Summary

Become enchanted by the fantasy world of gods and mortals in bestselling author Scarlett St。 Clair's reimagined New Greece。 Readers are "hopelessly addicted" to the story of Hades and Persephone told from Hades's point of view。

Hades, God of the Dead, does not take sides or bend the rules。 He makes no exceptions to these values-not for god or mortal, even his lover, Persephone, Goddess of Spring。

Usually, fear prevents retaliation。

But not this time。

When Hera, Goddess of Women, approaches Hades with a plan to overthrow Zeus, he declines to offer help。 As punishment, Hera sentences Hades to perform a series of labors。 Each feat seems more impossible than the last and draws his attention away from Persephone-whose own tragedy has left her questioning whether she can be Queen of the Underworld。

Can Hades maintain the balance he craves?

The same thing happened again。 As with the 'A Game of Fate', I was wondering if I was going to be kept captivated enough by reading the same storyline I had already read from Persephone's point of view。 I thought I wouldn't be captivated, and I was wrong。A little break from the series did me good, and I got back to this book with renewed enthusiasm。 Seeing both sides now, it was easier to understand where both Hades and Persephone came from with their feuds。Reading about a certain event (iykyk) The same thing happened again。 As with the 'A Game of Fate', I was wondering if I was going to be kept captivated enough by reading the same storyline I had already read from Persephone's point of view。 I thought I wouldn't be captivated, and I was wrong。A little break from the series did me good, and I got back to this book with renewed enthusiasm。 Seeing both sides now, it was easier to understand where both Hades and Persephone came from with their feuds。Reading about a certain event (iykyk) was not any easier the second time around。 It left behind an ache, for this reason, I was also a bit hesitant to return to this story once more。 In the end, I'm very glad I did 💙Favourite quote:"We don't make up hurt with hurt, Persephone, that is a god's game。 We are lovers。""Then how do we make up for hurt?" she asked。"With time," he said。 。。。more

I am absolutely obsessed with the Hades Saga! I can practically see the steam coming off the page when I read these books。 His friendships with Hecate and Hermes are two of my most loved things about this series。 You can tell they all care deeply about each other, and they are two of the only people who aren’t genuinely terrified of him, and they give him shit all the time。 Hermes crossed the room to a stack of folded towels and threw one at him。 “Get wet, Daddy Death。”I think POV books are hard to get right but Scarlett St Clair absolutely nails it each time。 We get an entire new story within the Hades Saga that we know little to nothing about in the Hades and Persephone series, and it’s just as thrilling and exciting as what we get in the other books, as well as showing some favourite scenes from Hades POV。 I really love this man, and this series - both of the series - and I eagerly await more。 。。。more

I really tried liking this book。 But I found this book a bit repetitive since I read the first three books in the series。 Let me explain。 We are now getting Hades POVs, so this is his book in the series。 So now you understand why I found this book a bit repetitive to read through。 It was nice to know his POV, but it could have been in the series instead。

Scarlett Did It Again!I will forever love Hades's and Persephone in this retelling! They are real, flawed, passionate and perfect for each other。 I love how Scarlett weaves their story together through this series。 Don't skip on the "A Game of。。" books, you NEED Hades's POV to fully understand the series。 5/5!!! Too much sex, too many plots I didn't care about, at all。 This series is a good example of what something with Hades and Persephone could have been and yet isn't。Seriously too much smut without the rush/nervousness/suspense/thrill I would have expected。 *I read all the myths as a child and I've always expected their story to be a constant problem, but this is just not it。 I come from a country where kids actually read about Greek gods (if their parents recommend the books, ofc), but this was jus Too much sex, too many plots I didn't care about, at all。 This series is a good example of what something with Hades and Persephone could have been and yet isn't。Seriously too much smut without the rush/nervousness/suspense/thrill I would have expected。 *I read all the myths as a child and I've always expected their story to be a constant problem, but this is just not it。 I come from a country where kids actually read about Greek gods (if their parents recommend the books, ofc), but this was just p**n without any explanation。 Maybe if these books were about Zeus, 'cause we all know how he's an A-hole。。。All in all, this is just smut (the 'free on kindle kind') that doesn't deserve the money or the praise。I expected a lot more。 Hades & Persephone are about so much more (and turning her into a ridiculous Anastasia Grey-type heroine is just so unfair)。 。。。more

。。。more

DNF。 This book was all over the place with numerous plot threads that were not easy to follow。 I didn’t connect with any of the characters, as their attitudes and actions didn’t feel real。 I might give it another chance later, but this was not an entertaining book for me。

This book felt like a disappointment after I enjoyed the first book of The Hades Saga so much。 In this book, Hades felt far too overprotective and preoccupied with sex, which occasionally led to violence I felt was unnecessary。 I also just don't understand why he doesn't tell Persephone anything about his interactions with the other divine。 She gets mad at him for not telling her things, to the point that they're basically separated; you think the guy would learn his lesson。 I do continue to enj This book felt like a disappointment after I enjoyed the first book of The Hades Saga so much。 In this book, Hades felt far too overprotective and preoccupied with sex, which occasionally led to violence I felt was unnecessary。 I also just don't understand why he doesn't tell Persephone anything about his interactions with the other divine。 She gets mad at him for not telling her things, to the point that they're basically separated; you think the guy would learn his lesson。 I do continue to enjoy the inclusion of the other gods and goddesses though and remain curious to see how the author continues to adapt Greek mythology in her series。 。。。more

Well, it was better than A Game of Fate。 So that's something。 It's really hard for me to root for this couple whose relationship is entirely built on sex without any thing else。 They (Hades) can't spend 5 minutes in conversation without needing to get it on。 Seriously, all of the pain and conflict between them in this book would have been resolved with a short conversation。 Ugh。I guess I'm just not impressed by reading the exact same sex scene every single chapter, sometimes multiple times per c Well, it was better than A Game of Fate。 So that's something。 It's really hard for me to root for this couple whose relationship is entirely built on sex without any thing else。 They (Hades) can't spend 5 minutes in conversation without needing to get it on。 Seriously, all of the pain and conflict between them in this book would have been resolved with a short conversation。 Ugh。I guess I'm just not impressed by reading the exact same sex scene every single chapter, sometimes multiple times per chapter。 It's not exciting or arousing or interesting。 I'm just bored。 。。。more

A Game of Retribution is the most recent installment in the Hades x Persephone series from Scarlett St。 Clair, and this one tells the Hades perspective of A Touch of Ruin。 I do have to say, I like getting the stories from his perspective and finding out what Hades is doing when we didn’t see him in the Touch series。 I really appreciate that there is enough new plot (quite a lot actually) so that we aren’t getting a complete retelling of the Persephone books。 While there is some overlap and dupli A Game of Retribution is the most recent installment in the Hades x Persephone series from Scarlett St。 Clair, and this one tells the Hades perspective of A Touch of Ruin。 I do have to say, I like getting the stories from his perspective and finding out what Hades is doing when we didn’t see him in the Touch series。 I really appreciate that there is enough new plot (quite a lot actually) so that we aren’t getting a complete retelling of the Persephone books。 While there is some overlap and duplicated scenes, we do get a lot of new detail and plot in this series as well。 It actually felt like this one was more of the story outside their relationship and all the things that Hades was doing on his own to try to make their relationship work。 We see less of them actually interacting with each other。 However, when they are together, we either get sex or a LOT of miscommunication。 I have never read a book series that had so much miscommunication within the couple。 Hades and Persephone are the King and Queen of doing things FOR their relationship but not telling their partner about them and they each end up making a mess of things。 So many times throughout this book and the corresponding A Touch of Ruin I wanted to scream at these two for not talking to the other person。 They’ll get mad at each other because the other’s actions messed up their plans, but never communicated those plans in the first place。 As someone who really hates the miscommunication trope, this is probably the thing that bothers me most in this series。 It makes for good drama, but also makes me want to throw the book。 There were a lot more things I liked in this book, which is bringing up my overall rating of the series。 In general, I feel like there is a lot more action in this book (and in A Game of Fate) than we had in the corresponding Touch side of the story。 I think part of that has to do with the Touch series doing a lot more world building and overall setting of the timeline and what is going on。 This side is able to kind of fill in the cracks with additional plot and events, and therefore make them more exciting or action packed。 I loved the trials that Hades has to go through from Hera。 It was an exciting plot element to see him have to complete these different tasks (and see how all of her plans wove into the overall plot of the series)。 I also LOVE that we get more Hermes and Hecate in these books。 Hermes calling him Daddy Death had me laughing out loud。 Hecate needs to start billing her time for all the relationship therapy and fixing she does for them。 We get more of Hades perspective and doubts that he has to deal with in this, and we see a lot of advice and counseling being given by Hecate in how to communicate and be a better partner。 I said this with my previous review, but I really think this book series would have been better if it was written dual POV, instead of as two separate series from each perspective。 While the books are good, I did find myself having to remember throughout this book what was happening in the corresponding Persephone book。 I also read the series as all the Touch (Persephone) books first, then Game (Hades) books second。 I’d recommend NOT doing it that way as it would be better to go back and forth in their heads (as Persephone can get a little tiresome) and you get a better mix of plot and story telling。 I think this would also help with remembering what happened to Persephone in the previous installment。 Personally, I think dual POV would have lent better to this as then we’d have both perspectives on events at the same time and really get more complex character building and plot that way。 I feel with each of these separate, that sometimes the character development isn’t as good as it could be as each is lacking in their partner’s book。 Overall, this was an enjoyable read。 We had a more exciting plot that was pretty fast paced, and some great spice throughout。 I think the balance of spice to plot was probably the best in this book。 We also had a lot more character development and understanding of what is going on in the Olympus world overall, which lends to the grand story between both series。 。。。more

Hades POV of A Touch of Ruin。 Again, rated it 4 instead of 5 stars because it felt a little all over the place at times。 BUT I really enjoy getting inside Hades's head and seeing what he is doing when he isn't with Persephone。 There's definitely a bigger plot at play, and Hades's POV definitely reveals that。 It's also totally adorable to see how devoted he is to Persephone (swoon-worthy)。 I'm thinking the bigger plot is definitely going to kick up a notch in the next book, so super excited (and Hades POV of A Touch of Ruin。 Again, rated it 4 instead of 5 stars because it felt a little all over the place at times。 BUT I really enjoy getting inside Hades's head and seeing what he is doing when he isn't with Persephone。 There's definitely a bigger plot at play, and Hades's POV definitely reveals that。 It's also totally adorable to see how devoted he is to Persephone (swoon-worthy)。 I'm thinking the bigger plot is definitely going to kick up a notch in the next book, so super excited (and a bit nervous for our King and Queen) to keep reading! 。。。more

So this book focuses on the relationship between Hades and Persephone; except, you get it from Hades' perspective。 The reader is allowed to see his feelings about the relationship and efforts to keep Persephone from her mother and receive the marriage blessing from Hera。 All of this is while trying not to take sides in a war that is soon to happen。 Hera wants to overthrow her husband and has joined - oddly enough- with demigods and the Triad, a group that resents Olympian rule。 This book is stil So this book focuses on the relationship between Hades and Persephone; except, you get it from Hades' perspective。 The reader is allowed to see his feelings about the relationship and efforts to keep Persephone from her mother and receive the marriage blessing from Hera。 All of this is while trying not to take sides in a war that is soon to happen。 Hera wants to overthrow her husband and has joined - oddly enough- with demigods and the Triad, a group that resents Olympian rule。 This book is still steamy in terms of encounters between the lovers, but it is better if one wants greater inclusion of mythological beings and monsters as well as their history。 That's why I enjoyed this one。 That said, a little more mythology and a little less sex would have also been preferred。 。。。more
