How do I even review this book?? What even happened? This was such a new style of writing that it took some time to get accustomed to。 The way the author gave life to these characters made them act out and then explained to us the meaning of every little thing they did on all the possible perspectives was so astonishing。 Every part of the book had such a big connection that I didn't get right until the end。 And the way the author gave away the ending in the middle of the book and played around it How do I even review this book?? 4。5, cuốn sách cứu vớt mình khỏi reading slump (tuy đọc nửa sau cũng hơi hơi oải - nhưng không có nghĩa là không hay nháaaa)。 hay dã man trời đất quỷ thần, ai mà ngờ được từ chuyện ngoại tình mà viết được nhiều điều hay như thế:))))

More like the Unbearable Intellectualization of Having a Boner, amiright?I haaaaaated this。So much of this book is about sex and how we're selfish jerks who are incapable of real love, which I don't entirely object to, it just feels so。。。bleh。 And not bleh in a brilliant way like Stoner by John Williams。 And then there's the backdrop of politics which doesn't make this shit deep。I'm mildly amused by the fact that there's so much biblical Adam and Eve rambling AND an uncomfortable amount of butt More like the Unbearable Intellectualization of Having a Boner, amiright?I haaaaaated this。So much of this book is about sex and how we're selfish jerks who are incapable of real love, which I don't entirely object to, it just feels so。。。bleh。 And not bleh in a brilliant way like Stoner by John Williams。 And then there's the backdrop of politics which doesn't make this shit deep。I'm mildly amused by the fact that there's so much biblical Adam and Eve rambling AND an uncomfortable amount of butt stuff。 Speaking of butt stuff, this book is Freudian af and it's painful。But there were things I liked about it。 Like how it would revisit the same moment over and over again from different angles。 And there were a few passages that had nothing to do with sex or love (or philosophy) that were genuinely good。 Sometimes watching characters stupidly talk themselves into or out of things was good。 But mostly this felt like watching a philosophy major masturbate in his dorm room。It's one of those books that feels like it's good to have read so if someone ever tells me it's their favorite book I can be like, "What did you like about it?" and see if I should run away。 。。。more

Reading the book, I was reminded of this piece by Robert frost about the significance of choices as we go through life。 "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference" Reading the book, I was reminded of this piece by Robert frost about the significance of choices as we go through life。 "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference" 。。。more

this book took me a while because it was so layered。 just when i thought i knew what it was trying to tell me, another piece of the onion was pulled back and the world shifted again。 it was lovely and i’m excited to reread it when i’m older

this read like a philosophy book。 i think milan kundera is too smart。 this reminded me of the stranger but i hated the stranger and i enjoyed this。 sabina seems like the best character to me and i really did not understand how tomas possibly could have loved tereza when he acted the way he did。 i liked the book but for some reason i feel very compelled to give it 3 stars

It was definitely different from the books I've been reading these past few months。A kaleidoscope of people, stories, fates, all in the backdrop of Soviet invasion in Czech Republic。 Some thigs sound eerily familiar these days。 Not in a good way。 It was definitely different from the books I've been reading these past few months。A kaleidoscope of people, stories, fates, all in the backdrop of Soviet invasion in Czech Republic。 Some thigs sound eerily familiar these days。 Not in a good way。 。。。more

Hello all,I rarely, if ever, leave reviews here but I decided that I’d give this book a crack three years after I was supposed to actually read it for a class。 DNF at page 204。 What starts as a light read - and remains that way, really - becomes a study in pointlessness and banality。 You could say the simplicity became unbearable。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Uno dei romanzi più belli che io abbia mai letto。 Racconta della storia di quattro persone Tomas, la sua compagna Tereza, una sua amante Sabina e Franz un amante di quest’ultima。 Scritto in maniera scorrevole e chiara。 Anche a metà racconto ti dice già che moriranno in qualche modo。Tomas e Tereza schiacciati da un camion; Franz ucciso da un colpo alla testa。 Molto commovente il momento della morta di Karenin🐶。 Parallela alla storia, molte volte c’erano delle riflessioni sulla guerra o rispettive Uno dei romanzi più belli che io abbia mai letto。 Racconta della storia di quattro persone Tomas, la sua compagna Tereza, una sua amante Sabina e Franz un amante di quest’ultima。 Scritto in maniera scorrevole e chiara。 Anche a metà racconto ti dice già che moriranno in qualche modo。Tomas e Tereza schiacciati da un camion; Franz ucciso da un colpo alla testa。 Molto commovente il momento della morta di Karenin🐶。 Parallela alla storia, molte volte c’erano delle riflessioni sulla guerra o rispettive al carattere o alle azioni dei vari personaggi。 Ho trovato la cosa molto interessante。 Libro assolutamente consigliato。 。。。more

I really enjoyed reading this book。 It embarked me simply to see the philosophy of life from the eyes of each main character through the story line。 And at the end, it was me to conclude: Nothing is predictable, et c’est pourquoi la vie est belle!

Such beautiful writing! And I loved the dialogues, although the male characters are so annoying I almost rage quit the book。 I would read it again tho!
