 If you happen to know whether Ben Abernathy, Jessica Chen, Paul Kaminski, Jeb Woodward, Steve Cook, Megen Bellersen, or Suzanna Rowntree is responsible for the layout of this book, and you ask them why there are no gutters, and they do not say "I designed gutters, and had them in my original draft but my bosses removed them because they hate comics and don't understand how books work。" then they need to be publicly shamed。 This is an inexcusable mistake。 A thirteen year old making zines on a copy machine knows how gutters work, even if they don't know what they're called。 For this $40 hardcover not to include gutters is nothing short of embarrassing for everyone involved。My next issue is to the person who came up with the order for this book。 Why? Why would you do this? If your intent is to create a collection that tells the complete story of The Joker War, why would you tell it out of order? Why would you cram the side stories at the beginning of the book and then go to the main storyline。 So we see Harley Quinn in the aftermath of getting beaten up by Punchline? Who's Punchline? Well, she'll be introduced later。 In fact, six chapters later you'll get to see the fight that Harley is recovering from near the beginning of the book。 It makes me question not just Has This Editor Ever Read Comics Before but actually Has This Editor Ever Read A Book Before? Do they know how narrative works? Are any of the authors and artists justifiably angry at the absolute careless and negligent production that went into this $40 hardcover。How is the story?I don't know。 I couldn't keep reading this book。 It's designed to be put down in frustration。 I can't read all the text without breaking the spine of the book。 The story is told out of order。 Why would I bother to keep reading this?I wouldn't。This is an unreadable collection。 A zero star failure。 And, again, I feel bad for every author and artist whose work has been so insultingly treated by a company that clearly doesn't want to be involved in the comic business anymore。 Between the awful way they've been treating retailers, their complete inability to put out quality books despite their talented writers and artists, and their flagrant disregard for their consumers, DC continue to make it clear that they don't want anyone's money unless it's an obscene amount of money for a subpar product。Don't waste your time or money。 Send forty dollars to anyone listed as a writer or artist on this book。 Send it with flowers or a hand drawn card expressing your sympathy for their art being ruined by the talentless shitfucks currently mismanaging DC comics。 Wish them a job at Image or Boom or Marvel or Dark Horse or IDW or Fantagraphics or any company that has a competent staff who wants to make good loocking, fun to read books。 Because DC doesn't want or need your money。 And this book is a perfect middle finger to Batman fans who were hoping to enjoy last year's big Batman event。 。。。more
