Summary

In the new Eve Dallas police thriller from #1 New York Times-bestselling author J。 D。 Robb, what looked like a lover's quarrel turned fatal has larger--and more terrifying--motives behind it。。。

The scene in the West Village studio appears to be classic crime-of-passion: two wine glasses by the bed, music playing, and a young sculptor named Ariel Byrd with the back of her head bashed in。 But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don't add up。 Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, comforted by her handsome fiancé as she sheds tears over the trauma of finding the body--but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things?

As Eve and her team look into Gwen, her past, and the people around her, they find that the lies are about more than murder。 As with sculpture, they need to chip away at the layers of deception to find the shape within--and soon they're getting the FBI involved in a case that involves a sinister, fanatical group and a stunning criminal conspiracy。

Faithless In Death was another fun read from JD Robb。 While she has some irritating writing quirks, I was able to overcome them to enjoy this story that was full of plot twists and turns。In a way it reminded me of the Jim Jones disaster, going after a religious cult leader。 Then again, the way things turned out left a smile on my face。Told in solid third-person, past-tense, my issues were that the author tended to head-hop, a big irritant。 The second thing was her tendency for super-long chapter Faithless In Death was another fun read from JD Robb。 While she has some irritating writing quirks, I was able to overcome them to enjoy this story that was full of plot twists and turns。In a way it reminded me of the Jim Jones disaster, going after a religious cult leader。 Then again, the way things turned out left a smile on my face。Told in solid third-person, past-tense, my issues were that the author tended to head-hop, a big irritant。 The second thing was her tendency for super-long chapters, which made it harder to keep my place during short reading surges。 She had one decent short chapter near the end。 Then, of course, I skipped the love making scene which is mandatory in all of this series。 Otherwise, I had a great time with this fascinating read。 Highly recommended。 。。。more

Another of the best!Looks like Dallas is moving into the world stage。 This picks up from the last book and starts with an typical Dallas murder。 From there it moves to unexpected places that you will enjoy。

#52 again has Eve Duncan and her crew solving homicides。 A cult, murder, abductions, forced marriage, human trafficking。 It started with a murder but turned into much more。

This was the first JD Robb book I have read。 I chose to read it on the Cloud Library and at first, the narrator irritated me but now that I've read 2 books by her and know what her characters sound like, I have gotten used to it。 This one had a very interesting plot line and was about people in a cult。 The female lead character is a hard-a%% and is very good at what she does。 I love her love interest and partner。 It shows she has a soft underbelly。 I will definitely read more by her。 This was the first JD Robb book I have read。 I chose to read it on the Cloud Library and at first, the narrator irritated me but now that I've read 2 books by her and know what her characters sound like, I have gotten used to it。 This one had a very interesting plot line and was about people in a cult。 The female lead character is a hard-a%% and is very good at what she does。 I love her love interest and partner。 It shows she has a soft underbelly。 I will definitely read more by her。 。。。more

Brilliant as always。Everything J D Robb describes jumps colourfully into your head, every emotion she feels as Eve, you feel too。 And Rourke, well he’s just heavenly, every so often I have to pause, just hold myself still to see and hear him in my mind, my heart, my soul。 Brilliant, just brilliant。A real Roller Coaster。

My favorite in a long while。

DNF: BEYOND DISAPPOINTED I have followed the series since day 1。 I fell in love with all JD’s characters。 I have come to root for and cry with them over the years as Nora Roberts is most notably a talented writer, but I will no longer spend a dime on any more of her books。 Additionally, I will no longer be following this series。 Everyone is allowed to have their opinions, but to find her political commentary in a piece of literary fiction was quite shocking。 As a reader, I do not care what the w DNF: BEYOND DISAPPOINTED I have followed the series since day 1。 I fell in love with all JD’s characters。 I have come to root for and cry with them over the years as Nora Roberts is most notably a talented writer, but I will no longer spend a dime on any more of her books。 Additionally, I will no longer be following this series。 Everyone is allowed to have their opinions, but to find her political commentary in a piece of literary fiction was quite shocking。 As a reader, I do not care what the writer’s political leaning are, I care for their story and continue to invest in them only in accordance to the merit of their storytelling。 She lumped a varied and widely diverse group of people into a “white male”/suprematism category, grouped those of (today’s) differing and diverse stances into one “cult” that she called in the book “natural order”, and then proceeded to use nuanced and diverse political issues and simplified it all as “bigot” and “bat sh*t crazy”。 ***To be truly wise is to learn from every single person。***To place current day political commentary from the author with her overt opinions tinged with moral judgment was distasteful in my estimation。 As simplifying complex issues, stances, and diverse groups of today and labeling them with moral equivalency is not what I read fiction for。She is an extremely talented writer。 I am sorry to have to abandon the series。 。。。more

I like mysteries and I thought I would like this one, but I didn't。 While the premise was good, there is something I found very negative about the characters。 If this is the way the author really thinks the future will be; I am glad I will be in my 80's, 90's or gone by then。 I like mysteries and I thought I would like this one, but I didn't。 While the premise was good, there is something I found very negative about the characters。 If this is the way the author really thinks the future will be; I am glad I will be in my 80's, 90's or gone by then。 。。。more

I'm reading through this series, not in order I'm afraid。 But it doesn't affect my enjoyment of each story。 I found this another great read with Eve Dallas remaining my 'hero'。 I'm reading through this series, not in order I'm afraid。 But it doesn't affect my enjoyment of each story。 I found this another great read with Eve Dallas remaining my 'hero'。 。。。more

Even with me pausing in the middle of this story to read a completely different book, it was another wild and crazy ride for Eve! I really enjoyed this one, how it just wasn't adding up right, and I really didn't see it coming when the villain reveal happened! It blew me away and I nearly woke my spouse up trying to keep from yelling at the Kindle screen! I really liked how everything had been deflected away from the true villain, and it was just one little slip up that got them caught! Excellent as alwaysEve was once again up to the task of fighting crime in this book about a murder of an artist。 The twists and turns to get them to the final conclusion were very entertaining for all she groups。

While there is still character growth and the story moves along, the anticipation and planning used to solve this case is high。

Eve is always great at coordinating lots of people for take-downs。 I did wonder about one thing: was the woman's brother killed & maybe cremated at the compound? I found this book discarded on a random shelf in an AirBnB and having just finished a disappointing book on my kindle, I figured “why not” for a change of pace…。。 So glad I did because I couldn’t put it down! Every once in a while, these stories hit hard。 Icoves, Red Horse, and now Natural Order。 Horrifying on a deep level, but Eve pulls it together and gets justice。 With her amazing team of cops and Roarke, the bad guy always gets it in the end。

Another good book in this series, real in-depth。

My first JD Robb novel but not my last! I love how she takes the detective story trope--which I really enjoy as escapist reading--and places it several decades n the future! With women in charge and as heroes! Yes, predictable but so nice to have the good women win in the end。

I used to read this series all the time。 They are a good quick read with action and interesting characters but …they seem to me to be the same ol, same ol。 You read one you read them all kind of thing。 Nice to come back to if you want that type of read but sort of boring at the same time。

It started out as one death。 Eve Dallas will stand for the dead woman, and track down the truth。 But it's a lot more complicated。 Cults。 Murder。 Stepford communities。 Very interesting。 It started out as one death。 Eve Dallas will stand for the dead woman, and track down the truth。 But it's a lot more complicated。 Cults。 Murder。 Stepford communities。 Very interesting。 。。。more

These audiobooks are light and fun reads。 They satisfy a reader's need/desire for revenge and justice in the face of evil。 I have been listening to these books from my library for years and they are a great escape。 You cannot help but love Dallas, and her team。 The sex and romance are good but not overdone。 It is truly unfortunate that true justice, solving crimes, and shutting down cults cannot happen as quickly in the real world。 Even with the tech of the future, I fear that it will never be t These audiobooks are light and fun reads。 They satisfy a reader's need/desire for revenge and justice in the face of evil。 I have been listening to these books from my library for years and they are a great escape。 You cannot help but love Dallas, and her team。 The sex and romance are good but not overdone。 It is truly unfortunate that true justice, solving crimes, and shutting down cults cannot happen as quickly in the real world。 Even with the tech of the future, I fear that it will never be this simple, but it is nice to think it might be。 。。。more
