A really slow book with no build up。

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group for providing this arc!I’ve never read anything previously from Anna Todd, but I know her After series is popular and I enjoyed the movies。 So I expected something passionate, character driven and steamy…Unfortunately if you had the same expectations you won’t find the above here。It’s an enjoyable easy read but it lacks depth。 There’s very little plot and the characters lack the chemistry that I’ve heard about and seen in Annas previous Thank you so much to Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group for providing this arc!I’ve never read anything previously from Anna Todd, but I know her After series is popular and I enjoyed the movies。 So I expected something passionate, character driven and steamy…Unfortunately if you had the same expectations you won’t find the above here。It’s an enjoyable easy read but it lacks depth。 There’s very little plot and the characters lack the chemistry that I’ve heard about and seen in Annas previous books/movie adaptations。 Karina our heroine sees Kael and is instantly infatuated; from that moment nearly every thought and conversation is about him。 Whereas Kael seems to be uninterested。 Kael is very stoic and quiet and I believe this is meant to make you find him mysterious? But I found him very boring。 Karina has too much to say and him far too little so she’s constantly just talking at him。There are way too many monologues of Karina’s inner thoughts, which again leaves very little space for actual plot development or character bonding。 This book wasn’t all bad so I’m intrigued to see where the series goes。 Things I appreciated in this book: - Multiracial relationship- Short chapters: made for a quick read2。5 stars 。。。more

Anna Todd has done it again! As soon as I found this I knew I needed to read it ASAP。 It is beautiful, heartbreaking and endearing, this book makes me desperate to continue learning their story。 I highly recommend it!

1st book of the trilogy, sooo long to wait for the next one!Confused by the beginning and the ending, seems so long like book 2 may pick up either where book 1 ended or somewhere in between。Also realised this is a rework of the original written in 2018
