I am so freaking glad the parents were ALL there to support their kids but these woman are just so kind and loving and strong! The Dad Squad - absolutely my favorite part of the book。 Aaron, Bob, Trey, and Miles didn't quite share just one brain cell but it was fucking close。 Their IQ doesn't drop or anything, but something happens to the Dad Squad when they're all together。Cap and Mary - not quite parents, but they did help to raise Nick so I am so glad to see them get included in the battle。Simon Burke - get fuckedOwen - disappointed。 He didn't have to be the villain in the end, I didn't want him to be the villain in the end! Burke pushed him too far, and Owen will never come back now。 Patricia Burke - how fucking insidious。 The whole beginning of the book had me so fucking anxious。 I didn't realize just how insidious that whole situation was until it was over, and we can still mostly blame it on Simon Burke, but Patricia is terrifying。 Brainwashed too, I'm sure, but not enough of a conscience and no morals to speak of so she doesn't see a problem with it。 Burrito Jerry - Fucking Burrito Jerry <3 They stood there, watching each other, eyes alight。 Excited。 Nervous。 Proud。 Determined。 Gibby acted for all of them when she held out her hand, palm toward the ground。 “Bring it in,” she said。 It was difficult—so many people crowding together—but they did as she told them, a sloppy pile of hands on top of hands。 “Who are we?”“Lighthouse!” everyone cried。“And what are we gonna do?”Everyone looked confused, unsure of what she wanted from them。 Almost everyone, that is, because Dad chuckled and said, “We’re going to fucking ruin Simon Burke’s entire life。”“Hell yes,” Nick breathed。 “I knew it was an awesome catchphrase。 Suck on that, haters!”“We are,” Gibby agreed。 “We’re gonna show him why messing with our family was the worst mistake he ever made。 You know your jobs。 You know what’s at stake。 Watch each other’s backs。 Be safe。 Be strong。” She grinned at them。 “And remember: we put the extra in Extraordinary。 Let’s do this。” 。。。more

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!!!!!Nick and Seth。 Omg。 The most lovable characters。 Nicholas Bell is so weird and zany, Seth so soft and enigmatic, both so charming in their own ways。 I love Nick's positivity about his neurodivergence, the absolute wild way he thinks and talks (so funny and endearing!), and his very realistic teenage feelings and behaviors。 I also looooove the family and friend support in this trilogy。 Like, I believe that teens can save the world when their parents are actually involved I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!!!!!Nick and Seth。 Omg。 The most lovable characters。 Nicholas Bell is so weird and zany, Seth so soft and enigmatic, both so charming in their own ways。 I love Nick's positivity about his neurodivergence, the absolute wild way he thinks and talks (so funny and endearing!), and his very realistic teenage feelings and behaviors。 I also looooove the family and friend support in this trilogy。 Like, I believe that teens can save the world when their parents are actually involved and supportive。 Lol! I won't say much about a finale to a trilogy but seriously SO FUN。 An excellent trilogy that turns superhero vibes on their heads into something new and unique。 I really felt like Nova City was a real place。 And there's just so much LGBTQ+ JOY。 I'm just。。。 obsessed。 。。。more

Good wrap up to the series I've enjoyed this series as a whole, the third book is better than the second but not as good as the first。 This review contains semi spoilers。I liked the conclusion though I wished Owen had a better end。 I second what another reviewer said about the ominous chapter closers that petered out into nothing, causing unwarranted dread。 And I was very happy there was a epilogue (I almost missed it, located after the acknowledgement) but I wished it was of Seth and Nick's wed Good wrap up to the series I've enjoyed this series as a whole, the third book is better than the second but not as good as the first。 This review contains semi spoilers。I liked the conclusion though I wished Owen had a better end。 I second what another reviewer said about the ominous chapter closers that petered out into nothing, causing unwarranted dread。 And I was very happy there was a epilogue (I almost missed it, located after the acknowledgement) but I wished it was of Seth and Nick's wedding instead of telling us in a rushed fashion about their proposals)I also think there were way too many characters and I had trouble keeping track of all the parents。The sex scene was well done and felt really realistic and perfect for the characters。The thing I minded most was the PC overload。 I felt that every single current PC catch phrase was hit multiple times。 It felt like overkill, and for show, to the point I was wondering if it was genuine or parody, and it will really date the book in the future。 。。。more

This series is very cute and the characters are lovable, but most of the humor is a little too on-the-nose for me。 However, I might feel differently had I read it in print instead of audiobook form。 The audiobook narrator has essentially three voices: stereotypical twink, high school valley girl, or NY cop, so it was hard to develop specific attachments to characters as many of them sounded exactly the same。

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review。Okay, so, I didn't love this as much as book 1 or book 2。 For most of the story I felt lost, and I knew something was off and as the reader I was supposed to know something was off, but I didn't like how weird everything was related to Nick and and his mom。 All is cleared up but it kind of colored my opinion of the story thereafter。Overall, this was not bad, but not awesome, which TJ can do without question。 Could have been my mo A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review。Okay, so, I didn't love this as much as book 1 or book 2。 For most of the story I felt lost, and I knew something was off and as the reader I was supposed to know something was off, but I didn't like how weird everything was related to Nick and and his mom。 All is cleared up but it kind of colored my opinion of the story thereafter。Overall, this was not bad, but not awesome, which TJ can do without question。 Could have been my mood, who knows。Nick and Seth are a cute couple and Nick is super interested in things between them heating up, no pun intended。 :DThe drama around The Villains was too much like real life。 It was more than obvious real life issues were coloring the content of this book, and I didn't like that。 I read to escape real life, otherwise I'd watch the news or read a non-fiction (which I do both)。 Books are my escape。 I don't want to hear about defunding the police, or Trump references, or anything else。 It was hard to immerse myself in this story because I kept being pulled out of the story by being reminded of real world events。 I get the desire to do that, really I do, and there is a time and place for that。 In a superhero type story where everything is supposed to unbelievable and you know, Marvel Comics like, I want to hear about Nick being telekinetic and Seth flying with fire, not about real world politics。 I think I've beat the point to death。 Moving on。Aside from that, I wish things could have been happier for everybody。 The drama they went through with Nick's mom was hard and it hurt to see them all suffering because of it。 The Villains were super villainy, and the hero's superheroey (that's a word!), plus OMG DAD SQUAD! Talk about embarrassment! :DOf course the hero's win, but I was sad to see the circumstances, which I won't go into details even using spoiler tags because you should not know certain things going in。The epilogue was nice, though I wish I could have seen a more recent future, not like 10 years in the future。 Maybe 1 year, that would have been cool。 Of course they all end up together and everybody is happy and living the good life。 What else can you expect from a Super Hero Romance Story Extraordinaire。 I capitalized that so you know it's true。 :D :DI give this 3 stars mostly because there was too much non-fiction in my fiction。 The series was entertaining and I hope to listen to the audios which I understand to be amazing。Recommend this to fans of TJ and paranormal/fantasy style romances with teenagers。 。。。more

What an excellent conclusion to the trilogy! I'll admit, after the second book, I wasn't sure if TJ was going to be able to pull off the last book as there were so many loose ends and a character introduction right at the end that, ngl, made me roll my eyes, but this was perfect (and it even redeemed that character too!)。 The family aspect, with adults who loved their kids, really warmed my heart。 What an excellent conclusion to the trilogy! Once again, I am struck nearly speechless by a TJ Klune book, but that's to be expected。 And the feeling will never get old。 I have been a longtime fan of Klune for years, and when I heard he was venturing into YA and that it would be superheroes, no less, I was so excited。 The first book in this trilogy was so delightful, charming and quirky and fun。 I didn't love the sequel as much, but it was still TJ's writing, and so it still made me feel all warm and fuzzy。 But this conclusion to the serie Once again, I am struck nearly speechless by a TJ Klune book, but that's to be expected。 And the feeling will never get old。 I have been a longtime fan of Klune for years, and when I heard he was venturing into YA and that it would be superheroes, no less, I was so excited。 The first book in this trilogy was so delightful, charming and quirky and fun。 I didn't love the sequel as much, but it was still TJ's writing, and so it still made me feel all warm and fuzzy。 But this conclusion to the series was just stunning。 It follows kind of a formula if you're familiar with any sort of superhero media, but formulas work for a reason, and it was 100% enhanced in this book because of the queer joy and the unique one-of-a-kind humor that I will always recognize in TJ's writing。 If Spider-Man is your favorite Marvel hero, you'll love this series。 Nick has a similar kind of irresistible charm and quirkiness to him that bleeds through the pages。 And his romance with Seth is the sweetest, most innocent thing。 It is what mostly carried the series for me, though I have always, always loved superheroes the most out of all the media I've consumed over the years, so this trilogy hit so many sweet spots for me。 It would make an incredible cartoon, maybe in the style of some of DC's animated projects。 This series is just warmth, and love, and comfort。 It's familiarity and happiness。 At the same time, of course, TJ delivers sucker punches of angst in there every now and then。 There's emotion and heart and passion, like in everything he writes。 And TJ Klune has never, ever, ever let me down as an author, because he *always* delivers a beautiful epilogue to his stories。 This was no exception。 This was the perfect ending to the series, though now I would absolutely take more - a continuation with Nick and his friends being adults and how he and Seth have grown as heroes, and how the world of Extraordinaries has changed as they've gotten older。 I would eat that up so fast and pay all my money for it。 I'm so satisfied with this, though, and what TJ gave us with this series。 It was a great ride, and I enjoyed every minute of it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book is not bad, but I had higher expectations for it as the final book in the trilogy。 I think the biggest issue for this book was the Jennifer Bell story line in the first half。 We left the last book believing she was alive and about to reunite with her family。 Then this book starts and the characters are acting as if she never died and has been part of the story all along。 As the reader, you immediately know something is wrong as the characters start to doubt their memories, but you are This book is not bad, but I had higher expectations for it as the final book in the trilogy。 I think the biggest issue for this book was the Jennifer Bell story line in the first half。 We left the last book believing she was alive and about to reunite with her family。 Then this book starts and the characters are acting as if she never died and has been part of the story all along。 As the reader, you immediately know something is wrong as the characters start to doubt their memories, but you are really confused for *awhile*。 I think they could have had the same reveal midway through the book, but with the characters believing she had just been gone for awhile after her supposed death at the bank robbery。 Then the plot twist would have hit the reader pretty hard emotionally as well instead of just being "thank god we are all on the same page again。"Owen's arc is also a bit odd。 I felt like he didn't need to be the final villain at the end because his reasons for causing destruction- "the city hates extraordinaries anyway so why don't we just be bad"- was explained at the last second。 I get why he would go after his parents, but it didn't really make sense that he would help Nick for as long as he did and then be like I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL NOW。 How they defeated him was also a little rushed??I do enjoy the entire Lighthouse group of characters and their fun dialogue throughout the book。 I didn't laugh out loud as much as before, but I think the Jennifer Bell plot is mostly to blame for that in the first half of the book。 Nick's comedy shined more in the second half as he wasn't distracted by his distorted memories。The epilogue at the end is nice and I enjoyed the time jump and how it wrapped everything up。 You know how everyone ends up and for the most part they all got what they wanted。 It felt like a fanfiction ending which fits the whole theme of the book (speaking of which- I was sad not to get Nick's fanfic excerpts in this one like the others!)。On a final note- I still recommend the audiobooks for this trilogy。 The narrator is fantastic。 。。。more

I did like this book, and it felt like a good ending for this series, but I think I've grown a bit tired of the humor of the books personally。 I guess I could only take the same "faux offense over some minor slight that leads to ott apologizing and promising to do better" type of joke so much。 I did find the twist interesting and found the scenes before to be surprisingly creepy, and I enjoyed that。 I thought Nicky's more violent and murderous thoughts would lead to something, but after a certai I did like this book, and it felt like a good ending for this series, but I think I've grown a bit tired of the humor of the books personally。 I guess I could only take the same "faux offense over some minor slight that leads to ott apologizing and promising to do better" type of joke so much。 I did find the twist interesting and found the scenes before to be surprisingly creepy, and I enjoyed that。 I thought Nicky's more violent and murderous thoughts would lead to something, but after a certain point he just sort of realizes "yes, killing is bad" and that's it, and it leads me to wonder if you're not going to have a meaningful conversation about it, why even include those thoughts in the book? Like either do something with it or don't bother。 That brings me to my biggest issue with the book: (view spoiler)[Owen and his fate。 I was really looking forward to him begrudgingly working with the heroes, but he shows up for one scene then promptly disappears until the end, and then he becomes ott evil again for no real reason and dies。 While the people responsible for Owen being the way he is get to live。 It doesn't make sense, and it's frustrating when Owen himself tries to talk about nuance to Nicky and tells him the world isn't just black and white, yet Owen's character doesn't get to receive any of that。 It was such a disappointing end for what could have been an interesting character。 (hide spoiler)]That all said, I still did have fun reading the book and spending time with the rest of the characters。 I loved the families too。 The epilogue even got me teary eyed。 All in all, I did like the book, but there were some things that just fell too flat for me。 。。。more

I enjoyed reading it。 However, in the second half there is nothing much happening, other than the final stand against the evil。 Also, what made Nick fun was annoying in this book, it was all a bit much。 The first half, on the other hand, is quite intriguing, I didn't want to put the book down! My biggest issue is this: I find the solution a bit illogical。 She was always TK and everything was planned long term? She has all these powers? The plan more or less just works? Happy to hang out with the characters again, but the storyline is blah - it took me weeks to slog through, and I’m pretty sure I lost years of my life to that end fight scene。 This series excelled with its relationships, character development and humour, I can’t imagine anyone being especially interested in Simon Burke or the tiresome dads。 Also, bit disappointed by Owen’s ending。 The whole thing was pretty boring and unsatisfying。

Great conclusion to this series, I like that Owen was redeemed some。 The twist with Nick's mom made me really sad though, but Nick and his dad's bond plus the whole Dad Squad was really sweet。 Great conclusion to this series, I like that Owen was redeemed some。 The twist with Nick's mom made me really sad though, but Nick and his dad's bond plus the whole Dad Squad was really sweet。 。。。more
