This is a good resource, especially for those just starting out in apologetics。 It has notes, similar to most study Bibles。 It also has longer articles on a variety of topics。 This study Bible uses the Christian Standard Bible translation which is pretty good。 There were a few views promoted that I didn't agree with but that is to be expected。 This is a good resource, especially for those just starting out in apologetics。 It has notes, similar to most study Bibles。 It also has longer articles on a variety of topics。 This study Bible uses the Christian Standard Bible translation which is pretty good。 There were a few views promoted that I didn't agree with but that is to be expected。 。。。more

Good apologetics articles。 Commentary definitely leans Arminian。

If you're looking to learn about apologetics this is a good study Bible。 There are plenty of articles, all well written, some exceptionally so。 The study notes are fine for being purposed towards apologetics, but can seem to be lacking at times。 The various charts and info in the back is interesting, and can be edifying。 Again, all in all I think it's good, I've had this version for over a decade now and I still occasionally reference it。 However, I would treat this study Bible as more of an int If you're looking to learn about apologetics this is a good study Bible。 There are plenty of articles, all well written, some exceptionally so。 The study notes are fine for being purposed towards apologetics, but can seem to be lacking at times。 The various charts and info in the back is interesting, and can be edifying。 Again, all in all I think it's good, I've had this version for over a decade now and I still occasionally reference it。 However, I would treat this study Bible as more of an introduction to apologetics than a comprehensive overview。 If you would like to be well versed in the topic, you'll have to pick up some additional books。 。。。more

The Bible, of course, is always interesting and illuminating。 The commentary/apologetics contained is this edition was very helpful for the most part。 There were times, I felt it lacking or there was no explanation on some of the verses I would have liked。 However, I would recommend it。

So far I am on Chapter 12 and I am excited as I get ready to dig in to this In Genesis! I am actually right now studying here but I am also studying in King James Version and cross-referencing between this version and the King James Version of the accounts of King Solomon and the building of the Temple of the Lord in 1 Kings and I will have to tell you that it is more helpful and anyone who is honest and truthful with you will tell you the same thing that using this version or something similar So far I am on Chapter 12 and I am excited as I get ready to dig in to this In Genesis! We are not familiar with a lot of the terms used so sometimes it is necessary to make it more clear to reach more people! That doesn't necessarily mean that it is wrong as long as you don't take away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I myself personally use King James Version on a regular basis! And have for many years and will continue to do so! However, I do find some other versions valuable resources full of chunk of gold like Apologies and facts and historical evidence that back up the Bible! Highly recommend! I will read till the end! I just read a lot of other stuff, Bible study of course, for those who know me! Lol! 😂 It just might take a while! But I will complete! This has 1,728 pages! Digital on my phone! How do you get it to show you the page you are on? I don't know? Lol!😂😂❤️ 。。。more

Well, for one, I am not going to give a Bible anything less than 5 stars。 That being said, I do prefer the King James Version, if for no other reason than I enjoy the poetic language more。 But the commentary here is great。 I think sometimes there's a little too much commentary, but I would always rather complain about too much commentary than too little。 I just find it insane that some things are being put to question, but I'm not a serious scholar, so, whatever。 Great articles as well。 I recomm Well, for one, I am not going to give a Bible anything less than 5 stars。 That being said, I do prefer the King James Version, if for no other reason than I enjoy the poetic language more。 But the commentary here is great。 I think sometimes there's a little too much commentary, but I would always rather complain about too much commentary than too little。 I just find it insane that some things are being put to question, but I'm not a serious scholar, so, whatever。 Great articles as well。 I recommend it for people who want to read a Bible with commentary。 It didn't strengthen my faith, but it helped me to understand certain parts a little bit better。 。。。more

I got this Bible because I was hoping to have a work that contains some of the trinitarian arguments against Jehovah’s Witnesses (being one myself)。 There are a few articles, references, and “twisted scriptures” that mention/discuss the views of Jehovah’s Witnesses。 This work will help me be to be prepared for objections so I can be ready to refute trinitarians’ twisting of scripture。 But one issue with the work is that there are quite a lot of inaccuracies on Witnesses’ beliefs throughout the b I got this Bible because I was hoping to have a work that contains some of the trinitarian arguments against Jehovah’s Witnesses (being one myself)。 There are a few articles, references, and “twisted scriptures” that mention/discuss the views of Jehovah’s Witnesses。 This work will help me be to be prepared for objections so I can be ready to refute trinitarians’ twisting of scripture。 But one issue with the work is that there are quite a lot of inaccuracies on Witnesses’ beliefs throughout the book。 Just one example being, in the article on Jehovah’s Witnesses, the writer claims that the NWT was not written by biblical scholars。 This view is unverifiable because the translation committee were anonymous。 Furthermore, such an assertion is an ad hominem at best as he fails to provide arguments that the NWT is an unscholarly translation。 Another inaccuracy is where it is claimed that our beliefs derive from (1) our particular Bible translation & (2) the authority of the Watchtower Society。 However both of these claims are false! For one thing, the thrust of our beliefs were established before the NWT even came out (we used the KJV & the ASV previously)。 We also tend to have/compare a variety of translations - I myself have 6 different translations aside from the NWT! Also, our beliefs derive solely from the Bible - and that is why we trust the spiritual food dispensed by our brothers。 If they no longer taught what the Bible really teaches then we wouldn’t accept what they are saying。 Honestly, I expected a more scholarly critique of Jehovah's Witnesses。 Instead the critique was full of inaccuracies and petty ad hominems。Aside from the information specific to Jehovah’s Witnesses, the other articles are good but are fairly brief and superficial treatments。 I suppose that is to be expected, but don’t expect anything too deep with this Bible。UPDATE: I returned this book to Amazon and managed to get a refund。 The content of this book just isn't very good! Instead I'm gonna try out the ESV Study Bible as that looks more comprehensive and scholarly。 。。。more

Apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia which means “defense” or “answer”。 It is commonly known as the practice of giving a defense of your faith。 In this post Christian era that we have been privileged to live in, wouldn’t it be nice to have a resource at your finger tips to assist you in that defense。 The publishers of the Christian Stand Bible, CSB, have done that with the CSB Apologetics Study Bible。 In this Bible they have brought together some of the best apologetic minds to help us Apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia which means “defense” or “answer”。 It is commonly known as the practice of giving a defense of your faith。 In this post Christian era that we have been privileged to live in, wouldn’t it be nice to have a resource at your finger tips to assist you in that defense。 The publishers of the Christian Stand Bible, CSB, have done that with the CSB Apologetics Study Bible。 In this Bible they have brought together some of the best apologetic minds to help us with such a defense。This Bible is truly a must have for almost all believers。 As you share the gospel you are always faced with questions and situations that require greater insight than you may feel comfortable delivering at the moment。 This Bible is filled with 134 articles on key apologetic subjects。 Want to know if the Old Testament is trustworthy? You will find an article written by Walter C。 Kaiser Jr。 Want to know about how the Bible was accurately copied down through the centuries? Norman L。 Geisler has an answer for you in this Bible。 How do you defend miracles? Ronald H。 Nash has an article on that very subject in this Bible。Why a Bible? What better place to put such material especially when its very content is being questioned。 This Bible includes 48 “twisted Scripture” sections for Scriptures that have been misunderstood。 You are able to see the apologist give explanation to help you have an objective answer in such a relative world that we live。Each of the 66 books have an introduction written exclusively for this Bible。 The introductions along with the short study helps at the bottom of the pages of Scripture, help you have a greater grasp as to the reliability of the book that you are studying。 This is actually a good study Bible to have on yourself。This Bible helps you by giving you profiles of 12 of the most prominent apologists from Thomas Aquinas to C。S。 Lewis。All of this and more is placed in the CSB translation which I find very easy to read and reliable。 I just love the type in these CSB Bibles。 It is very easy on the eyes。I would say that every pastor and student of the Word needs to have this Bible on his shelf to read and to reference。 I’m thankful to have mine。The publisher sent me a copy of this Bible for an honest review。 。。。more

I LOVE God’s Word。 I love opening a new Bible, bringing it to my face, thrusting my nose into the center and breathing in deeply。 It always emits a sigh from my deepest heart。Not simply because I’m enamored with a new book, and a new book smell。 I get giddy with the heady scent of an old favorite book too。 Currently the Bible that I use daily smells of all things coffee。 There are coffee rings on some of the pages。The sigh comes from a place of knowing how loved I am。 The God who created a billi I LOVE God’s Word。 I love opening a new Bible, bringing it to my face, thrusting my nose into the center and breathing in deeply。 It always emits a sigh from my deepest heart。Not simply because I’m enamored with a new book, and a new book smell。 I get giddy with the heady scent of an old favorite book too。 Currently the Bible that I use daily smells of all things coffee。 There are coffee rings on some of the pages。The sigh comes from a place of knowing how loved I am。 The God who created a billion galaxies thought of and noticed little me。 He wrote His life story through the pen of many men many, many years ago。 He wrote this so I could, so you could know Him。It’s what we were created for。 We were created to know and love God。 What better way to communicate that than through a love letter telling His story? I can’t think of one。I recently had the honor of reviewing The Apologetics Study Bible。 It is published by LifeWay/BH Publishing and uses the Holman Christian Standard translation。 I received a hardback copy, on the grey and white cover there is a watermark of The Thinker with the words “Faithful and True” along the edge of the spine。 If you take off the dust cover you lose none of the design。 I love that。The pages are thin, but not super thin。 The font though。 Oh my word the font! I can almost read it without my glasses on。 I love that。 I can set it on my desk and not have to lean over very close to it just to read。 That is huge。Okay。 Let me explain that。 The font isn’t huge。 But it is a big enough size I can see it clearly。 This makes me happy。Sprinkled throughout the Bible are little boxes labeled “Twisted Scripture”。 It’s not what you think! In these boxes, Alan Street offers explanation for commonly misconstrued passages of Scripture。Also you’ll find sprinkled throughout various articles on a wide range of topics。 These are great to direct your thoughts deeper and would be excellent to use as a devotional。Each book also has, as is typical for study Bibles, an introduction to each book, and study notes at the bottom of the page。The one thing I do not like, and to me this is not a minor dislike, but is big。 In the introduction to the books, it lists the man the Spirit of God breathed through as the author。 The Author of the Bible is God。 Men were merely the penmen, if you will。You can order through Lifeway or your favorite Christian bookstore。I give it 4 out of 5 turning pages。 。。。more

The Apologetics Study Bible is the latest addition from Holman and the Christian Standard Bible。 As its name suggests this is a very specific type of study bible。 Like all study bible, this a resource or tool。 Still there is enough here for every reader, and every follower of Christ is an apologist。 As stated this resource is tied to the Christian Standard Bible, a very readable and reliable Bible translation。 Like any very good reference Bible this one has lots of useful features。 Each book of The Apologetics Study Bible is the latest addition from Holman and the Christian Standard Bible。 As its name suggests this is a very specific type of study bible。 Like all study bible, this a resource or tool。 Still there is enough here for every reader, and every follower of Christ is an apologist。 As stated this resource is tied to the Christian Standard Bible, a very readable and reliable Bible translation。 Like any very good reference Bible this one has lots of useful features。 Each book of the Bible contains an introduction defining its authorship。 Another feature of the introduction is a defense of the reliability of the book in the canon of Scripture。 This is fitting for a resource focused on apologetics, defending the reliability of the source。 Each introduction also contains a unique feature highlighting a specific issue of the book, from challenging myths to the importance of the book in the greater scope of Scripture。 Fortunately, these introductions are just that and not a commentary。 The reader is given just enough information to grasp the book。 One minor note is there are no outlines provided for each book。 Throughout the text there are plenty of study notes to help illuminate and expand the readers understanding of the Biblical text itself。 The heart of this Bible is its apologetics resources。 The lion's share of the material is in articles spread throughout the text。 The articles range from topics such as "Are the days of creation to be taken literally" to looks at Islam and sexuality。 One of the strengths of these articles is they are not tied to specific political, social or other areas。 Each article is tied to a scriptural text as its basis。 Each article, whether it is about sexuality, science, or ethics is backed biblically。 The authors range from Russell Moore of the ERLC of the Southern Baptist Church to John Frame of Reformed Theological Seminary and the late Chuck Colson。 There are plenty of these articles to cover most of the issues the church faces today。 Along with top notch scholarship contributing these articles they are presented as readable and accessible to the reader。 No Seminary degree or philosophy background needed。 The second notable feature is the twisted scripture index。 R Alan Smith has brief comments on 20 passages of Scripture showing how various groups have taken scripture and twisted it to their own views。 (See Genesis 1:2 and vampires for an example) The final part I want to mention are the biographies。 There are 12 articles introducing prominent apologists from church history。 These biographies range from Augustine to C。S Lewis。 While not extensive (a paragraph or so) they are sufficient to encourage the reader to read more about the person。 The articles also encourage the reader that the church has wrestled with questions and successfully defended the faith for thousands of years。 This publication will not address every topic or answer every objection or question it is a solid, valuable resource to aid the reader to understand and defend the faith as well as give the believer confidence in the faith handed down throughout the ages 。。。more
