Summary

Some things are easily forgiven。 Other things 。 。 。 not so much。

Lenny DeMaio made herself a promise: she was done。

Done thinking about him。

Done worrying about him。

Done reaching out to a man who clearly didn't want to be found。

Too bad no one gave Jonah Collins the memo。

the ending of this book made me sob, prepare yourselves :’)

I can’t even express the love I have for MZ and her characters, it was just everything。 The ending broke my heart but it was also the most perfect thing。

Came for the story, stayed for Jonah。 But nah, this book didn't cut it for me。 Too much angst for a non-existential plot。 Came for the story, stayed for Jonah。 But nah, this book didn't cut it for me。 Too much angst for a non-existential plot。 。。。more

Another great read。 Another long read with way too much repetition but I just can’t help but like MZ novels。 Love the main characters in this one and Jonah, ah he’s a dream!

The only way second-chance romances work for me is if there is lots of groveling (done by the man of course), I don't think he groveled enough and it completely put me off。 The only way second-chance romances work for me is if there is lots of groveling (done by the man of course), I don't think he groveled enough and it completely put me off。 。。。more

Guess I’m in the minority。 I wasn’t a fan of the any character or their “romance”。 Too many unnecessary side stories that didn’t contribute to the plot。

Vanessa

I’m still sobbing at that ending

I really adored the emphasis on family in this book。 It's probably an unpopular opinion but I love it when babies are involved in romance novels, I don't really know why。 The romance didn't feel as developed as it could have been but still a great read。 I really adored the emphasis on family in this book。 It's probably an unpopular opinion but I love it when babies are involved in romance novels, I don't really know why。 The romance didn't feel as developed as it could have been but still a great read。 。。。more

Started out promising。 Then it kinda rambled on and felt a little too long。 Don't get me wrong though。 There's a lot I like about this book。 I love the strong, unapologetic heroine。 The soft shy boy she fell in love with。 Grandpa Gus。 Peter。 This novel had a lot of heart。 Plus that scene that had me cracking up late at night, giggling like a hyena。 🤣Just wish it was edited in the middle, to make the story shorter, a little more cohesive。 Started out promising。 Then it kinda rambled on and felt a little too long。 Don't get me wrong though。 There's a lot I like about this book。 I love the strong, unapologetic heroine。 The soft shy boy she fell in love with。 Grandpa Gus。 Peter。 This novel had a lot of heart。 Plus that scene that had me cracking up late at night, giggling like a hyena。 🤣Just wish it was edited in the middle, to make the story shorter, a little more cohesive。 。。。more

The synopsis is vague for a reason!! I thought those was a great book and as a MZ fan I enjoyed that this one was different。 Pick it up if you like MZ writing and don't let the vague synopsis throw ypu off! That was genuinely terrible。 There was barely a plot, the characters were one dimensional (and had not chemistry) and the book was entirely too long。 The kindest thing I can say is that this book certainly is a collection of sentences

UGH - this is my least favorite MZ book。。。

Well, I absolutely hated this one。 Done with Zapata books now。 Kulti and Lukov notwithstanding。 Get better editors, they’ve stopped giving you the feedback you need。

Man, this was ROUGH。 What the heck happened to the Mariana Zapata that wrote “From Lukov with Love” and “All Rhodes Lead Here?!” I figured this was one of her first books based on the super repetitive writing and overall lack of heart/character development in the story, only to find out this book was written in 2019?! I am confusion。 I am also mad I spent 500 pages on a boring book。

This is one of her best books by far。 Third best in my opinion。 I LOVED noah。 Like marriage material, and just overall, swoon worthy and i don't think I've ever swooned before。 Have read it twice, and will definitely read it again。 Great job Zapata。 Best slow burn author ever。 This is one of her best books by far。 Third best in my opinion。 I LOVED noah。 Like marriage material, and just overall, swoon worthy and i don't think I've ever swooned before。 Have read it twice, and will definitely read it again。 Great job Zapata。 Best slow burn author ever。 。。。more

4。5⭐️s! I loved this book so much more than I thought I would! I hadn’t seen much abt this book before I went into it and I think that helped my enjoyment! Also, my dad is from NZ and I watched the All Blacks growing up so it was fun to read abt a rugby player! I don’t want to say to much else about it but I loved Lenny and Jonah so much! Pls read this book if you want a cute, comforting second-chance slow burn romance!

4。8 starsSo this story didn't start off with the usual girl meets boy or works for boy and fall in love eventually after getting to know each other yada yada。 Lenny has already met Jonah and was getting over him when he decides to make an appearance。 So different from the usual trope but didn't take away from the story and the familiar writing style。 I loved Grandpa Gus and Mo and Jonah and everyone else part of that family。 The story had funny moments and Jonah's shyness was so adorable compare 4。8 starsSo this story didn't start off with the usual girl meets boy or works for boy and fall in love eventually after getting to know each other yada yada。 Lenny has already met Jonah and was getting over him when he decides to make an appearance。 So different from the usual trope but didn't take away from the story and the familiar writing style。 I loved Grandpa Gus and Mo and Jonah and everyone else part of that family。 The story had funny moments and Jonah's shyness was so adorable compared to the grumpy men usually written by the author。 The ending had me teary but once again it was really well written that they all feel so realistic。 Once again congrats to the author for writing yet another brilliant story。 。。。more

REVIEW IN ENGLISH & SPANISH | RESEÑA EN ESPAÑOL & INGLES----- E N G L I S H -----Mariana Zapata has undoubtedly become an author that I look for from time to time and although her books are slow burn, I have to say that I enjoy them like no other。 At this point I think I can only love Mariana Zapata's slow burn。In the story we have Lenny DeMaio (if you read Luna and The Lie, she's Luna's best undoubtedly become an author that I look for from time to time and although her books are slow burn, I have to say that I enjoy them like no other。 At this point I think I can only love Mariana Zapata's slow burn。In the story we have Lenny DeMaio (if you read Luna and The Lie, she's Luna's best friend) and Jonah Collins as the main couple and I have to say I really loved each of them。 Although the synopsis may not be very clear when telling the story, this is a story that begins backwards and I do not mention it so that you are scared or afraid to read the book for real if you like slow burn and second chances this is it a worthwhile book。When I mention that it starts backwards, it means that Lenny & Jonah already know each other, they already had a relationship and now they have to work on it。(view spoiler)[Not only for themselves but for the Mo who truly loves Mo with all my heart, there was a moment in the book that I really thought I needed to have a child (hide spoiler)]Truly, among the things that I like the most in Mariana Zapata's books is that you can feel that family affection that each one of her books has and this case is no exception, I wanted, I needed to hug Lenny's grandfather so much。 every time he mentioned blood。 (view spoiler)[Clearly we can understand why Lenny is so strong and true to herself, she even knows how to forgive, and that is because she had a good father, a person who taught her so many things in life that cannot be enumerated。 And don't get me started on Peter for real every time I read romances with lgbt couples having a history like theirs and surviving so long together and taking care of both Lenny, Mo eh even Jonah makes me want to cry。 (hide spoiler)]There are moments in this book where you can get angry about the injustices that happen and unfortunately it is normal。 I think that in part I like Mariana Zapata's books because they have a little or some reality in them, their good or bad family stories, triumphs or defeats in our ways that sometimes depend on us and sometimes not。If you have the opportunity to read this book, do it, it is one of those stories that stays with you。----- E S P A Ñ O L -----Mariana Zapata sin duda se ha convertido en una autora que busco cada determinado tiempo y es que si bien sus libros son slow burn eh de decir que los disfruto como ningun otro。 A este punto creo que solo puedo amar el slow burn de Mariana Zapata。 En la historia tenemos a Lenny DeMaio (si leíste Luna and The Lie, es la mejor amiga de Luna) y a Jonah Collins como pareja principal y tengo que decir que de verdad me encantaron cada uno。 Si bien la sinopsis puede no ser muy clara al momento de contar la historia esta es una historia que comienza al revés y no lo menciono para que se asusten o teman el leer el libro de verdad si les gusta el slow burn y segundas oportunidad este es un libro que vale la pena。 Cuando menciono que comienza al reves es que Lenny & Jonah ya se conocen, ya tuvieron una relación y ahora tienen que trabajar en ello。(view spoiler)[No solo por ellos mismos sino por la Mo que de verdad ame con todo el corazón a Mo hubo un momento en el libro que de verdad creí que necesitaba tener un hijo (hide spoiler)]De verdad dentro de las cosas que más me gustan en los libros de Mariana Zapata es que tu puedes sentir ese cariño de familia que tiene cada uno de sus libros y este caso no es la excepción, quería, necesitaba abrazar tanto al abuelo de Lenny ame cada momento que mencionaba la sangre。 (view spoiler)[Claramente podemos entender porque Lenny es tan fuerte y fiel a si misma incluso sabe perdonar y es que tuvo un buen padre una persona que le enseño tantas cosas de la vida que no se pueden enumerar。 Y no me hagan hablar de Peter de verdad cada vez que leo romances con parejas lgbt teniendo una historia como la de ellos y que haya sobrevivido tanto tiempo juntos y cuidando ambos de Lenny, Mo eh incluso Jonah hace que quiera llorar。 (hide spoiler)]Hay momentos en este libro donde te puedes enojar por las injusticias que pasan y es que lamentablemente es normal creo que en parte me gustan los libros de Mariana Zapata porque tienen un poco o algo de realidad en ellos, sus historias familiares buenas o malas, triunfos o derrotas en nuestros caminos que a veces dependen de nosotros y algunas veces no。Si tienen oportunidad de leer este libro háganlo es una de esas historias que se quedan contigo。 。。。more

I thought I had read all of her books that I wanted to get through, but this one popped up somewhere on a for you page and I was like ‘how did I miss this’。 I absolutely adored this story。 This is not a pregnancy trope book, but it does involve a baby/parenting (are those tropes?) if that is not your interest I know a lot of people hate the preggo trope。 I’ve wanted to dip my toes into this realm of books and it was a good read。
